I'm having trouble getting my swf to load its xml data on a site. It seems like the swf is properly embedded if only for the fact that I can click on the invisible link it has to another part of the site. However, the rest of the slideshow won't start online but does locally. I've checked to see if relative or absolute references are the problem and it doesn't seem to change anything.[URL]

I need to build a front-end site that I can have a forms page that will push data to the backend SWF, and then return the data back from the SWF to the front end.
Front-end -> SWF (Zip Code, Weight, Size) -> *Calculates* -> Front-End
That should be the flow.. So I need to send data to the backend, GET the data that it calculated, and return the results to my front-end.
I'm pretty new/bad at actionscript (3) for web. I have a site up for a client/friend [URL], but it takes FOREVER to load. I'm under the impression that a good way to make the site load faster is to load in swf's externally. Right now, the site, in its entirety, is one big movieclip. I have large images (movieclips) for background images. If you look at the site and are kind enough to wait for it to load (aprox. 45 seconds or so) you will notice how the background image changes when you click to go to each section.
I am trying to find a way to load in the background as external .swf's to cut down on the initial load time. I'm also open to any other ideas. Below is the as3 code for my buttons/how they direct the site. I'm hoping to use a similar/generic style to load the background images. I'm hoping to load the movieclips underneath the rest of the site, and use the same naming scheme (e.g. homeBTN.swf) to keep it organized.

I know a bit of javascript, HTML, CSS, VBA and just general programming structures (functions, loops, etc.)A sports betting website posts numerical data (odds) on its flash only website. The question is, how can I get the data not by pixel scraping or packet sniffing, but by intruding and "listening" to the data stream and capturing the data I want? I am pretty sure there is NO function like getOddsGameID(223) or something. I think the betting odds data transfer may be initiated by the server and not from some timed function within script itself. So I need to sort of pretend I am a browser and get the raw data before it goes into flash interpreter.
I have an SWF that calls an XML file to display some images.
When the SWF, XML and image files are all in the same directory the SWF runs fine, displaying all the images.
What I want to do is display the SWF within a HTML page that I have created in dreamweaver.
I've inserted all the files into the same directory within the site and when I test the page the SWF loads but it doesnt carry out any of the actions prescribed in the XML file.
Could anyone point me to a tutorial or tell me where I should put the XML & image files in my site structure and if I need to alter the AS that calls the xml (Currently - xml.load("icons.xml");)
I am struggling with the following situation. An addToCart button adds an item to the PayPal cart with the code below, which does work, but has the result that the visitor is directed to the PayPal site during the shopping process. The transfer of the data should however happen in the background and the visitor should only be directed to the PayPal site when the view cart option is clicked. I apologize if this has been covered already, but I'm not sure where to start because I don't know the proper setup for this. I've been making Flash sites for a while and am pretty comfortable with it, including actionscripting, but I have a real estate client that wants to be able to update their site with new roperties themselves. Obviously a simple HTML page would be easiest, but I wanted to find out how this would be done in flash. Most of the examples I see are for linking to xml data tables and the like which doesn't seem to be exactly what I'm looking for. How would I go about making an "area" in flash in which they could load a new picture and a couple paragraphs? Would I have Flash look for a whole html page, or define a picture and paragraph objects that are individually replaced, protecting the formatting/design? Is this possible/a good way to go about it?

I've done some quick research on this and I understand there are different ways to query SharePoint. I must say it's been a long process for me to try to piece different bits of information to achieve what I'm asked to do.
So here it is. Develop a site using SharePoint 2007 with Flash content.User input in the Flash objects will be stored.Previous user input will be retrieved and displayed in the Flash objects for reviewing purpose.User input will later be processed/manipulated for reporting purposes.Embed FLV videos on certain pages. I understand data can be saved as lists in SharePoint and you can create custom ASPX to get the lists and parse it as XML input for a Flash object. Can I reverse this process when it comes to saving data?
What would be the best approach to implement the above requirements in SharePoint 2007 environment?
Or, should I consider saving data in an external DB, say MSSQL, and having custom ASPX query that DB and generate XML for Flash objects? Or maybe any APIs that can make this process easier?
I just uploaded my exported swf to the site for the first time and it's running the movie but, either not reading the xml file or reading the xml and not loading the images.

View 2 RepliesI can't seem to load a swf from another domain. I'm not doing this from another flash file or anything. Just a page on SiteB.com trying to load a swf to display on SiteA.com. That flash file on SiteA.com does load an xml file from SiteA.com though using the full path to the xml file (domain and all). This is my crossdomain.xml file that has been placed on the main level of the domain:

Im new to placing external data into Flash. I just got CS3 and Im trying to use Flash to dynamically load XML data via a FlashVars call in the HTML.
The problem is I have followed the very straight forward AS2 Help files for using FlashVars and URL variables.I have placed the code directly from the Help file into the Html between

Whenever the xml.load(success) returns false I have the Flash email me a debug report. For the life of me I can not find a common thread between all of these people having problems with the Flash. I don't think it's a cross-domain issue because it works for most people, and I have the crossdomain.xml files where they should be.

I have an Access Database (doesn't need to be Access, I can phpAdmin or mysql, whatever will work) that has a list of names. I want the user to open a Flash form and have the names load up into seperate input boxes for each name. The user can then change the names, move them, whatever, and then save the record. I want it to just overwrite the record. I donlt want create a new record. I cannot, for the life of me, figure this out. I have tried to find some tutorials but nothing makes sense. Is ASP a good way to go? I have been struggling with this for a week now.

i load in AS3 data into flash and mantain their data type? Like receiving an array and even with arrays in it and recognizing that is an array instead of a standard string.

View 2 Replieswinning designer, went about building a portfolio website. He left for Vermont and me hanging. When loaded, in browser, it will not start automatically and load the first page. When I load it up in Flash CS5.5, and preview it does not work at all, I think it is something to do with finding swf in the location.
