I'm aware of the fact the iPad doesn't support flash so I'm trying to figure out how I can detect an ipad visiting my site and provide an alternate html header. I'm sure there must be some code snipit I can add to my site but have not been able to find something.

View 0 RepliesI have an HTML website with a flash header and dropdown menu.In the beginning, the flash dropdown menu would not show at all untili found the wmode=transparent trick.The menus are now showing properly except for one specific page wherethe text on the page show up OVER the dropdown menu. In all otherpages, the dropdown menu shows up on top of any text that may be inthere.There's nothing on that particular page jumping at me that would causethe problem. In fact, the page uses the same CSS file as the otherpages. I'm really clueless.I'm not sure if it's a flash problem or HTML/CSS problem.
The only difference i could think of was that the page was called froma combobox change event. But i switched the page called to anotherpage i know works with the menu and it was fine. So the problem doesnot come from the combobox calling the page, it really is the pageitself.Does anyone have a clue?Working page sample (sorry its in french)click on Nos Services. View 1 Repliesi'm gonna make a flash header in cs4 to be placed on the webpage of a friend. the flash header is going to contain some small images and some text, all this is easy to do, but i'm wondering about how to publish it to the web, is a swf file and the html file enough? i want to create a text document where my friend later can exchange the images and the texts for his webpage by himself, without him having to do this in a flash programme. is this possible?

My site has three "user levels" or "autentication levels" as we have "Managers", "Supervisors" and "Staff" levels.
For testing purposes, we have placed the below actionscript in the first frame of my project. The purpose of this actionscipt is to reference the "authentication level" that the user is using (as they will have already signed in so we are simply looking to obtain their "auth level").

how to go about getting the Flash Player(s) that's built into the CS5 IDE updated? According to System.capabilities.version, it's running v10.1.52.14 which, according to this page on the Adobe site, says was a pre-release version of Flash Player and should not be used! It also seems to have an annoying bug where HTML tags are frequently shown as raw HTML, rather than being rendered, which makes testing stuff in the IDE a real pain.
View 12 RepliesLets make it simple. Lets say I have the stage with a combo box. I will have 100 frames with the combo box tweening from position to another. I easily can do it and see the animation of the combobox over the timeline. But when I create the swf file, the animation doesn't work. This also happens to all the other components. They don't accept any type of animation except if they are embeded in another movie clip.

I'm working on an iPad app using AIR for iOS and I'm wondering how I call on video files basic controls.
The app I'm working on is just a mobile presentation for our studio's production work, so I just want to be able to add our showreel and some other videos of work we've done.
I'm using Flash CS5.5 and have got swipe gestures responding on my iPad. The only problem is that they don't animate and I'm wondering if anyone has had any luck in replicating the smooth iOS swipes using Actionscript 3.0. I found a solution using ENTER FRAME but it was really slow and jerky.
View 19 RepliesApple is obviously rejecting Flash to protect it's 'App' revenue. I've been on Android phones that run Flash and display all my content perfectly smooth. It can be quite frustrating how they are trying to bury it when I still have yet to see HTML5 replicate the type of interactive content Flash is capable of producing. Is there any way to display a message on the iPad when the Flash player is not found? I'd like it to says something along the lines of: "Unfortunately the Apple iPad does not support the Flash player because their business interests do not want it taking away from their App revenue. Did you know that the Dell Streak, HTC Flyer, Blackberry Playbook, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Toshiba Thrive, and HP Touchpad all support the Flash player?"

Where is the actual or working code and why are they not using package { } keywords? Instead they declare classes using the intrinsic class keywords. What is intrinsic and why would i want to have intrinsic classes? Can i also make intrinsic classes? Why are some classes under "fl" like import fl.transitions.Tween; and others are under "flash" like flash.display.MovieClip.
Additional: The classes in enFirst RunClassesFP8flash are not complete... Where are the other classes like flash.display.MovieClip located? I only see BitmapData under display. There must be another "flash" folder not under FP8 and FP9 but i can't find it with a simple search. Also enConfigurationActionScript 3.0Classesfl is incomplete i think. Is the organization of files bad? Some imports are with "fl" others are with "flash"
We are looking to use flash to create iOS apps, so we have downloaded the latest version of flash, but when testing on the iPad we see pixalation, is there a later version of cs5.5 or an update that will fix this issue?
Or is there a setting beside the setting Resolution set to High...
I did read somewhere about AIR3 is going to better renderring for 3D, but will it be for the iPad and also what about 2D rendering, I mean it is vectors aand I thought they did not pixelate.

View 3 RepliesI want to draw some combination of bitmaps, flash shapes, vectors, text etc and draw them programmatically into my movie using ActionScript, and then get every "rendered" pixel of my movie (at 100% view) into an array that I send to another program over TCP/IP. The first part of the question is if its possible to render a frame that is a collection of Flash elements as a bitmap? I know that I can iterate through a bitmap and get every pixel using the getPixel method but I'm trying to access the final rendered frame displayed on my screen, including, as I said Flash shapes and text.
The second question is what would be the best way to send this "video frame" over TCP/IP? Would I use an XML socket connection? That is the only way I know how to send data out of Flash over TCP/IP but I don't know if it is the only way - the help page says the data needs to be formatted as XML, which seems unwieldly for this application. I'm doing this now by using Max/MSP/Jitter to do a screen capture the size and location of my Flash movie and then send out the resulting matrix using a "jit.net.send" object (which lets you send frames of video over TCP/IP), but this is too clumsy for the installation I am building.
Ive been doing Photoshop work for some time and am now looking into doing some flash for my website. If you look at my header on my site http:[url].. it is a Jpeg at the momment for the title. What I want to know is that if i replace the header with flash is there away that I can add code so that if someone has a low bandwidth connection it would not load the flash and use the Jpeg image instead. The reason being is I know how bad it is waiting for flash to load on some websites when bandwidth is limited and it would be good to give people the option upon loading.

I have saved it as a SWF file and it works perfectly on my PC with the ability to sweep through the page turns. My issue is now, what type of file can I export the SWF file to so that I can view it on an iPad and am still able to have the page curls?

I'm trying to use a fla as a banner on my site. So far the best method I have is: export fla from flash as quicktime mov THEN use media encoder to convert mov to flv THEN insert the flv onto my site with dreamweaver. This works for me except when I try to view the site on an ipad, the animation doesn't run because flash player has to be loaded and that's not possible on an ipad.How can I make this banner viewable to someone on an Ipad as well as a regular PC?I'm thinking by somehow uploading the mov to the site (which I don't know how to do yet) and then having some kind of code or something that makes the mov play for ipad and the flv play for everyone else.
View 5 RepliesI've created an app in Flash Professional CS5.5 and when I install it on iTunes, I see the icon in the list, and when I sync the iPad, it even comes up on the iPad 'pages' in iTunes, however doesn't show up in the actual iPad.
