ActionScript 2.0 :: Container - AddChild To Set Position - Array?

May 20, 2009

I am creating a container. When I press a button outside the container it adds a movieclip. The movieclip is the width of the container but only a fraction of the height.
I need to know how to get it so every time I press the button it adds the movieclip after the last one, almost like appending a list. Does anyone know how I would do this?Do I use an array or does flash have some sort of table feature?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Check Container And AddChild If Empty

Apr 7, 2011

I have a button on stage which has a child menu movieclip and that movieclip has three submenu button children.On each of these 3rd level buttons an event listener draws a new container on the stage and adds a new movieClip holding various info.This all works nicely, but I cannot work out a way to get an eventListener on the menu buttons to check if the container already exists so I can then stop the button repeating the add container function. So, at the moment you can repeatedly hit any of these menu buttons and they will just continue to add info movieClip children.I've tried some nice Boolean commands that should work, but I think it's the nesting of the children/relationships that are not allowing me to get this to work.So, basically for arguments sake, let's say I only have one of each item... here's the nesting of children:[code]

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash DisplayObject Container Matching All Elements With AddChild() On Criteria?

Mar 1, 2012

I'm coding this minigame implementation where a sprite traverses tiles on a screen, and when he's done traversing a tile, the tile "disappears" (its alpha decreases and it becomes a "wall" the player can not move onto). Now, simple enough. Make use of a traversing and traversed boolean arrays to store if a tile is currently being traversed, or if it isn't, but it has been traversed. So, if traversing == 0 and traversed == 1, make the tile "disappear". However, and here's the weird part, if I just set the alpha to, say, 0.5 in this if statement, it sets the alpha on just the tile I traversed, whereas if I try to make it part of the wall as well (in the same if), every tile except the one I've traversed to becomes a wall.

Here's part of the code (it happens in the enterFrame game loop):

Code:
const NUM_TILES = 15;
//Add MC for all the tiles
var tiles = new MovieClip();
addChildAt(tiles,5);

Actionscript 3.0 :: AddChild And Cascade Position?

I have a customized colorpicker that will be added to the stage dynamically depending on what movieclip is in a particular frame - so to ease coding, I've created a class with all my customizations and wish to add a label, dynamically, to each colorpicker. However, here is the issue, I can't seem to add the label to the stage because the colorpicker keeps reporting it's positions as x = 0 and y = 0.to add the label to the stage in a relative manner fails.

Code: Select all
myPicker = new ColorPicker();
myPicker.x = 30;

Flex :: Get Container To Scroll To Last Position?

Aug 12, 2009

URL...Whenever a chat is added, I want it to completely show the last message. I'm using maxVerticalScrollPosition to set the scroll position on the list, but it is always wrong (see the example). It undershoots it by a row or so. I've tried this with a regular container and it does the same thing. If I do maxVerticalScrollPosition+1, it sort of works, but if the last message is particularly long, it will be cut off (only show the top). How can I get it to scroll to the actual bottom of the container??[code]

ActionScript 3.0 :: Keep Mc In Same Position On Screen If Its Container Mc Moves?

Apr 21, 2009

I have a large movieclip that contains all the elements of my game - the level backgrounds, the player character, the non-player characters etc. The stage is only a quarter of its width and when the player character moves off the edge of the stage the whole game movieclip moves a quarter width to the left or right, depending on which side the player character has left the stage from.

Each of the quarters of this large game movieclip are considered levels of the game (so there are four levels, obviously) and what I want to know is how do i get an object that exists in one level to appear in exactly the same position on screen in the next level, when the player moves to that level?

ActionScript 3.0 :: AddChild To Array Generated Menu?

Mar 26, 2009

I'm familiar with AS2 and just getting started with AS3. I found a submenu fla I would like to use, and I have everything set up, just not sure how to attach movies from the library when someone clicks a navigation button.In AS2 I would have made an empty mc and used attachMovie when the button is released.I've looked at some of the addChild questions and tutorials here, but since I'm working with pre-written code for a submenu, I'm not sure about how to modify what I've read to work in that code.Here's the code that sets up the submenu, the last function (navigate) is where I'm not sure how to instruct flash to load an mc when one of the buttons (from the var subButton:Array) is clicked. The MCs in the library correspond to the array entries ie: s.home has a library item mcHome, s.web has library item mcWeb that would load when they click that button. var s = this.services.subBar //create a variable to shorten the path to the buttons in the sub barvar subButtons:Array = new Array(s.home, s.it, s.web, s.graphic, s.contact); // create an array with all the buttons in the sub bar

for (var i:int = 0; i< subButtons.length; i++) // create a for loop to add the CLICK event listener to all the buttons in the sub bar at once

ActionScript 3.0 :: Array Of Custom Class - How To AddChild

Aug 18, 2010

I have an array of a custom class. The class includes 3 movieclips that all share the same position. I have 5 items in the array, and in the document constructor I fill them as such:

ActionScript Code:
glassArray[0] = new glasses(spot, beam1, glasses2, "index/nav/aboutus", new Point(156, 400));(different string and point for each of the 5 items)

Here's the glasses constructor:
ActionScript Code:
public class glasses extends MovieClip{ //I am the Constructor.
public var spot:MovieClip;
public var beam:MovieClip;
public var glass:MovieClip;
protected var target:String;
[Code] .....

It then goes on to fill each of those mclips with properties based on the point received. How to addchild from the class, I've got a simple for loop in the document constructor that adds them all in. Everything works, except what I'm seeing is that as each item in the array is added in, it overwrites the previous items' properties. In effect, I can create 5 items and give them each a different position, but when I go to addChild I see that all of them have taken on the position of the 5th one.!

ActionScript 3.0 :: Use AddChild With An Array To Create A Grid Of Movieclips?

Mar 15, 2011

I want to create a grid of movieclips using an array. But every movieclip added needs some sort of unique idenifier so i can access each individual movieclip.

The grid is 6 movieclips on the Y and variable on the X(that doesnt really matter to be honest)

I have managed to create an Array that displays 6 movieclips on the Y using this [code]...

now i tried creating another class and storing the 6 tickets i made in this class in another movieclip and then using the same method in the other class (i called it Ticket_Batch) i created another row of 6 movieclips. although this kind of worked visually i could no longer access each individual ticket.

my question is: how do i create a 6 x 36(or any other multiple of 6) grid of my movieclips in the same class using an array (or 2 arrays) and giving each movieclip an instance name that i can access and use?
