ActionScript 2.0 :: Trigger An Animation To View The Different Sides Of The Cube
May 21, 2011I have a cube and the buttons are meant to trigger an animation to view the different sides of the cube. For optimising and swf hosting sake I want to use one animation on the frames of the timeline but for multiple buttons. e.g. button 1 goes to the start of the animation, then at the end, the action goes to the frame 2. if button 2 was pressed to go to the start of the same animation then at the end, the action goes to frame 3 etc. Does anyone have any thoughts on how this should be done?

I am quite familiar with flash and actionscript, so I just need some pointers.I have seen that this is already being used for advertisements. If you visitthere are ads that appear far below on the page. These ads play only when you scroll down and the ad appears within the browser window. This happens on many other sites as well.Many popular sites also use something like this. On CNN, try opening a new tab that loads a flash video. The video begins to play only when you actually go to that tab. Until you open the tab and the contents become visible in your browser window, the video doesn't start. How is this done?

Nov 29, 2011does anyone know how to disable that slide animation and just have the action bar instantly change to whatever action bar the next view contains, but still do a slide navigation for the rest of the view. My Action bar doesn't change on every page so seeing the same image reload repetitively in the action bar.

Aug 3, 2010I'm about to have to write a web page/app that will serve the agenda for circa 100 people on a page. One line per person, one column per day with 3 clickable zones in each cell. In HTML, the page is way complex for the browser to load quick and there is no possibility to click on a border between 2 cells to for example split an event that spreads among several cells. So I search an not too overkilling technology to render this kind of view. I begun with a PHP generated HTML page but the number of elements in the page make the mouse move jerky.
Moving to JAVA would give me better performances regarding the reuse of the generator of the view but it will still be an HTML page. So, here is my question: do you think that going forward with JAVA and its graphical capability is the simple solution or is Flash a better option for this part of a Web App? I'm afraid of the code I'll have to write in JAVA to handle the GUI presentation as well as the events generated by the 1000's cells plus borders of the page. In Flash, the graphical part seems simpler even if the actions handling is still huge.

Aug 15, 2011I'm currently using RobotLegs with the Presentation Model pattern to develop a Flex 4 project. I understand that all business logic related to a View resides in the Presentation Model associated with that view, however, I am confused when it comes to View specific logic.For example, I have an indicator that needs to be positioned relatively to list items depending on which list item is selected. Is it acceptable in the Presentation pattern to put the logic that will position the indicator in the View and simply have that logic run in reaction to a selectedIndex property changing in the presentation model?The reason I am considering this is that since the Presentation Model does not have a reference to the view it is difficult to come up with an ideal solution for manipulating view components.

Flex :: Change A View From Inside A View?
Jun 13, 2010I have one .mxml file (the Application) with a ViewStack (with 4 views) and a ControlBard, obviously I can change the views with it, but what I want to do is: in view #1 I have an image which I want to convert to a "hyperlink", so when I click it I go to View #2, is this doable? Also I would like to pass somehow some data (like a String) to that View #2 (lets say the it's a user avatar I click so I want to go to the second view which will show me his profile, that's why I need his name/id).

Oct 8, 2009in flash, I encounted a source file that is cropped and I cannot move it, is there some sort of cropped view in flash I dont know about? I cannot find anyinformation about it, it has rulers displayed as far as I remember.
Basically you cannot move in the file to edit anything viewpoint wise, everything outside of the movie area is invisible and not there? As if cropped.

May 12, 2009I'm using Vista 64 on a more then adequate laptop, I initially used Flash CS4 and it was great for the past week but a few days ago it started geting really slow, whenever I copy, change frame, select something, basicaly any change action I have to wait about 5 seconds or more for a reaction. I'm using it for simple animation, no symbols, just 3 layers. I have a deadline coming up for my final production and if I can't fix this fast I'm screwed. I've tried every solution I can find, including trying Flash CS3 and Flash 8, nothing seems to fix the slow speed

However, I find that the older versions are easier to use, less prone to lag, and come with less features (it might sound odd to want less features, but I don't write Actionscript or anything - all I need are the basic paintbrush tools and animating abilites). So one will be coin2, then coin3, then coin4, ect. How would I look for each one without having to write if statements for them all. The purpose it that if I would like to analyse the code e.g. on a plane, anyway away from my pc, then I would have it pretty colored on paper, unlike if I would print it black/white via copy/paste into some text editor in order to print.

Dec 2, 2010I am new in Graphics and Multimedia Programming and I use Adobe Flash CS5 Professional V11.0 to edit and create some short flash movies.I have an old flash movie which is created by older version of Flash (Macromedia Flash 10 or 8). This falsh movie needs modification because it has some typing errors.
I had a rendered Flash movie (.swf) that I converted to its original format (.fla) with its associated resources like Action - Button - Font - Frame - Image - Shape - Sprite using a Flash decompiler software.
I have edited the shapes which includes the errors by my flash software and save it using the available formats which are CS5 or CS4 which are only allowed in saving options.
I took copies of the old edited shapes and replaced them with new correct ones but when I publish the file to be in *.swf format or expert it to flash it did not work as they are not there at all.it may be a type mismatch but I downloaded and installed old flash software version (Macromedia Flash 8.0) to read and publish them but it gives file reading error and was unable to read or manipulate them at all.
I tried a program that replaces specific shape or all flash shapes but it did not see that also and it is used only with *.swf format.Is there any way to convert or treat shapes in flash as text ?
I searched the web for that but most results coming talks about Shape tweening and I did not find what I want.How I can change the mistakes in these flash shapes and leaving the other things as they are like the action script and the timeline used as I only want to replace these wrong shapes ?

Apr 15, 2011We have a really strange problem with a piece of Fluorine integration we've built.We have a form with a Captcha on it; the Captcha image is populated from a .Net/AMF webservice inventively titled GetCaptchaImage.ashx and can be reloaded from a text hyperlink within the Flash.
In some versions of IE (particularly IE8, but it may also be others), irrespective of IE version emulation and wmode, clicking the text link causes the HTTP call to our Fluorine gateway successfully to be made, but the call to the webservice does not follow it. Inspecting the HTTP transactions with Microsoft Fiddler, [code]...
why on earth that second call wouldn't be making it to the webserver? I can't see why the Flash wouldn't be issuing the HTTP GET but, equally, I can't think of any reason why a browser (let alone just this browser) would be suppressing it. I'm not a Flash developer (I run the .Net team here),
Flash Object Not Loading In Older Versions Of IE?
Aug 29, 2011I am trying to load a flash object and I am having a hard time getting it to work in ie6,ie7, and ie8. The flash object is a button for an uploader. The flash object loads in firefox, chrome, safari, opera, and ie9 fine. I have searched google for answers and I have not been able to fix it. Here is the code that i used to load the flash object (it has changed various times with no luck in ie6-ie8)

Flash 10 :: Converter To Allow The Opening Or Saving Of Different Versions?
Jun 9, 2010Most of the time when it comes to sharing FLA files compatibility is an issue. For me I have CS3 at college, CS4 at work and CS5 at home so saving as a specific version is an issue expacially as most people seem to have CS3. Is there such thing as a converter to allow the opening or saving of different versions? CS5 cannot save as a CS3 which is the main problem for me.
