Data Integration :: Load XML Data From Remote Server?
May 8, 2006
I am trying to have a PHP page load some variables into aFlash banner ad that will be running on 8 different websites...I need to have one central location for the PHP page andallow 8 other domains access this data...I am finding that when everything is on one server... noissues... data reads just fine...But when the PHP page is on one server and the SWF file onanother... the data never gets through...I am assuming this is some issue with security within
Have a flash, that loads XML from server. Flash uses it to built up a site menu. Both xml and flash reside on the same host. When I try to run server locally - everything works. But when I try it online, XML is loaded only in FireFox, but in IE it can't be loaded. Flash movie itself loaded normally (I can right-click on it and see standard menu). I put my host into Trusted sites in IE and set very low security/privacy. I don't have any firewalls or proxies. I also put my host and flash movie into Trusted source in Flash Settings Manager.
I've been making a simple RSS reader flash widget for my webpage. It works perfectly when I test it locally, but when I publishit, I always get the No.Data.Received error. I've played with allthe parameters on the XMLConnector and all the publish settings, but no dice. The only thing that I can think of is that I'm loading RSSfrom a different site, but it isn't restricted in any way.
Im new to placing external data into Flash. I just got CS3 and Im trying to use Flash to dynamically load XML data via a FlashVars call in the HTML.
The problem is I have followed the very straight forward AS2 Help files for using FlashVars and URL variables.I have placed the code directly from the Help file into the Html between <noscript> <noscript>and i keep getting undefined.I have tried saving the file as flash 8 and i am publish flash 8.
We have implemented a Flash photo slideshow on our site and it works just fine for most of our users. Whenever the xml.load(success) returns false I have the Flash email me a debug report. For the life of me I can not find a common thread between all of these people having problems with the Flash. I don't think it's a cross-domain issue because it works for most people, and I have the crossdomain.xml files where they should be.
I have an Access Database (doesn't need to be Access, I can phpAdmin or mysql, whatever will work) that has a list of names. I want the user to open a Flash form and have the names load up into seperate input boxes for each name. The user can then change the names, move them, whatever, and then save the record. I want it to just overwrite the record. I donlt want create a new record. I cannot, for the life of me, figure this out. I have tried to find some tutorials but nothing makes sense. Is ASP a good way to go? I have been struggling with this for a week now.
I currently have a Flash app that gets populated by parsing data from an external XML file. However, I need to get the XML data into a (JSP) session and can't neccesarily have an external XML file--any suggestions? Can I put the XML string into a hidden input field in a form on the HTML? Can Flash communicate with that HTML? Or are one of the below methods recommended:
I'm making a small flash app that's going to have a data capture form at the end. The problem is that it's going to be hosted on someone else's server and we need to capture the data ourselves. Our server is ASP and I really need the data from the form to be sent to us where it will be written to a database. - Is this possible at all? I've been looking into URLLoader and URLVariables but our tests aren't working so far.
Here is the AS3 code I'm using in the flash file..
I am trying to access a FTP server that allows anonymous access to the data files stored on the server.. they are stored as txt files... I want to display some of the files in a flash CS4 Movie... It is also on a HTTP server directory...
I have accomplished it within the CS4 Flash development application using the HTTP Server but when I publish the document it gives me a blank stage the data that shows in the Test Movie swf is not showing when the SWF is on its own... I am thinking it has something to do with crossdomain security that is built in... is there a way I can accomplish this? I prefer the FTP access but will use the HTTP access...
I have a problem loading remote XML file into SWF file. Im doing a banner for a client with adds that is supose to load constantly updated XML file from my clients server and load some images into flash form it. Everything works fine when i test the movie (CTRL+ENTER), but when i publish it and test it from explorer, XML file is just not loading into flash.
I finally completed a flash 8(AS 2.0) that uses the netdrims component/Netdrims php file, toload one mySQL database, use it, and then save new to 4different tables in that database.3. This was proven to work on my local, offline PC usingmySQL 5.x, Apache, php 5.x, and myPHPAdmin.4. As this is my first time, I want to upload the mySQLdatabase, html, and swf files to my server.(i.e. migration of completed flash, php,SQL project fromlocalhost to server)5.The host of my Linux server runs appropriate versions ofApache, mySQL, php.6. What considerations are important?Do I need to change the component path from localhost tosomething else? How do I set up the root password to the mySQL database onhe server, etc.
