ActionScript 3.0 :: AddChild Menu + Content - How To Tell Pages Apart
Mar 22, 2011
I created a Menu with for Loops/addChild and TweenLite. But I have no clue how to tell flash to what page im going when I press one of the buttons.Because the specifications of the page can only be mentioned AFTER the onComplete function, because the content needs to be added AFTER the animation is finished.
I am a designer working in a flash file on the navigation part. The web site (is not yet posted) works fine but I need to change the contents when the menu is clicked (contact us, etc. ..). I need to find where the information is so I can change the address, phone number, info. but I have looked everywhere and cannot find it. Where could it be hiding?
I have a main "shell" swf which, by clicking several buttons, will load/unload various external swfs into a Placeholder_mc which resides on the main timeline in Shell.swf In the documentation and tutorials I've seen a couple different methods, and I'm not sure I quite understand the difference, or at least the reason you would use one over the other...In the 1st method, you can just add the Loader object using the addChild() method:
Code:
var myLoader:Loader = new Loader(); var myURLRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("ExternalFileA.swf"); myLoader.load(myURLRequest); Placeholder_mc.addChild(myLoader);
This will apparently add myLoader to the display list once it has completely loaded.The 2nd method, you supposedly can add the Loader.content; however, it appears you can only do this once the content has completed loading, so you need to incorporate an event handler with the contentLoaderInfo object:
Code:
var myLoader:Loader = new Loader(); var myURLRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("ExternalFileA.swf"); myLoader.load(myURLRequest);
[code]....
What are the pros/cons of adding the entire Loader object, as opposed to the Loader.content and vice versa?
I'm using Adobe CS4 Professional flash to create the basis of the website, a photo background with an interactive menu overlay on top. Does anyone know any good tutorials for an interactive menu (roll you mouse over certain things and the sub-menu comes up which lead to other pages of the site etc.)
I have XML pages with some defined structure , now using flex I want to display the content of these pages. The purpose of using Flex is to give better look. If I can use something else which will provide a good UI to display then also its fine.
I am using a flash banner to control the navigation between about 6 different pages. However, I would like the banner to stay the same while the different pages load around it. The banner is in the same place and has a short animation before displaying the nav controls. After clicking a link, the swf starts over again when the new page loads. Is there any way to embed the swf so that it stays constant (both on the webpage and on its own timeline) while the different html content loads beneath it? There are a few examples of this that I have found but I cannot figure out how to do it, for example [URL].
I would like to have some dynamic content on the pages... I want to use it for a website. The problem is, when you click anywhere on the page, it reacts. I tried putting an MC over it to override it, I tried removing the Mouse listener temporarily... I'm not too advanced with AS, but I thought I'd give it a try... Well I just can't figure it out.
Is there any way that I could make it so that when the mouse is in a certain area and is clicked, the pages do not react like they should? With the dynamic content I'm going to need scrollbars and stuff and that just isn't going to work unless I can do this.
I am making a full flash site in which one container clip on the main timeline loads all the pages. I want to place a tween on this container so that once the content loads it animates as it enters. Code below.
I need to create a static frame and a changing content... currently envisaged as frame containing the side panel and header and footer content.
The content panel will call mxml based on the content sought.
a) how is the frame paradigm- with static frame "containing" other content done. I dont want to repeat the header and footer logic in every 'content section' code?
b) how is the hyperlinking between content sections done- using 'states' seems convoluted
I had a flash template with nav button menu and sub button menu, in flash player the menu and sub menu works for different pages, but sub menu do not work in web page, whatever page goes, it always load sub menu for home.
I am attempting to make a flash website, and have 5 buttons on my menu. I made 5 pages in a movieclip called "content". I want to know how I can link those buttons to go to those pages (actionscript and where to put it).
I have seen flash website templates, and see only ONE button, but when I looked at it in an .swf, it shows all buttons with their specific text label.
I am building a basic database website for my local community and everything is going fine until i try to add more script to control buttons on pages from the menu. The menu has 7 buttons which work, then on each of those pages is 6 more buttons. The first page works fine but when i add the code to the next page to control its buttons i get access of undefined prop. error and keeps playing through whole timeline. This is the code im using to control the buttons on pages from the menu.
I have a feeling this would be easy or has already been accomplished with someone who's good at AS3... I was customizing "xml magic pages" which I found online, and doing pretty well with my limited knowledge. BUT I need to have "previous" and "next" buttons, so users won't have to click each button (one section has 14 pages).
