I'm creating website that I want to put my resume and portfolio on as different Flash applications. For my resume it would be like a mini-web site that has various linking buttons to different pages. I tried to use scenes b/c I had a professor who told us to use scenes to create our pages/animations, and the scenes concept did not work with the actionscripting.
I then read online that scenes were not the way to go. So I'm trying to use Frame Labels to create this - right now I made a menu movie clip that I have my actionscript in for each button - the buttons have the correct instance names and I have my frames properly labeled with their movie clips attached to each for each part of the resume/page portion.
This is the code I'm using in the Menu movie clip. The problem I'm having is that when I click on each button - nothing happens! I tried this one, and nothing happened:

I'm having trouble linking buttons from a swf banner that will be on all html pages. I'm using the following script, which doesn't work yet.For now, I have only two buttons. Button btn_1 should go to page_1.html, which is in a folder labeled pages.I've tried the variable name and the navigate to URL and neither have worked.

I have created a flash website in cs4 using AS2. I have 2 layers in my time line, content and AS. I created scenes along the time line and labeled each scene "about" "contact" etc.Each scene is 10 frames long and has the stop action applied to it. The gotoAndPlay command is applied to each button within the scene and I have used the folowing action on the buttons to link the pages:on (release) {gotoAndPlay("scenename");}This does link the pages however if i hit any of the buttons twice, it directs me to the wrong page. For example if I hit the home button twice, it will direct me to the about page. Should I be targeting a frame within the scene also?

I am fairly new to flash and I have started to attempt to modify a template that I found online to make it my own. The thing that I am having problems with is the URL Links. There are 5 different clickable tabs on the header that I have, and when you edit it in flash cs4, each one is the same image when you edit it. The only way in which you can change what each one of them says is by editing them in the library. This isn't the problem. I want to link these tabs to different pages on my website. When I edit one of them, all of them change to the same url link. The file is too large for me to upload I think.

I'm trying to figure out how to have different sections of my flash site be linked to with different URLs. A good example of what I mean would be this site here: [URL] I'm not the biggest fan of the design but the functionality is great. It animates seamlessly between pages and each page has a separate URL. Is there an easy way to explain how this is accomplished?

The thing is that this menu is only supposed to be seen as it is on the home page (it changes to a different location, and has a different look on the internal pages). View 3 RepliesI am attempting to make a flash website, and have 5 buttons on my menu. I made 5 pages in a movieclip called "content". I want to know how I can link those buttons to go to those pages (actionscript and where to put it).
I have seen flash website templates, and see only ONE button, but when I looked at it in an .swf, it shows all buttons with their specific text label.
I'm just picking up flash and I am trying to make a new menu of buttons in the template and I will be changing the menu that is already there, but it isn't using conventional menu coding. This is the piece of code I am trying to use for my button to lead to a different movie clip to a different frame than the one the buttons are sitting in, a separate movie clip.

Of course there are more buttons, this is just one. Customhomes is the frame label, customhms_btn is the instance name. It tells me that customhms_btn is not defined. I have this code sitting in the movie clip that the buttons are in by itself in the first layer.
I designed a flash banner with buttons. I am trying to get those buttons linked to other pages in my website. I have tried several methods but none appear to work. The first thing I tried to was to assign the buttons to my other webpages through using the behaviours under the windows tab in Flash CS4. It worked when using the publish preview option (preview in flash) and choosing Flash, but when I went to add the banner to my webpage through Dreamweaver, the buttons would not work. I tried another method and used actionscript 3.0. I kept getting errors.

I am building a basic database website for my local community and everything is going fine until i try to add more script to control buttons on pages from the menu. The menu has 7 buttons which work, then on each of those pages is 6 more buttons. The first page works fine but when i add the code to the next page to control its buttons i get access of undefined prop. error and keeps playing through whole timeline. This was created with frames in dreamweaver and the nav bar and index page movie are swf files. When you click on the pages in the nav bar it redirects to the index page. It does this the majority of the time and every now and again when you click it will go to the actual page.The way it is set up in dreamweaver, it has the nav movie in the top frame and the content in the bottom. All I did was change the old i.p address to the domain name because our host changed. I did nothing else and then this started not working correctly.I have checked and double checked all links in flash and they work from the swf but when it is loaded in the browser it does that weird linking to the index again. Is there a way to link a button to a .SWF file and if not is there a way to import an .fla file into a new scene of a different .fla file and then link the button to that scene? I am kind of a beginner to actionscript but I know some basics and am willing to learn.
View 1 RepliesI'm having trouble figuring how to get the buttons to reference the correct imageBox and position the imageHolder. The imageHolder is a movieclip on the main stage and inside of that are a series of imageBoxes attached for each image. You can click on each image and the imageHolder will move and the images will enable and disable. If you click on a button the current image will fade but then return to 100% alpha. It's not completing the disableImages function.

I get this in my output when I click on my pre-loader button, which works great and sends me to the home page... but when I get there the code I wrote for my portfolio page to click on portfolio and have it take me to the portfolio page isn't working.... I have continued to find a resolution and have had no luck. My website has 5 flash buttons (tabs) to take you to a new html page. Each time you go to a page the button seems to have to re-load creating a "white blinking" inside the cell. The background of the fla file is black and I have the table cell background set to black hoping thatbut to no avail. I thought once a swf is loaded it won't have to re-load. The swf files are the same on all pages

When I test the movie I see the hand icon so I know it's an invisible button, but when I click on it, it goes out of the flash play like it wants to go to a browser, but nothing happens. When I upload the files I can see the hand icon again, but nothing happens when I click on the link. I tried the changing the .html file that it is housed in to an .htm file, but that didn't work either.
I am new to this. I have followed several tutorials with noluck. I am using action code 3. I want to link an invisible buttonto an url.