So I have an html file with a swf in the center which loads pictures and text via XML. It works fine on my own computer but on the actual site it doesn't load the pictures or text it, in any browser.
Throwing this out there. I would like to know how to haveflash grab an XML URL from the embed tag (i.e. embed src=""flashvars="profile=http://xmlfile.xml". Reason:I make thesemyspace templates for people to use, but they can only be edited bypeople who own flash. If the user could edit an XML file with allof their content, then they would be able to use the layoutsregardless of whether or not they have flash. Does anyone here know how to do this? I believe it issomething like this on an actions layer:
I like to call for different SWF files from a link in a MySQL database to use in a Detailpage with PHP. Photos and text are no problem. The AC code is probably complicating things.
I made a flash music player for my server the player works perfectly and loads the xml data when viewed on my computer and even when it has been uploaded to the server IF I view it by itself but once I try and view my HTML file, all of the information for the songs comes up as undefined, so none of the songs will play.
My problem is a little unusual. I have a perl script thatdoes this great job, but I want to make a flash interface for it.The thing is that I don't want the flash to load any new pages orpop-ups when executing the script and so looking as if the flash
I am in the process of creating a flash site for friend of mine. He wants to be able to have a guest list for his events in DC. I have created form boxes and have given them all "instance names". But I have absoultely NO clue how to have the text entered by people trying to get on the guest list sent to my server so we can all read it.
I have a book on Flash but it really doest explain how to do it at all. I'm guessing I need to do some actionscript?
where you can load an image from a SQL database ? I would like to show this image in Flash, but i don't know how to load in from a SQL database using ASP.
I have a created a flash searchable database with xml, following this tutorial url...It seem to be work great but my the xml file seems to be too large so when certain words are search I get a script error and eventually freezing up, my question is Is there a way to tell flash to load the 10 or 20 records at a time? By loading sections of the xml one at a time will this stop the script error?
I have my XML data loading into my SWF OK. However, is there any way to call that tag name instead of the child node number? So instead of something like this[code]...
It will not load the image from the database using ASP. I set Images as a variable from ASP. It was displaying "images/img1.jpg" instead of image visually.
I am looking to have one html page with many links. When I click a link, I want to load an swf file somewhere else on the page (audio or video files). I am happy to use flash or javascript to call the different swf's.
i'm creating a weather forecast map .. a flat map and then icons appear on top of it in specific areas.. but i have a folder that contains the icons .. and daily a mysql database gets updated with the filenames to be used on each icon according to the weather on that area..
I've really looked hard to find an example/tutorial for loading external XML data into a DataGrid component using AS3. The code I'm using at the moment has the XML data in the AS code.
Here is the code that is working for internal XML data: import fl.controls.dataGridClasses.DataGridColumn; import fl.data.DataProvider; stop(); var emailXML:XML = <emails> [Code] .....
am having this problem of sending XML request to an addresswhich starts with "https". The problem is I always get the errormessage "Error opening URL "https:......."", instead of the actualresponse which should be in XML format as well. The function I am using is "sendAndLoad()"requestXML and responseXML are objects of XML class . Whatfunction "sendAndLoad" above does is to post variables in the"requestXML" object to the specified URL "servelet_address". Theserver response is downloaded, parsed as variable data, and theresulting variables are placed in the responseXML object. However, as I stated above, I always get the error message.
I've got several archived text files - 040107.txt,040207.txt, 040307.txt, for example - and I want to be able to build a dynamic link which loads whichever file is selected intothe Flash movie. This list needs to be able to build itself as Iwrite new files every day and add the old ones to the archive.
I have a website im making in which jpgs are loaded through the loader component (using flash pro 2004) and I set the path and to autoload but the jpg. files won't load; something to note I have many instances of one loader but with different paths for different pictures.
