ActionScript 3.0 :: Link Some Text To An External Web Site?
Aug 20, 2009
I am trying to link some text to an external web site. I am using the following code, but whenever I try to launch the external web site, I get prompted by Adobe Flash Player Security saying that it has stopped a potentially unsafe operation. It then tells me that I need to change my security settings in order to view the website. I am wondering if there is any way around stopping the security check, or is this built into Flash?
Code:
var linkLaunch:URLRequest = new URLRequest('content/web/fuel/project/home.html');
navigateToURL(linkLaunch);
In my movie I now load external text. But I want words in the external text to trigger my swf's. How do I do it? Since working on a mac I use BBEdit. Should I use html?
I've followed the tutorial on importing data from an external text file into flash but I need to make the email address active.As per the tutorial the actionscript in the flash file is:
loadText = new LoadVars(); loadText.load("data2.txt"); loadText.onLoad = function() {

I followed the tutorial [URL] and it works perfect. But I wanna go a step further, how do I link a word in the external text file? It seems that html code <a href="www.me.com">CLICK</a> doesn't show as a link, but exactly as text.

Is it possible to link to a spacific "page" within a flash site much like you can do with a html web site? I want to be able to link to a spacific swf page within my site without going through the entire site to get to the "page" how do I do this using actionscript 2.0
I am making a flash site and am trying to have a link which redirects to another site. The problem is the redirect address has an e with the accent ' above it. When I copy the link directly into flash, it converts it to code in the URL bar.How do I make the link in flash so that it keeps it as an accented letter in the URL bar?
I've gotten a complaint from one operator that my banner won't open in a new tab. Indeed on their site it opens the link on self. Its fine on other sites tho.Btw I noticed all the banners on their site open in self. Including an old banner I did for them with the same [code]...
I have a very general requirement that seemed very simple: Step 1: Load a new external JPEG image into a MC with a string var encoding a string caption in the URL link (VALUE="../fadeTest.swf?someTextVar=TestCaption") within the EMBED / OBJECT sections. I know how to do this and it semed to work fine. STEP2: When the JPEG is loaded I would like the substituted Text to Fade In over the JPEG. The JPEG should also fade in before the Text. The fade rate should be programmable.
I was wondering how can I make my links in Flash readable for browsers? In other words, to be able to provide link to specific section of my website. For illustration, take a look at Jenson Button's website:The link above points to the "News" section, although the site is in flash.
Why creating a text link to a .as hosted on my site creates a 404 error? If I change it to .txt it works fine but I'd really like the user to be able to open the file directly into Flash.
I created a Flash CS4 document which contains 2 buttons. I used the code below to link the two buttons to well known web sites, tested them in Flash and the buttons work fine.

On one of my pages i have a bunch of thumbnails that i want to be able to scroll through and click on and have it open another browser window to an html page I have created.I have placed all the button individually in a motion clip, so I can fade them onto the page when I go to it, and I then have selected all the buttons and changed them to motion clips so I can scroll them.
I created an action file and placed it in its own layer in the first motion clip that all the buttons are on.I am getting access of undefined property errors on all the buttons when I debug.Below is what I have written, I hope someone can tell me what I am doing wrong. I am new to this.

I'm trying to make a link from one flash site to another, but not just to the home page of it, but to a specific part of it. For example, I run and am wanting to make the direct links from the websites of the seven artists involved (mostly flash sites) to their specific page on thesite... does that make sense?
I've re done a couple of pages on my website and as a result of the new design have had to change some of the coding from being on the timeline to being in an external as document linked to my fla. This is significant only because I can link to external pdf.zips no problem on the timeline but I can't seem to translate the code to the external file. Can anyone out there help me out with this (hopefully) simply problem?I'm playing with different variations of this below but I'm constantly getting the 1180: Call to a possibly undefined method navigateToURL.
function onEnglishClick(event:MouseEvent):void { var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://www.bigredcreativeconcepts.com/UB_Flyer_English.pdf.zip");
I've managed to piece together a flash website with my limited as3 knowledge. The text is loaded from external text files and styled with an external css file.
It's working perfectly in Firefox and Explorer but it only works SOME of the time in Safari (on my mac).It's hit and miss. Sometimes it styles the text sometimes it doesn't.
I am at the start of creating a large site with many different components: Basic text areas Latest projects with images / video Blog with text, images and video Secure login area to view protected projects
What would you recommend for this type of project. Throw all assets (main text area, blog, latest project etc) and separate them into their own mc's, then call them onto the stage? Or have them all external sepearate swf's?

Okay so I am building a website in Flash for the first time and I am having some trouble with the code. I have a twitter icon that has an instance name of twitter_home and I need it to link to a twitter page [URL]... The code I pasted below opens up firefox, but does not go to any page. If firefox is already open on my computer...it does nothing.
I have a fla file which is loading external swf files from my local folders.I inserted some of the swf files to a web site and tried to load them from the site, not from my local folder...So it gave me a security error like below:
*** Gvenlik Sanal Alan °hlali ***security domain-area violation http://www.celiktek.com.tr/KIRIL.swf' SecurityDomain esi -- security domain element, 'file:///C|/Users/Acer/AppData/Local/Temp/Untitled%2D1.swf' uyumsuz baÄlamına erieye
I am using a TextArea in flash and setting its htmlText property to contain the following link:txtMyTextArea.htmlText = "some dynamic text here that ends in you can check this out <a hrefIt works fine when I test it in flash (CTRL + Enter), although when I open the generated HTML I get the following error dialog:How can I make the link work without receiving the security dialog?
I need to have 4 external links going into my my flash site, seperat frames. It kind of works when using anchors in my "main.swf", and not load the "main.swf" using the loader component, but then all by itself the "main.swf" starts to jump between the 4 different anchors. When I load the "main.swf" using the loader component, nothing happens, and I feel I need to have the loader component aswell. I have tried to put the anchors in seperat frames in the "main.swf" aswll as in the "loader.swf".
This is how my site is build:
index.htm (with the html anchor codes needed) with the loader component "myLoader" in the index.htm loading the "main.swf".
I am running an swf on my localhost and it loads another swf from an external site. It gives me the following error:Connection to [external site] halted - not permitted from [localhost]localfile.swf.I have included the localhost directory in my Global Security Settings, as well as the local file. swf, so it should be trusted and allow the external link.
