Apr 13, 2009I have a movie clip that displays an embedded html with a bunch of divs that are expected to hide and show other divs when the users click them. i.e. imagine that you have a span with an instruction in javascript to show a div when you click it. I already made the html file, the external css and the external js. The movieclip (in actionscript 3.0) loads and displays the html content and also the css, but i haven't managed to figure out how am i supposed to link or use the javascript to do the trick. I've tried so far doing an exhausting research over the internet for the past few days and the only infromation i've got is that web developers use externalInterface to access javascript functions, but they use flash buttons to execute the js code, and it appears to me that i cannot use or embed flash btns in my site. I don't know, I'm kinda new to flash and this is the first time I work with actionscript 3.[code]or how do I achieve de hide/show thing with another method? I'll be wandering around the site in case you have any extra doubts about this subject.

Jul 9, 2009I have a flash map. There are 6 clickable countries on the map. When one clicks on a country I want html content to appear under the flash movie. As far as I can see the best way to accomplish this is to have all the content already under the flash movie each in a separate div, with display set to hidden. Then action script inside the country buttons calls a javascript function on the html when that button is clicked, to set display:block for corresponding content filled div. I've tried a few scripts but couldn't get it working.

Is there anything else i should do when imbedding flash into my page so that the flash can talk to the html and call the javascript?

Apr 20, 2011the thing i'm searching for my site is something that can show, and after 10 seconds, hide some html.Exactly is for a games site. I want to show ads during 10 seconds, and after this time, load the .SWF file of the game.During 10 seconds i want to show the window of the ad in the center of the field where later the game will be displayed. It's like a 700x500px window.One of the problems is that the ad window maybe 300x200px and i want to put it in the center. It's like i want to make a scene of 10 seconds with tha ad showing like the game is loading.I beg you to answer in a begginer level, i'm not expert in scripts, just know some html, that's why i'm a bit overwhelmed with the info i found in the net.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Show And Hide A Darned Button
Apr 13, 2009I need to progress. [URL] The Adobe documentation assumes you are an expert with Flash and there are no clear cut examples of how to even show and hide a darned button, well, I can't find any referrences. I can imagine what I want to do with flash, but getting anything out of it cracks open my brain. Programming is not fair!!! for us graphic artists. Examples of things I want to study are loading images to the stage on a specific event such as "if(enterFrame == x)" ideally I would like the images to load from a directory on the server and ease in the image.
Basically I want to keep it simple yet effective. Alot of the code I see out there is double dutch to me and appears to go in the wrong direction of simplifying things. I can understand the basic fundamentals, but I wish when people post examples like myMC1.visible = true; that they explain that myMC1 is just a name chosen by the writer to look for an item called myMC1 or go the extra step and color code the code BLUE for actual code, RED for names of items given by the writer that exist on the stage etc etc...

Jul 2, 2011I want to show/hide a symbol (movie clip) when i mouse over/out another symbol (button) and also want to move the movie clip as motion of mouse by attaching to the mouse... for this.. i think i have to use startDrag action but i am confused how.
if i use action on button like:

where "abc" is instance name of movie clip it will do the work but it doesnt give effect of appearing and dissapearing the movie clip when i mouse over the button.

Jul 13, 2011I have been tasked with adding button functionality for a fence companies flash application. Specifically, the buttons will be in a drop down horizontal menu. They will have to display (and hide) certain accessories that will be placed on the fence or are a part of the fence itself. For an example of something similar, please check out the design studio at this site -[URL]. It is the application about halfway down the page and after hitting the APP MENU button, it is the top most option.note that as the fence moves (by scrollers) the accessories always stay with the fence. So, I am guessing that the whole thing is a movieclip and that the buttons are referencing?, showing?, hiding? certain aspects of the movieclip.

May 14, 2009I have an animation that shows items highlighted in a diagram. As the items are highlighted, the audio will play (to explain the animation). because we are creating this for people with possible disabilities, we also created captions with text for the audio. So, in separate layers, we created speech bubbles and text that is synchronized to the animated actions on the screen. this will also be synchronized with the audio. We want to have a button (close captioning button) that when users press it, they see the text captions and if they press it again, they don't see the text captions. my questions are
1) what will be the easiest way to create the effect i am looking for?
2) what actionscript command will i need for the button's actions?

Dec 23, 2011make an graphic (just a box with text in it) be shown as default, then when the user clicks (either clicks the box or anywhere or a cross - anything!) the window is hidden, then if the user wants to see the box again, they can click a button saying 'show info'.
And I looked on the forums and found ( showthread.php3?t=66284" ) << I can't post links because my post count is too low .
But I tried that (both methods mentioned) and i can't seem to get them to do anything?

Jun 29, 2011Basically the majority of my content is flash based. I designed it using Flash Builder (Flex) and Its in a liquid layout, (everything is in percents) and if im JUST embedding the flash content it scales to the page fine, and i have the flash content set to have a padding of 50 px.
I put a header div in fine with no problems, but I have 2 problems, the first being the footer div seems to cover up the buttom of the flash content in IE, but it looks just fine in chrome. How can I solve this? I'm using the stock embed code that Flex provides, I tried to edit the css style for the div which I think is #flashContent and give it a min width and min height but it didnt seem to work, actually anything I did to #flashContent didn't seem to do anything, maybe its not the div i need to be adding that attribute to...
And my other problem is I dont even know where to start when it comes to placing a div thats 280width by 600height colum to the right side of the flash content. If i could specify a size for the flash content, and the float it left, and float the colum right, and clear it with the container div id be just fine....But remember the flash content is set to 100% Scale (well techically 100%x80% because it looked better that way). how I can start to deal with creating a more complex scaleable flash layouts that includes other divs? ALL WELL MAINTAINING IE SUPPORT? IE is ruining my life.

Oct 13, 2009Several arrays are created by passing a number (k) from a different array,for every item in the array I need to have a little dot.I have a movieclip on the timeline with a maximum of 15 dots.So if the array has only 6 items, the last 9 dots should dissapear.