I learned how to name the dynamic buttons, but I still can't use that info to show that page (or ultimately the next or previous page). Magic pages is free and easily found online, but I could post the code here (or my code).
I'm dynamically loading JPG file using Loader class. Everything works except if I want to tile the image few more times using addChild(loader.content) it just doesn't work. It always removes previous instance and leaves only the last one. I've tried everything but with no luck. Here's my code:
var loaderContext:LoaderContext = new LoaderContext(true); var imageLoader:Loader = new Loader(); imageLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, imageLoaderDone);
For some reason I can't seem to link a menu on a homepage with the internal pages of the website i'm working on. The thing is that this menu is only supposed to be seen as it is on the home page (it changes to a different location, and has a different look on the internal pages). Problem is I can't seem to get the button to link to the corresponding page.
I have inserted a flash menu into the html pages in my website. I am using the same swf file and ebedding a variable name in each page eg. "menu.swf?x=about". I then use a conditional statement in the actionscript to determine which page i am on eg
else if (x == "about") { mc_menu.about._alpha = 50;
I'm making a menu system that uses sliding movie clips instead of separate pages - [URL]. But when you click on the 'study at UWS' button, the nested slider kind of goes nuts, until you press on of the side buttons.
I'm familiar with AS2 and just getting started with AS3. I found a submenu fla I would like to use, and I have everything set up, just not sure how to attach movies from the library when someone clicks a navigation button.In AS2 I would have made an empty mc and used attachMovie when the button is released.I've looked at some of the addChild questions and tutorials here, but since I'm working with pre-written code for a submenu, I'm not sure about how to modify what I've read to work in that code.Here's the code that sets up the submenu, the last function (navigate) is where I'm not sure how to instruct flash to load an mc when one of the buttons (from the var subButton:Array) is clicked. The MCs in the library correspond to the array entries ie: s.home has a library item mcHome, s.web has library item mcWeb that would load when they click that button. var s = this.services.subBar //create a variable to shorten the path to the buttons in the sub barvar subButtons:Array = new Array(s.home, s.it, s.web, s.graphic, s.contact); // create an array with all the buttons in the sub bar
for (var i:int = 0; i< subButtons.length; i++) // create a for loop to add the CLICK event listener to all the buttons in the sub bar at once {
I've been trying to find a solution to this for a while, but I haven't had any luck.I'm making a menu system that uses sliding movie clips instead of separate pagesbut when you click on the 'study at UWS' button, the nested slider kind of goes nuts, until you press on of the side buttons.
I am trying to change the position of a movie clip which is acting as a menu and loading other swfs onto the stage. The problem is, is that the movie clip is also animated and when an swf is loaded the movie clip appears underneath the loaded swf. What method I should use to change the hierarchy of this movieclip.
I will go to URL... but when the pages load the content will be read from ABC's server not XYZ's server.The users will use the data on XYZ's website not realizing that the content is actually coming from another site.
I've recently used the 'Static HTML' application to add autoplaying flash content to a Facebook Page.Nothing too fancy, no sound, and only a few secs long. Now, Facebook say:-"Apps on Pages must not host media that plays automatically without a user's interaction."
What do they mean by 'Media' exactly? I can understand a ban on autoplaying audio content but does the ban extend to something as harmless as an animated GIF? Or more to the point, does an autoplaying .swf file fall under this?
Lastly, what course of action would Facebook take if I did violate this rule? Would they issue a warning (giving me an opportunity to remove the 'offending' item) or would they just shut down my page without any consultation?
Looking for a tutorial to make individual pages (jpg or gif) into swf pages so we can add links in an on-line flip book. I have flash, but have not learned as of yet.
I would like to know how to track my pages with google analytics to see which pages are getting the most clicks. My site is XML / Flash the menu is xml. Could I put the tracking code on each of the menu items in the xml file?
I am a designer working in a flash file on the navigation part. The web site (is not yet posted) works fine but I need to change the contents when the menu is clicked (contact us, etc. ..). I need to find where the information is so I can change the address info. but I have looked everywhere. I did not create the file so I am stuck. Is anyone able to help? Is there anything in the file I can post that would help solve this?
i'm learning flash and I've stuck on a problem. I have web page in php and i wan't only flash menu. The problem is that when i make geturl in actionscript the new page open, but i wan't that only content refresh.URL...
How do I write a function for a next button - to use with the following script:Once you have selected an item from the drop down I want to navigate next/back with seperate buttons to avoid having to use the drop down menu each time.
