ActionScript 3.0 :: Figure Out How To Have An Editable Small Text Box
Feb 14, 2012
I am currently trying to figure out how to have an editable small text box.
The text box will have a default value of lets say "default 1", but will be able to be overided when its compiled to, lets say "Layer 1". Is this possible at runtime? Basically I want to achieve the same goal as just like renaming a layer within flash.
Is there anyway of changing an integer of 100, into a 1, 0 and another 0?In context, I've got game with a score. Every time you pick up a coin, it adds 10 to the score, there's 20 coins (so a max score of 200 possible). I've got numbers 0-9 as seperate images. The score currently is a single three digit integer, and I need it to be represented as three single digit integers so I can assign those to an image.
I need to put together an editable text area that has a custom caret (cursor) which is different from the default blinking vertical line. Is the caret a "skinnable" property of text input? note that I am not asking about the mouse pointer cursor which can be set using the CursorManager.
I am trying to make a feed backbox for visitors on my website. I have made the editable text field and scroll bar and set all of my preferences, but when the typing reaches the border on the right of the text field it just continues to type further horizontaly. I can start a new line by pressing enter but I would like it to start a new line on its own when it reaches the boundary.
I am trying to figure out the encoding of the below post response text. I thought it was amf, but not I am not sure. Please help me identify the encoding type and if you may, show me how to decode the response.
- I have two textArea components on the stage - I need to figure out what textArea component is in focus when clicking on it
How do i make it so that it can figure out the instance name of the text area component in focus so i can preforme some code? I tried the following code but it doesn't seem to work.
People have asked how to make a text editor with css formatting before and the answer has always been with reference to the manual - "it can't be done".But what if you didn't accept that something can't be done?I'm thinking some sort of translation class to convert between textformat and css.Or bin the css for the moment of editing and then reapply when the user has finished.
I created an multiline TLF editable text field in my fla file. How can I format different alignments and font size for different lines in the same text field?
I'm trying to implement a feature like the text boxes in adobe photoshop. I want my user to be able to add a text box to the stage that they can move(drag and drop) and go back and change the text later. I also want to be able to keep track of the text boxes so I can let the user change the color, etc. How can I do this?
I want to make text editable in images in flash to get copy from text can i Make this and other question please can i convert text in image in flash to normal string?
Users need to be able to paste the contents of an Excel spreadsheet into a grid in my flex application. I have implemented this using a TextArea with a change event handler that parses the text the the user pastes - splitting it up by newlines and tabs - and adding it to the ArrayCollection that is bound to the grid. However, it makes no sense for users to be able to manually enter text into the TextArea. How can I prevent them from doing so?
The project I'm working on requires a text field that the user can input an equation and the result is passed on to a variable. The problem is whenever you put in an equation it always comes out zero. If you just put in a number it passes it on properly. Below is a simplified example of what I'm trying to do.[code]...

But again, a little more descriptive. I have a editable text section set up like
Artist - (Editable text section) Your email - (editable text section) Link - (Editable text section) (send) - Sends to my email
And I want to make it so people can copy a paste a link from lets say you tube on to it.
I have the text in TLF format to allow it so I can change the color of the input box where the text is located. (Because I do not know how to do it on classic) how to make the box color of the editable text section a different color other then white? (If its a problem.)
Whenever I try to copy and paste as is it shows up but its in a different text style, and its hidden. (That may just be because my text box is black as well.) but i'd still like it to have the same text style when you do paste.)
i'm gonna make a flash banner in cs4 to be placed on the webpage of a friend. the flash header is going to contain 6 images and some text, all this is easy to do in flash.but i'm wondering about how to publish it to the web, is a swf file and the html file enough? i want to create a text document where my friend later can exchange the images and the texts for his webpage, without him having to do this in the flash programme itself. is this possible?
I have a class which inherit from ComboBox .i want to implement a function to control the position of the cursor.Any builtin function?

I want to create a game that has a HUD, showing the player's energy, money and the number of days that has passed. In the hud, I have created an editable text, which I assume would be the same as a dynamic text (I recently transitioned to as3). The editable text also has an instance name. As I create number variables, how would I go about having the variable numbers show up inside the editable text?

here is an example of how i want the header to look like, when you have the mouse hovered over the one big image[URL]..
Actionscript Code: function createNames(){var counter:Number = 1; for each(var ca:Categorie in arrCategories) if(ca.Name == currentMonster.name) for each(var ch:Channel in ca.Children)
I found a simple and effective text scroller in your tutorial archive by Billy T -[URL] The internal as was just what I was after except I would like the dragger bar to be on the left instead of the right. I've changed x's to y's and added co ords for left positioning but I've had no response. I feel there could be a very simple answer to this one.
lambdas is is the variable i am trying to display in the dynamic text box (instance name is test_txt). rk and lp are input text numbers. I am trying to use rk = 0.05 and lp = 0.2. 0.25 should be displayed in the box
I am making a small banner that is populated with text, and slides across the stage. There are 3 attributes in the xml: One for the message to be displayed One for the link and one for the target (window).
All works very well...except for one thing. In AS2 I was able to replace a link if I needed, with a asFunction in order to trigger a function in the main timeline. This bit isn't working. So asFunction was replaced with a text event, tho this won't work for me here, I think...
This is my xml: Code: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <messagelist> <message myURL="asFunctiom:this.parent.btn1Click_xml" myTarget="function" myMessage="Buy me, buy me now, damnit! 0" /> <message myURL="asFunctiom:this.parent.btn2Click_xml" myTarget="function" myMessage="Oh horsefeathers, you still there? 1" /> [Code] .....
best way to read in like 200k words and have them each tween from the center of the screen as small dots and tween up to the word filling the SWF then "fly through my head" not literally, but you probably get it...
in Flash CS4 I have static text like: Line1 and line2 It's in 9 point Arial Regular as a device font. If I set the line spacing below 3.9 the second line dissappears from the compiled SWF file. It still shows in the FLA file. The same thing happens at 6pt but NOT at 5pt or less.
I had a complete interactive application built in ActionScript 2.0, and now need to revise and update it -- which means converting the old code to 3.0. The first scene is a preloader for the entire application that loads and intro animation before launching the application. I went to the help section figuring that once I had some actionScript in the file, I could delete and experiment with the code until I began to understand (I did take a semester long course in Java, but not much has been retained). If you couldn't tell already, I'm a designer and not a programmer.
I copied the ActionScript from the help section, and pasted it into my Flash document. I went to test movie and got the following error message: "1037: Packages cannot be nested" I can't even figure out what that means! I have nothing else in my document.
I have a little math problem with a game I'm making, and I can't for the life of me figure out the formula needed to accomplish something..Say, there's a sniping game, and a BIG image that must scroll from left to right according to the mouse movement.
Something like this:[URL]... In that example, the scene is 550 pixels wide, and the image is 1100, exactly two times the scene, so the formula is kinda easy..
[Code]...
the center of the image would be at x 1500, way over to the right of the scene, outside it, but it would fit inside the screen, like this (the blue square represents the real size of the scene):[URL]..Then when the mouse is at the far right side, that is 550 x, the image center should be at -950 x, like this:[URL]...
I have a 3 screen project and there are two buttons on each screen that have to be able to enable the user to jump to the appropriate screens when clicked on. I am totally new to flash and I have tried off and on for a couple weeks to figure this out in various books and online. I just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.
