Jul 8, 2011how to make a vertical marquee in flash cs4? I can make a horizontal one with no problem but I am having problems creating one that is vertical.

Apr 29, 2010I'm trying to add a scrolling marquee to a web site that can be updated by uploading a text file. I'm piecing together some old code and I'm having an issue with resizing the dynamic text (as you will see in my fla). I have found that I can fiddle around with the physical size of the text box and make my example work, but when I upload text files of varying length, that option just won't work.

Mar 14, 2009We've seen it on many websites before, where there is a row of buttons on the page and when you position the mouse on that row, the buttons either scroll up or down depending on the position of the mouse. There are tuts available for AS1 and AS2, but i have yet to see an AS3 tut. (I may have overlooked it.)

Sep 3, 2010I am building a vertical menu that is draggable on the Y axis.
1.How do I add easing? Can I use fuse?
2.If the button that is being dragged reaches a point on the y axis it would trigger a function. If it is let go before reaching that point the button would snap back to the original position. I guess a simple (if statement) would work - but not working for me
3.Last thing. It is a vertical menu, so when a button is being dragged everything above it would drag with it. Cannot seem to get that to happen

Oct 12, 2011I am trying to have a tool-tip in Flex 3, where in when my mouse is over the some value, it should show a tool-tip just like you get it for any classes in Eclipse IDE. Suppose, your mouse is over word "String" in java, you get a tool-tip stating the description of java.lang.String and its syntax. It also allows to copy the contents. Is it possible to create such a tool-tip in Flex 3 ? I want this kind of tool-tip to appear, and when pressed F2, it should have horizontal and vertical scroll bars and we should be able to copy the contents from tool-tip.

I think it could be done by adding a letter to an dynamic textbox, but how do you take those letters out of a text, i don't want to put each letter in an action script, that's too much work to make or to change

Oct 22, 2011I am in the process of creating a vertical scrolling space shooter game for deployment on mobile platforms using AIR.I've used some excellent tutorials online, video tutorials on Lynda and several books, including Game Programming University.Something they all seem to gloss over are the various screens that will be used.
For instance, my game right now will use a splash screen, a main menu screen, a credits screen,a settings screen, a difficulties screen, an instruction screen, an end game screen and save/load screen...and a play game screen, where the actual game will be played.I've created the screens as seperate frames in the main timeline with stop commands in between and code on each page (I know... bad!... but easy).So basically,they can navigate through the menus using buttons (mouseclicks, which will work with touchs as well) and when they are How do I pass data between them? I was thinking of storing it in shared object.

Aug 18, 2010I'm building a retro airport scene and would like a marquee that reacts like a flip clock: [img] [URL] In theory, when the user clicks on the "Arrivals/Departures" screen, the entire screen turns into this flip clock-looknig screen and all the letters and numbers form when the machine gets to their letter. The entire animation will only last a couple of seconds, so the user is not waiting on the computer to deliver all the information, but the different letters take different amounts of time to load depending on where they are in the alphabet.

Apr 16, 2009I'm new here and relatively new to Flash. I'm attempting to build an mp3 player to add to my website using the "Flash MP3 Player" tutorial. The problem I am having is that the scrolling text displaying the song information is acting all strange. It only scrolls 2 letters over to the left and then 2 letters over to the right and also doesn't fill the entire text box (it leaves a section of empty space on the right side). What I want is for the song info to continuously scroll left to right like a marquee sign while each song is playing.

Jul 2, 2008How to make a working marquee. I have four buttons. Each button has a primary function of taking you to a different scene, and a secondary function where some text (different text for each button) is displayed in a dynamic text box during onRollOver, which then goes away onRollOut. The displayed text are all String variables in the script.
The dynamic text box needs to stay a certain size. The text is longer than the dynamic text box. So, right now, every last part of this works, the script pops into the dynamic text box and goes away just like it should. How can I make the text scroll (like a marquee) and repeat indefinitely until you onRollOut?

Nov 22, 2010I'm using an old open-source mp3 player (musicplayer.sourceforge.net) on my site because the visual design does not clash with existing colors, etc.The author provides two versions of the player. (ea also has the fla file in case I want to modify it for a different swf) One allows the user to pick from several songs stored in a simple text playlist, and the appropriate album cover is displayed during playback. The other is a "slim" version that is just for playing one song at a time. In the first player,the artist's name (pulled from the playlist) is displayed and then the song title scrolls across while in play. Some additional basic text is stored in an accompanying actionscript 2 file. I have no trouble with this version. The slim version is supposed to do the same thing. However, it continues to marquee text of the player author's name regardless of what I change. I replaced text strings in both the actionscript file and the playlist but the player doesn't seem to extract them.

Actionscript 2.0 :: Get Vertical Dynamic Text Block By Setting To Vertical And Then To Dynamic
Jun 17, 2009i found i can get vertical dynamic text block by setting to vertical and then to dynamic. But, then it ends up being horizontal, and if inside a clip, only the letters over another item in clip show. Like veritcal text on a vertical bar gives only the 1 or 2 letters that fit across bar, rest truncated. i've tried embedding text to get this far, but still doesn't work 'all the way' i see online they talk about all scripting for dynamic, vertical text; is that necessary, or am i missing something??

IDE :: Marquee Scroll (Song Title) From XML File In MP3 Player
Jan 3, 2007So I made some a nifty a MP3 player that grabs songs from an XML file. It displays the song name in the dynamic text field. Unfortunately, I only have very little display space and many of the track names are long. The solution: marquee scroll the text horizonally. The problem: I never marquee scrolled dynamic text and now I am lost.
Here is my main AS:

And while this did make the text scroll on the first song, it doesn't work so hot on the second song. It blips back-and-forth between the first and second song name. Advance to a third song and you've got an even bigger blipping mess. I kind of think that this code above isn't the way to go... that it isn't even worth reworking... that I should try something completely new.

For some reason it only works by using the stop(); command. The problem is that this causes the animation not to automatically start when placed into an html page. The result I want is for the text to automatically begin to scroll.
IDE :: Dynamic Vertical Scroll Within Flash
Feb 5, 2010I have a long column of text set Roman and Bold originally in InDesign CS2. I intend to use the type as a dynamic vertical scroll within Flash. But I cannot retain the type styles! I have:
1. saved the original ID text files as .jpg, .png and find the reproduction inferior to Flash set type. (importing.pdf files into flash looses characters!). Flash cannot read .eps or ID files. So I tried copy and pasting original ID text into Flash. It looked good but the bold style was converted to roman.
2. There is no way in Flash I can find to convert selected single lines to bold!
I have tried highlighting a line and selecting Text>Font the bold font; - all text becomes bold! I have highlighted a line and used the Properties Style Bold button; - All text becomes bold! Apparently I cannot select a line of text without the whole text block becoming live.
3. My choice appears to be A. re-type all text in Flash or B. Place text in xml file linked to the scroller.
