i have an mp3 media player set up, with a position bar to show the progress of the song that's currently playing. i'd like to make this bar interactive, so that the user can scroll through or jump to any part of the song. i haven't been able to find any useful tutorials or forum posts which teach this element. if you could show me how this is done, or point me in the right direction that would be great

far as I understand, the bottleneck of streaming servers are with network connection rather than CPU or resources (servers are only support up to 4GB of RAM anyway).
I have a custom app for a one-to-one chat (chatroulette style) and it seems that I cannot get more then 730 users although at that time I'm using 25% cpu 22% ram and about 120mbits (1 gbps available). Clean 4.5 install with no custom adjustments. My developers say that, according to the logs, I've a problem on a protocol level. I have no idea of what's happening (fmscore is active - no crashes), maybe is this the limit for a 1 gbps line? I'm using Windows 2008 R2 Web Edition, I've red somewhere that this particular version of Windows "may" have connection limits, maybe is this the reason?

When i was in undergrad, i took a course called interactive media that was mostly about flash. When i was working on a project and i became stuck on something because of a problem i didnt know how to fix, i could just ask my instructor for some help. He'd give me thorough, common language answers. This is what i need. The class only taught me the basics. Tutorials and tech jive forums don't help me very much.
I imagine no one wants to do this kind of thing for free. So paying for a service is an option. Where can i find a service like this?

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to make an interactive video player where you have a choice of 3 buttons and each button links to a different frame that has a video player embedded in it. Once on of the frames are brought up, I have a button to take you back to the main screen. However, after clicking back to the main screen, I'm running into the following output error:
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.

I have the videos streaming, and am not sure how I could get the FLV videos to stop playing when I click the flash's "Return to Samples" button. Right now, the users would have to pause the video if they don't want it to play in the background as they go back to the first frame.
I have vod files that need to be restricted to only the IP range of the ISP service. The live streaming can be available to all, how do I restrict vod access in the FMS Interactive Server, is it in the following?Virtual host on Interactive Sever:

Would I edit these files for that restriction, how do I put the IP range in format wise?

I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a loading testing tool for interactive apps like a chat app. The reason I asked is because the company I worked experienced some issues where cores where crashing and we are trying to determined if the issue is load.

I'm told you can only have up to 500 simultaneous connections, but I'm wondering if that applies to rtmp connections, or just to rtmfp connections.
I have installed FMS on windows2003 std on a dedicated server. The server was running windows media services, shoutcast and IIS6 I have killed all these services and am just running FMS so as far as i know port 80 is not in use I can connect the encoder using this address rtmpt://xx.xx.xx.xx:1935/live Does anyone know why i cant just use rtmp://
also if i load the interactive tab on the index page in the webroot, I can connect and i can view the stream but no matter what code i use to embed the player, they all fail to connect yet i can view the stream on the interactive tab.
I've been trying to set up an instance of Flash Media Interactive Server on Amazon Web Services for an AVChat (avchat.net). I signed up for the service here:[URL] I have some simple questions on getting it started --- namely: do I create the FMIS instance myself now that I've signed up, or do I need to go ahead and create it? I see under the EC2 tab I can create an instance under 'Community AMIs' for adobe-flashmediaserver-useast/fms-4.0.1.8011-centos-5.5-ami-1.manifes t.xml Is this what I want? Hi, Im curious if we can publish on multiple sites, I have 5 websites all password protected for members, and I want all 5 members areas to be able to view my live video as I publish it. So can I embed the flash player on all 5 sites and have it pick up the same live feed. View 1 RepliesI'm completely new to FMS but a seasoned Flex developer. We're building a Flash Builder 4.5 application which will be deployed to iPads. The basic functional requirements are as follows:
1. Presenter in a room has a camera streaming video of themselves2. Participants in the same room have an iPad - there are 30 participants and the stream is sent to all 30 iPads simultaneously.3. There must be lowest delay possible with good quality video - we understand this can be achieved with RTMP and that VP6 has to be used (as there is no H.264 support at present in AIR on iOS)4. The presenter will trigger certain things from their iPad which will then display certain alerts, content on the partcipants iPad (from server connection the participant iPads are listening to)
Firstly, I'm interested to know your thoughts on this current spec. This was put together from zero initial experience with FMS and having read a lot online and creating a proof-of-concept. Secondly, with regards to the two-way interaction: Is this something FMS handles? Previously I have used LCDS or BlazeDS for the data events & streaming aspects of our applications. Initially I was planning on using BlazeDS again, in addition to FMS. But from what I have read FMS possible handles data push too? Does FMS have LCDS/Blaze built in in some way?
I would like to build a video conferencing app that supports H.264. Is there a way to use Flash to do that? I understand that Flash natively supports the Sorensen Spark video codec and that you need to use Flash Live Encoder 3 for H.264 encoding. I can't seem to find any documentation that shows me how to use FLE3 with ActionScript.

View 1 RepliesI have a swc plugin embedded in my product to stream live video to a group of recipients.The plugin uses the NetStream, NetGroup and NetConnection objects, the server I use to handle the RTMFP session is Influxis.One client creates a group as a publisher, and stream a live video.His Camera is enabled and I can see the video on the screen as well. The others connect to his group and play the video.Peer assisted Networking is enabled for both the publisher and the recipients.The plugin worked well in all 10.x versions (10.1/10.2/10.3)However, when upgrading to flash player 11.x, it stopped working.

-only 10.x to 10.x is working.
The server I use to handle the RTMFP protocol is Influxis.com I sent them the same question as well.The weirdest fact is that I'm using flash builder 4.6 with 4.6 sdk, which is aimed for flash player 11.1, and it is only working with 10.x flash players.
We are streaming live events encoding using H.264, so therefore we have to save the file as a .f4v. However, whenever I try to play the file, I keep getting a "playback failed" in Adobe Media Player. What could I be missing? Is there anything else I need to do in Flash Media Live Encoder?

We purchased Flash Media Streaming Server Interactive edition in order to have the security featuers of not allowing unauthorized connections streaming live content to the server. Is there a document with procedures that details how to make this happen, the allowedHTMLdomains.txt does not work when you place in IP ranges that you do not want connecting. I need some help just to figure out a way to keep someoen from connecting to the server and not streaming live content. Has anyone configured this in Linux because the documentation is mainly for Windows. Any help/advice would be great since this seems to be a common problem for anyone who runs Linux.
