Jul 30, 2011I'm working on a game whose background has many layers that each scroll at different speeds.
Inside each layer I have a Sprite, I've started using graphics.beginBitmapFill, but what I've found is that the graphics.clear() function doesn't actually clear the contents set by the previous call to graphics.begin.BitmapFill. Each frame, I adjust the matrix to shift the layer as needed. Then, I call graphics.clear() and graphics.beginBitmapFill() with the adjusted matrix. Since my layers have alphas in the bitmap, I can see the contents that was drawn the previous frame.

Jan 19, 2007I'm creating a small app to run from CD-Rom/local installation that will use multiple shared objects for data storage. To ensure proper saving without surprising the user with a permissions dialog unexpectedly, I'd like to request unlimited data storage on first time app launch - Joey Lott shows how to do this in the Actionscript Cookbook... request=mySO.flush(1024 * 500);
My question is,Can I perform this permissions request with the user a single time with a generic app SO in global fashion, so that the permissions would be set for any SOs created during the use of the product (all written to same SO directory),or do I have to request
permissions for each and every SO created? Since the latter would be unacceptable from a UE standpoint, that means stuffing all app data into a single SO which doesn't seem so great from a data config perspective...

The problem is I have followed the very straight forward AS2 Help files for using FlashVars and URL variables.I have placed the code directly from the Help file into the Html between

Sep 5, 2006We have implemented a Flash photo slideshow on our site and it works just fine for most of our users. Whenever the xml.load(success) returns false I have the Flash email me a debug report. For the life of me I can not find a common thread between all of these people having problems with the Flash. I don't think it's a cross-domain issue because it works for most people, and I have the crossdomain.xml files where they should be.

Jan 14, 2008I have an Access Database (doesn't need to be Access, I can phpAdmin or mysql, whatever will work) that has a list of names. I want the user to open a Flash form and have the names load up into seperate input boxes for each name. The user can then change the names, move them, whatever, and then save the record. I want it to just overwrite the record. I donlt want create a new record. I cannot, for the life of me, figure this out. I have tried to find some tutorials but nothing makes sense. Is ASP a good way to go? I have been struggling with this for a week now.

When debugging in Flash Builder there is an option to clear to application data on each (debug) launch of the ADL (see screenshot below) However, I can't find this setting in IntelliJ or some ADL parameter to force a clear on each new debug session. I was wondering if such an option exist in IntelliJ or ADL.
A little background: I'm using the PersistanceManager in the application to store some user settings and I want to be able to start the application without the saved settings from my previous run. Using this setting in Flash Builder does the trick, but I'm having no luck with IntelliJ.

Everything works great except for the dynamic text field which displays the song title. How to structure the hierarchy to make automatic changes to those parent nodes, if their children's data changed? For example:
Every node has a warning flag. If some of the children warning flag changed to true, then the parent warning flag should change automatically set to true. A node integer field is the sum of the children integer fields, and if any of the children changes, the parent integer field "calculates" the sum immediately. Is there an easy solution wit good structuring changes happen automatically, or I have to make some custom functions?

Flex :: Value In Datagrid Itemrenderers Set Data Method Doesn't Return The Correct Data?

The Column's dataprovider is a Number value that gets updated via Binding.Now, without an item renderer the cell displays the correct values.If I set an item renderer, I can't access the values in this renderer.My renderer looks like this, so nothing really do here (for now) but to trace the value, but the value is always NaN.

Mar 21, 2008Been butting my head against the wall on this one. Im making a news app that loads xml data and diplays the data onto 3 seperate textfields. The 3rd textfield has auto size set to true, so that the height of each instance of the attached movie is always going to be different from each other. I need to figure out how to get the height from each instance of the attached movie and use those numbers for the verticle tiling so that they dont run into each other.
heres what I got so far. Its the "duke news" box. If you scroll down in the news box, you will see that the text starts running into each other.
