ActionScript 3.0 :: Keep Mc In Same Position On Screen If Its Container Mc Moves?

I have a large movieclip that contains all the elements of my game - the level backgrounds, the player character, the non-player characters etc. The stage is only a quarter of its width and when the player character moves off the edge of the stage the whole game movieclip moves a quarter width to the left or right, depending on which side the player character has left the stage from.
Each of the quarters of this large game movieclip are considered levels of the game (so there are four levels, obviously) and what I want to know is how do i get an object that exists in one level to appear in exactly the same position on screen in the next level, when the player moves to that level?

I have a popup window. In that popup window, when a user clicks a button and moves out of the popup window, the event should stop. How can I achieve this in flex?
Simply to say, if a mouse moves from the title window or any other container to the outside of the window or component, I want to listen to that event.
I tried with focus out but that fires only when user clicks or changes the component. I also tried with the mouse out event, it also didn't work for me.
how to listen for the event when a user moves a mouse from inside a component to the outside of the component?

I have a basic script that moves a movieclip to the opposite Y position of the mouse pointer:

Everything works great, but I'd really love to be able to ease the box to it's Y position, rather than moving it to it's final position immediately. I'm having a difficult time with it because the box is moved based on the mouse position, which obviously doesn't ease.

I am trying to make my screen scroll as my character moves to the edge of it, but when I get to the edge of the screen nothing happens, I think this could be something to do with my registration points but I'm not sure. I have added trace statements for debugging but no luck. I have included my Fla so you can see what I mean.

I'm currently working on a project using FLVPlayback Components. I'm having this issue: The user launches the page, the Component loads fine. They play the video and click the "FullScreen" button. The video launches nicely in fullscreen by using this code

When the user hits esc. or exits fullscreen, they come back to the movie and see that it has shrunk and moved over a few pixels. It doesnt move the entire SWF, just the component. I assume it has something to do with the "else" line. Let me know if you can be of some assistance. Linked please find my FLA and a link to the page where the issue occurs.

I wrote a class for an object that as soon as it is created moves around the screen and can create another object (replicating itself). That seems to work fine for a while, but after like 20 or so objects on the screen things slow down a lot! I create the first object on frame one. The rest is all done by the objects themselves.
Would it be better if the objects did not move around on their own, but rather through a loop on frame one or does it not matter? I am working on a simulation that should go up to over 100 objects, but with this problem can't get there. The object is just a movie clip (imported png picture about 4 by 7 pixel, not animated). I was going to replace it with an animated one later, but that seems unlikely now.

I've just learned the basics of programmatic animation in Actionscript 3.0 but I can't seem to think of the right solution for this problem.Here is what I'm trying to do: A ball moves at a certain speed from the left of the screen to the right end. If there's a box in the way, it keeps bumping into it until the box breaks and it continues moving forward.The box will have a set weight that will control how much it slides when it is bumped by the ball. The ball will be pushed back a bit when it bumps the box.I have a very specific idea and all I need is a little help starting. How would you tackle this problem?

So I have a small game where I have implemented a* path finding. I have a spot where a player moves around the screen along the path found. I have a section where i know the user is at the end of the path and I am looking to dispatch an event at this moment so I can do things at the end of the path.
i have imported the aStar_path_dispatcher file into the move class then i do,

then in my main document class i import the aStar_path_dispatcher again, and set up an instance of it: then add a listener:

however this "move finished" doesn't seem to want to work. I have never used custom events before

I've searched for almost a whole week to get this thing converted,I found a great tutorial for a scrollbar that was exactly what I was looking for. I wanted something that didn't have up or down buttons, had a thin line for the track, and a circular dragger. However, it was written in AS2. I've tried to convert it myself, but I'm a complete beginner, and I know nothing about AS3 code, or AS2 for that matter. So, I've managed to get the scroller icon to move, but it moves all over the screen & doesn't stay put

URL...Whenever a chat is added, I want it to completely show the last message. I'm using maxVerticalScrollPosition to set the scroll position on the list, but it is always wrong (see the example). It undershoots it by a row or so. I've tried this with a regular container and it does the same thing. If I do maxVerticalScrollPosition+1, it sort of works, but if the last message is particularly long, it will be cut off (only show the top). How can I get it to scroll to the actual bottom of the container??[code]

I am creating a container. When I press a button outside the container it adds a movieclip. The movieclip is the width of the container but only a fraction of the height.
I need to know how to get it so every time I press the button it adds the movieclip after the last one, almost like appending a list. Does anyone know how I would do this?Do I use an array or does flash have some sort of table feature?

To start things off, I use Flash CS3.moving menu that moves on its own when the mouse moves around it. Like the menu moves up when the mouse moves down.[URL]i have found similar tutorials for what i wanted.. but they are AS2 or older versions of flash..and what i needed is more along the lines of AS3 as that's what my class is learning and using.Does anyone know of an AS3 or anything that works with Flash CS3 tutorial thats what I'm asking?

I have 2 container MovieClips (mc1, mc2), each of them has a separate x,y, rotation. I want to take a child from mc1 and addChild() it to mc2 while keeping the same x, y, and rotation on the screen so you see the added child mc as if it didnt change position or rotation, just moved to the other MC.

I have implemented a pan and zoom function on my code.Whern I zoom in all components look perfectly rescaled, all shapes and lines.
However my text becomes pixelated and isn't redrawn. Is there a method to make it appear smooth and readable even when I zoom in or move the screen around from its original position?

I am editing an XML gallery and I have some questions..I wonder how I can position my images in the center of the screen. The images are all the same size (800x600) and I need them to display in the center of the screen.I played around with the code and I found out that when I change the Width and Height, the images starts to move (finally)... But it's very hard to find the correct position, so how can I just get it to the horizontal en vertical center of the screen/file?

I would like to know if there is any way that when mouse leaves screen, the mouse coord from the Main Movie Clip (mouseX and mouseY) keeps updating! Is there any way to get the mouse pos relative to the screen pos?For example when mouse leaves screen and goes 30 pixels up, its position would be (X,-30)

basically i would like to screen capture a part for the stage. but i got no idea how to do it as i am very new to flash programming.i am using the PNGencoder to do the process, but i cant actually screen capture the position i want. this is tje sniplet of the code for the process. It is taken from a tutorial with some changes, but it is still lacking of the position of the stage i want to screen capture.

I'm adding captioning/subtitles to my video (FLVPlaybackCaptioning) using dfxp.xml files. Everything works great when the video plays at it's initial resolution (640 x 360). The positioning of the captions is perfect. But I've included a Full Screen button and when the video goes full screen, the captions appear but their position is off. They are higher on the screen and they actually move upward 1 or 2 lines after they initially appear. I cannot seem to control this and am not sure why it only happens in full screen mode. In the component inspector I have set autoLayout to true and to false and it does not effect the captions one way or another. I cannot seem to find any support for this.
