I am attempting to make a flash website, and have 5 buttons on my menu. I made 5 pages in a movieclip called "content". I want to know how I can link those buttons to go to those pages (actionscript and where to put it).
I have seen flash website templates, and see only ONE button, but when I looked at it in an .swf, it shows all buttons with their specific text label.
I've been trying to find a solution to this for a while, but I haven't had any luck.I'm making a menu system that uses sliding movie clips instead of separate pagesbut when you click on the 'study at UWS' button, the nested slider kind of goes nuts, until you press on of the side buttons.

I am building a basic database website for my local community and everything is going fine until i try to add more script to control buttons on pages from the menu. The menu has 7 buttons which work, then on each of those pages is 6 more buttons. The first page works fine but when i add the code to the next page to control its buttons i get access of undefined prop. error and keeps playing through whole timeline. This is the code im using to control the buttons on pages from the menu.

View 5 Replies I am attempting to revamp a website. The buttons that are currently being used are only gifs that are hyperlinked and there are almost 12 buttons... I think that this is a ridiculous amount of buttons to have. It looks very cluttered. So, I figured I should make 6 buttons and just fit the rest of the buttons into subcategorized buttons. And the way to do this is to create flash buttons with drop down menus. To see what I mean, go to this link and look at their buttons:

Their buttons drop down into menus with sub-categories. I want to do this.
So far, I have gone into flash, created buttons and made graphics for the "Up" "Over" "Down" and "Hit". I have also added the menu buttons and graphics for the "Over" of each drop-down button-menu.
I have even provided the action script to link each button to where I need it to go.
HOWEVER, here is where the problem is. When I roll the mouse over the button, and then move the mouse down to click on one of the buttons in the drop down menu, the menu disappears, OF COURSE, because the mouse goes off the hit. I can't make the hit bigger, because the menu shouldn't open unless it's on the main button. But without the hit being bigger, the menu will always disappear.
IN ADDITION, I've never used flash buttons on a website before. I'm just using HTML. How do I link the button to the page? Do I save the file as a .swf flash file? And link to 6 different files? Or do I save the buttons in a line, and just use one link?
im having trouble making the buttons within my drop down menu active.basically, on the main timeline, i have a movieclip, and within it have a button that once u roll over it, will go to another instance in that timeline to display a drop down menu located below it (with buttons). these buttons do not perform any actions to the main timeline regardless where i place the actionscript or how i point to those buttons.

I had a flash template with nav button menu and sub button menu, in flash player the menu and sub menu works for different pages, but sub menu do not work in web page, whatever page goes, it always load sub menu for home.

I created a Menu with for Loops/addChild and TweenLite. But I have no clue how to tell flash to what page im going when I press one of the buttons.Because the specifications of the page can only be mentioned AFTER the onComplete function, because the content needs to be added AFTER the animation is finished.
View 14 RepliesI have a feeling this would be easy or has already been accomplished with someone who's good at AS3... I was customizing "xml magic pages" which I found online, and doing pretty well with my limited knowledge. BUT I need to have "previous" and "next" buttons, so users won't have to click each button (one section has 14 pages).
I learned how to name the dynamic buttons, but I still can't use that info to show that page (or ultimately the next or previous page). Magic pages is free and easily found online, but I could post the code here (or my code).
For some reason I can't seem to link a menu on a homepage with the internal pages of the website i'm working on. The thing is that this menu is only supposed to be seen as it is on the home page (it changes to a different location, and has a different look on the internal pages). Problem is I can't seem to get the button to link to the corresponding page.

I have laid out the four pages that I wish and have created a button for each page on each page.I was told a simple stop script would stop the pages acting like a movie.I entered:

View 1 RepliesI'm just picking up flash and I am trying to make a new menu of buttons in the template and I will be changing the menu that is already there, but it isn't using conventional menu coding. This is the piece of code I am trying to use for my button to lead to a different movie clip to a different frame than the one the buttons are sitting in, a separate movie clip.

Of course there are more buttons, this is just one. Customhomes is the frame label, customhms_btn is the instance name. It tells me that customhms_btn is not defined. I have this code sitting in the movie clip that the buttons are in by itself in the first layer.
I designed a flash banner with buttons. I am trying to get those buttons linked to other pages in my website. I have tried several methods but none appear to work. The first thing I tried to was to assign the buttons to my other webpages through using the behaviours under the windows tab in Flash CS4. It worked when using the publish preview option (preview in flash) and choosing Flash, but when I went to add the banner to my webpage through Dreamweaver, the buttons would not work. I tried another method and used actionscript 3.0. I kept getting errors.

I am building a basic website and am trying to set up my buttons to link to my different pages. But some of them are not working and I have no idea why. I'm creating website that I want to put my resume and portfolio on as different Flash applications. For my resume it would be like a mini-web site that has various linking buttons to different pages. I tried to use scenes b/c I had a professor who told us to use scenes to create our pages/animations, and the scenes concept did not work with the actionscripting.
I then read online that scenes were not the way to go. So I'm trying to use Frame Labels to create this - right now I made a menu movie clip that I have my actionscript in for each button - the buttons have the correct instance names and I have my frames properly labeled with their movie clips attached to each for each part of the resume/page portion.
This is the code I'm using in the Menu movie clip. The problem I'm having is that when I click on each button - nothing happens! I tried this one, and nothing happened:

I need a tutorial for a hierarchical drop down menu system that drops down 3 sub levels. Do I make the items in the sub menus individual buttons and then insert them into a movie clip or make every sub menu item a movie clip and insert them into buttons?

I am opening different swf's and I want to make sure that the buttons are still showing. I know there is something with changing or swapping the depth of the movie clip when it loads the new swf's in, but I have not found anything that is seeming to work.

I have continued to find a resolution and have had no luck. My website has 5 flash buttons (tabs) to take you to a new html page. Each time you go to a page the button seems to have to re-load creating a "white blinking" inside the cell. The background of the fla file is black and I have the table cell background set to black hoping thatbut to no avail. I thought once a swf is loaded it won't have to re-load. The swf files are the same on all pages

I'm having trouble linking buttons from a swf banner that will be on all html pages. I'm using the following script, which doesn't work yet.For now, I have only two buttons. Button btn_1 should go to page_1.html, which is in a folder labeled pages.I've tried the variable name and the navigate to URL and neither have worked.

I have created a basic flash navigation menu bar for my website. I have added the bar into a frame on my dreamweaver page. I was just wondering if it was possible to link the buttons on my flash bar to open the pages into the main frame below my navigation bar? The code I have at the moment for my "home" button is the following:

i have made all my buttons by movie clips and all the different pages movie clips, but i have movie clip buttons, inside those movie clip pages, and cannot figure out how to make these movie buttons inside the movie clip work when that specific page is loaded, the"links" inside that movie clip page, how do i make that link to go to the next page.
