Every time I try to load text from websites onto my flash program, it also includes a lot of white space and the website header/title, which i don't want. here is my actionscript

I have an HTML website with a flash header and dropdown menu.In the beginning, the flash dropdown menu would not show at all untili found the wmode=transparent trick.The menus are now showing properly except for one specific page wherethe text on the page show up OVER the dropdown menu. In all otherpages, the dropdown menu shows up on top of any text that may be inthere.There's nothing on that particular page jumping at me that would causethe problem. In fact, the page uses the same CSS file as the otherpages. I'm really clueless.I'm not sure if it's a flash problem or HTML/CSS problem.
The only difference i could think of was that the page was called froma combobox change event. But i switched the page called to anotherpage i know works with the menu and it was fine. So the problem doesnot come from the combobox calling the page, it really is the pageitself.Does anyone have a clue?Working page sample (sorry its in french)click on Nos Services. You can see how the menu shows up over the bolded text.Now click on the combobox and select the first item listed in it.
I'm aware of the fact the iPad doesn't support flash so I'm trying to figure out how I can detect an ipad visiting my site and provide an alternate html header. I'm sure there must be some code snipit I can add to my site but have not been able to find something.
View 2 Repliesi'm gonna make a flash header in cs4 to be placed on the webpage of a friend. the flash header is going to contain some small images and some text, all this is easy to do, but i'm wondering about how to publish it to the web, is a swf file and the html file enough? i want to create a text document where my friend later can exchange the images and the texts for his webpage by himself, without him having to do this in a flash programme. is this possible?

Question: i have to make an animated header for the web site. several seconds it's going on and is stoped with action script command stop(); but i need one elenment inside flash-header continue animating like here: [URL] a rolling logo in upper left corner of header. I am an interactive design student working on a flash portfiolio and . I can't figure out how to load a game I made in flash into my porfolio so that it loads after clicking on a button, becomes playable, then have a button to leave the game and go back to my portfolio. I'm working in Actionscript 2.0 because that's all my teachers will show me and I have minimal actionscript knowledge.

The game shows up in my MC, But I cant play the game.
I've built a flash website for my client. I created the website, and it worked just fine. The client then came back with a few minor changes and additions. The only major addition was an intro animation, which I created in 3D / After effects.
Now, the website works when it's on my hard drive, but the minute I upload it, it suddenly stops at 3%. The loader dissapears, and nothing happens after that. I have tried deleting the additions, including the animation, and the updated menu. Same problem, only the point at where it stops loading becomes 5% instead of 3%. I have tried removing the preloader, and creating a shell.swf, which loads the file in using an external preloader. Same problem occurs. If I link directly to the file ie [url]... then nothing happens either (that link is for example purposes only). I have tried copying frames and pasting into a new flash file (main2.swf) and same problem occurs. Lastly, I tried removing the preloader, instead creating a simple test animation that loops until the file is loaded. Also just sits there and stops loading.
I want to create a piece that allows a box to open that would hold say [URL]. The goal is to keep the user on the flash page but allow them to do a quick search without needing to leave the page. From what I can find though, flash can only render basic HTML. So far I have only found responses using As2 which gives me a slim hope but not much. I'm guessing this might be better achieved with javascript.

I know thats not a great idea, but it is not the biggest website in the world, however it does contain seven or eight .sws that take some time to load.When I test the website via a cable connection (T1), the speed of opening the website is not bad, but on DSL pretty slow.I dot want to turn people away from my site how can I make sure my flash site doest load that slow? View 4 RepliesI am new to Flash AS3 and I was following a tutorial from Lynda.com to build my website. Realized there were some things I wanted to do that they didn't have in their tutorial but I searched the net and figured it out. Now I am stuck again.
I recently made a slideshow in Fireworks and want to it to load when a user clicks to the Portfolio page on my time line. Fireworks exports the gallery into an xml and index.html that has code to automatically load the swf that contains the slide show.
I have a BitmapData object with transparency (the sourceBitmapData parameter). Every time I use copyPixels() to copy it onto another BitmapData object the transparent pixels replace whatever is beneath them. I would like the copyPixels() function to simply ignore these fully transparent pixels (0x00) and NOT copy themBTW, I've tried setting the alphaMerge to true but that doesn't solve the issue - the whole source object just goes black and ignores ALL transparency.EDIT:

I've created a quiz in flash that reads in questions and answers from an external xml file. E.g (xml).

I have been asked to develop the quiz further so it ignores the case the answer is typed in (which I guess is possible using toLowerCase) and also to ignore any ! or ? symbols the user might type in .I assume the only way to accomplish this is to check the answer against a range of possible answers in the XML eg.

I don't want the spaces or the new lines that show in the text to show in Flash. In HTML there is no new line character between the two lines either.
I have checked out this tutorial and have created my own version of this but is there any way of ignoring the character case. i.e if i searched for "happy new year" it would display results including "Happy new year"

View 3 RepliesI've built a UIComponent in AS3. When I drag it onto the stage during authoring time, the ADDED_TO_STAGE event fires.
I have an event handler, but it's really only meant to perform actions at runtime, not when I'm dropping the component onto the stage to design the layout. Is there any way to check to see if the component is "running" in a live SWF?
Basically, I don't want the ADDED_TO_STAGE event handler to do anything at design time.

never get called even if I have the component in the stage manually or via AS, but if I add a listener to MouseOver it works, why the ADDED_TO_STAGE event don't work, also I have a problem with the textFormat style if I use

I'm using flash sockets to build an embedded chat application. everything works great. I want to allow all the sites who embedded this application to connect to my server, except for some sites.
My problem is that the number of sites that I don't want to connect to my server is a very large one( 4-5k). Currently from what I seen all you can do is tell in your policy file the domains that you allow/not allow.
What I'm looking for is a way for flash player to send me the domain where the flash is embedded and I could return an accept/decline response. I know I can send info about the site where the flash is embedded using actionscript, but this can be very easy simulated.

View 6 RepliesI have a very basic intro AS3 game. i have a base.swf, level1.swf, level2.swf, level3.swf and youwin.swf.
play the game in flash and it works perfectly! evertyhing loads the way it is supposed to.
i published it, uploaded it to my site, and it plays fine until youwin.swf is supposed to load at the end. i tested it on safari, firefox and opera. it works on opera but oes not play the youwin.swf like it should with the animation.
what are the possible causes for this type of occurrence? i have checked and double checked my code to make sure my variables are correct.[code]...
The problem: I have a Flash website and created the gallery for in in a seperate swf file. I now want to load this gallery into a movieclip once the playhead reachs fram 45. I have loaded the data successfully when the button is clicked, but that's as far as it goes. I try to add it to a movieclip (gallery_mc.addChild(loadGallery); )and recieve the error: "1067: Implicit coercion of a value of type flash.net:URLLoader to an unrelated type flash.display: DisplayObject.". I probably should mention that this code is on the timeline as well, so it isn't a matter of importing events.
