Jan 7, 2010Basically at my school we are doing a project that allows you to walk around the school like you can on "Google Street View". Me being a geek, the teacher asked me to make a prototype using my house to see if this idea would work. So today I went on Flash and made two working Flash/SWF files, one being a "Google Street View"type of thing of my upstairs and one of my downstairs of my house. I made two SWFs because at school there are many different people working on the project so there will be many different SWFs to combine.
So after making the two SWFs (the upstairs one called Untitled-2 and the downstairs called downstairs) I tried to merge them together. Each one of the SWFs have action script on these" Arrows" that allows you to guide around my house. The action script on all the arrows is:

I made a new Flash Document and one the first scene I had a Button That Said "Begin". Once Pressed, it takes you to scene 2. On scene two I went to File > Import > Import to Library and Selected Untitled-2.swf. Untitled-2.swf was then in my library. I clicked and dragged it into the stage of Scene 2 and in the timeline only 1 keyframe pooped up. I thought it would work so I previewed the Flash Movie. The Begin Button show up, and when I clicked it preview file Flashed each Keyframe in Untitled-2.swf even though the first frame in Untitled-2.swf has the action script: stop(); The whole thing is uncontrollable and I dont know what to do. I hope you understood what I wrote (Im not the best with spelling and grammar). So in a nut shell, how can I combine 2 SWF files In Flash, whilst maintaining all the action script in each file.
Zoom To A Place By Street Name In Google Maps API In Flash?
Oct 3, 2010I want to make a *.SWF in which the user inserts an address in the first frame, then in the second frame Google Maps shows that place. The problem is that I don't know how to zoom on a point without LatLng parameter. Probably, Geocoding would be the solution, but as I said earlier, I don't understand how it works in Flash. Could someone please either post a few lines or direct me to an example of geocoding in Flash?

Mar 4, 2010I have a (flex) app that, on the click of a button, resize a div (in javascript) at the bottom of the page and shows your position in google street view in it.
The things is that if I open the browser at 80% of width, click on the button and then maximize the window, the div won't take 100% of width. I have a function that his being called 'onResize' on the body tag of the page, but it doesn't seems to work. Here is the code :

How can I achieve the auto-resize of the street view? There must be a specific id for that object so that we could get it by javascript, but I haven't found it.
Flash - How To View Google Docs Or Word Files In Flex App
Jul 3, 2011I am evaluating flex for a mobile and a web application and one of things I want to be able to do is show a google docs or a microsoft docs file (doc,ppt) within a flex application. Google docs files are published as web pages so I guess you need a html component with javascript enabled. Does such a component exist in flex 4+? Similarly how would I go about showing a word or a powerpoint file inside a flex app? How does a site like slideshare or scribd do it?

Mar 31, 2011I have a div that I want to be able to display over an iframed youtube flash player (and I do not want to embed the object directly) or iframed flash advertising. So far, my solution is to display an transparent iframe behind the div, which works for Firefox, Safari, and IE8, however, Google Chrome doesn't appear to follow suit. Because the flash objects are iframed from a third party site, I can't modify their wmode, either.

ActionScript 1/2 :: URL Decode Street Addresses From PHP
May 6, 2009I had a php programmer write me a script to download information from a local real estate board, and it works great, but we had to have it download to an xml file using urlencode in php (there were characters in the listings that caused problems - ie. > < & "). Anyways, now I'm parsing the information in flash, and still left with a few "+" signs between street names (ie. Bear+Mountain Road).
I tried adding:
var loadVars:LoadVars = new LoadVars();loadVars.decode(i.attributes.street);trace(i.attributes.street);
In my actionscript, but I still end up with "Bear+Mountain Road."
I guess either the "decode" function doesn't work to remove "+" signs, or I'm using the wrong thing. Right now it seems to be ONLY "+" signs, so even if there is a way to search the attribute and remove them that would be great!

Aug 3, 2010I'm about to have to write a web page/app that will serve the agenda for circa 100 people on a page. One line per person, one column per day with 3 clickable zones in each cell. In HTML, the page is way complex for the browser to load quick and there is no possibility to click on a border between 2 cells to for example split an event that spreads among several cells. So I search an not too overkilling technology to render this kind of view. I begun with a PHP generated HTML page but the number of elements in the page make the mouse move jerky.
Moving to JAVA would give me better performances regarding the reuse of the generator of the view but it will still be an HTML page. So, here is my question: do you think that going forward with JAVA and its graphical capability is the simple solution or is Flash a better option for this part of a Web App? I'm afraid of the code I'll have to write in JAVA to handle the GUI presentation as well as the events generated by the 1000's cells plus borders of the page. In Flash, the graphical part seems simpler even if the actions handling is still huge.

I understand that all business logic related to a View resides in the Presentation Model associated with that view, however, I am confused when it comes to View specific logic.For example, I have an indicator that needs to be positioned relatively to list items depending on which list item is selected. Is it acceptable in the Presentation pattern to put the logic that will position the indicator in the View and simply have that logic run in reaction to a selectedIndex property changing in the presentation model?The reason I am considering this is that since the Presentation Model does not have a reference to the view it is difficult to come up with an ideal solution for manipulating view components.

Jun 13, 2010I have one .mxml file (the Application) with a ViewStack (with 4 views) and a ControlBard, obviously I can change the views with it, but what I want to do is: in view #1 I have an image which I want to convert to a "hyperlink", so when I click it I go to View #2, is this doable? Also I would like to pass somehow some data (like a String) to that View #2 (lets say the it's a user avatar I click so I want to go to the second view which will show me his profile, that's why I need his name/id).

Oct 8, 2009in flash, I encounted a source file that is cropped and I cannot move it, is there some sort of cropped view in flash I dont know about? I cannot find anyinformation about it, it has rulers displayed as far as I remember.
Basically you cannot move in the file to edit anything viewpoint wise, everything outside of the movie area is invisible and not there? As if cropped.
