ActionScript 2.0 :: Link Text In External Text?
Aug 30, 2003In my movie I now load external text. But I want words in the external text to trigger my swf's. How do I do it? Since working on a mac I use BBEdit. Should I use html?

I am using the following code, but whenever I try to launch the external web site, I get prompted by Adobe Flash Player Security saying that it has stopped a potentially unsafe operation. It then tells me that I need to change my security settings in order to view the website. I am wondering if there is any way around stopping the security check, or is this built into Flash?

Mar 23, 2004I followed the tutorial [URL] and it works perfect. But I wanna go a step further, how do I link a word in the external text file? It seems that html code <a href="www.me.com">CLICK</a> doesn't show as a link, but exactly as text.

[URL] I see where the text is under Actions but I'm wondering if I can input hyperlinks and email links as well or will I only be able to use this with plain text. I would like to be able to make a piece of text a link (ex. click here for prices) so that it will direct the view to another page (label). I cannot figure out how to do so.

Jun 7, 2009I've managed to piece together a flash website with my limited as3 knowledge. The text is loaded from external text files and styled with an external css file.
It's working perfectly in Firefox and Explorer but it only works SOME of the time in Safari (on my mac).It's hit and miss. Sometimes it styles the text sometimes it doesn't.

Professional :: Text Disappears At Runtime When URL Link Used In Text
Jun 2, 2010I'm having a little trouble using URL links in text. If I select a part of the text and give it a URL link (I'm using mailto: links here), strange things are happening to all the text in that text box at runtime in some cases the leading changes, other times some or all of the text disappears. But it only happens at runtime, so I have no way of knowing if or how to compensate. And simply removing the offending link or linked text doesn't fix the problem once the link has been created the only way to fix it is to create a new text box with no links.

Jun 6, 2003I have a very general requirement that seemed very simple: Step 1: Load a new external JPEG image into a MC with a string var encoding a string caption in the URL link (VALUE="../fadeTest.swf?someTextVar=TestCaption") within the EMBED / OBJECT sections. I know how to do this and it semed to work fine. STEP2: When the JPEG is loaded I would like the substituted Text to Fade In over the JPEG. The JPEG should also fade in before the Text. The fade rate should be programmable.

Jul 22, 2005I'm teaching myself ActionScript and the book I'm reading just got into input text capabilities. The book shows me how to link input text to a variable and output that text to the output window using trace. My question is: how can I display the text that the user input onto the actual movie. For example... if I wanted the visitor to type their name into the input text box and click Submit and then a phrase shows up with their name such as "Hold on Name, my site will be done soon." How do I reference that variable and have it actually display in my movie?

Nov 29, 2009I have a class that loads data from a text file and puts it into an array called tdv.importedTxtArray (public var).In a separate class i have written [code]The infoArray does not then contain the imported text however because tdv.importedTxtArray is not given its popper contents until about 1/2 a second after the tdvLoader class executes (i.e: when Event.COMPLETE is run and the array is populated with strings from the external text file). Subsequently in the code above infoArray is set to a blank array.How can i get the code in my separate class to ''wait' until tdv.importedTxtArray is properly populated before accessing it.

Jul 14, 2010in my projects i often use some xml files to load external text that i can format in css and it worked fine till now..i have a site that i am prograaming in italian and german and in both languages there is much text that contains special characters as "à " "ò" "è" "ù" "ä" "ü" and so on .. the problem is that when i write some text with this special characters in xml when the text is loaded in the flash this special characters are not recognised and instead of them a small square is displayed ..
i tryed to load the text from a html file instead of a xml file (because in HTML i know how to write theese special characters and let them display right in my html pages .. for example à = à but no way .. the flash now loades the text à instead of à ..

Nov 17, 2003hi, i'm trying to display text from a textfile in a dynamic textfield, i have a text file called "quotes.txt" wich has variables set like this:
q0=text&q1=text2&q3=text3 etc.
so how can i pick these q's at random and place it in my textbox?i've tried this:

i thought i could replace the direct reference to q0 or q1 etc into a variable "qoutes", so how can i do this so it does work?
