Flash :: Duplicate Loader's Content Multiple Times Via AddChild()?
Aug 18, 2011
I'm dynamically loading JPG file using Loader class. Everything works except if I want to tile the image few more times using addChild(loader.content) it just doesn't work. It always removes previous instance and leaves only the last one. I've tried everything but with no luck. Here's my code:
var loaderContext:LoaderContext = new LoaderContext(true);
var imageLoader:Loader = new Loader();
imageLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, imageLoaderDone);
I have a main "shell" swf which, by clicking several buttons, will load/unload various external swfs into a Placeholder_mc which resides on the main timeline in Shell.swf In the documentation and tutorials I've seen a couple different methods, and I'm not sure I quite understand the difference, or at least the reason you would use one over the other...In the 1st method, you can just add the Loader object using the addChild() method:
Code:
var myLoader:Loader = new Loader(); var myURLRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("ExternalFileA.swf"); myLoader.load(myURLRequest); Placeholder_mc.addChild(myLoader);
This will apparently add myLoader to the display list once it has completely loaded.The 2nd method, you supposedly can add the Loader.content; however, it appears you can only do this once the content has completed loading, so you need to incorporate an event handler with the contentLoaderInfo object:
Code:
var myLoader:Loader = new Loader(); var myURLRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("ExternalFileA.swf"); myLoader.load(myURLRequest);
[code]....
What are the pros/cons of adding the entire Loader object, as opposed to the Loader.content and vice versa?
I have an array of suffixes that I'm using to load images, some of which are used multiple times:
Code: for(i = 0; i < imageSuffixARR.length; i++){ var tempLoader:Loader = new Loader(); var loaderOBJ:Object = new Object();
[Code].....
I'm running into is that whatever loader calls the multiple used SWF last gets it. How do I fix this so that the same loader can be used multiple times?
Would like to find out what are the techniques people are using for pre loading multiple dynamic content for example using Loader.load()I understand if i just had one Loader.load() then I can listen to it with contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, callback)But when I have multiple Loaders, what technique is used for ensuring all the content is loaded before playing the swf?Currently I use an counter such a that on each Event.COMPLETE from different Loaders, I increment that counter until I have register all the COMPLETE events. But I think this is certainly not a good method?
I'm have made some buttons (movie clip) and when I click on it, I want a file (home.swf) to load in a loader (mx.contents.loader) and I want the other buttons to do the same, all load into the same loader. I have no Idea how to do that. The way I have it set up now, the home.swf will load over the entire screen and that is not what I want. I just want the content to load into the loader and have its content change once I click on the other buttons. Here is a copy and past of that I have at the moment, I'm using Flash 8 to do it all.
Anyway, I want to duplicate a movieclip several times and then give them a motion guide(is this possible?). I can do the attaching part, im just stuck with actually making it move
If not how would you go about duplicating something and then setting it off in motion? I would just keep changing there x/y cords but its not a straight path
With this I would also need to start the duplicated clip a bit behind the previous movieclip so that it looks like one is following the other.
is there a way to keep the content of a mc (attached content) when I duplicate it? I know that duplicate remembers size, position, rotation etc. But I want to get the attached content too.
The title describes the problem: Loader.load() is firing the INIT event, but in my listener it's reporting loader.content as null. The description for INIT event is "Dispatched by the associated LoaderInfo object when the properties and methods of the loaded SWF file are accessible."I'm loading a lot of JPG images, and 95 percent of the time it works fine; the init listener fires and reports valid loader. content.I absolutely need loader.content available because I need to set the bitmap smoothing property to true.I've tried using Event.COMPLETE and it has the exact same problematic behavior.
I was taking this tutorial, >>LINK<< I want to change it from, Code: on (click) {
Duplicate Movie clip to, Code: onClipEvent (Load) {
That way once it load's it will duplicate the circle MC a random number of times. This circle MC is inside of another MC so it wouldnt be _root i want it to goto, it would be t_mc that I want it to look for it in.
So in the t_mc MC I put this code, Code: onClipEvent (load) { i = i + 1; duplicateMovieClip (t_mc.circle, "circle" + i, i); }
And on the circle, I put this code, Code: onClipEvent (load) { scale = (random(100) + 50) this._x = random(250); this._y = random(150); [Code] .....
I have a 100 x 60 rectangle movieclip and I want to duplicate it n times (n is an arbitrary value taken from XML) and place the newly created movieclips in a grid.
The grid will have an arbitrary number of cols / rows, as these values are taken from XML too.
I'm using a for loop to place the movieclips horizontally, but I have no clue how to create a new row once the desired amount of movieclips have been placed horizontally, and so forth until the maximum (n) number of movieclips have been placed on the stage.
Here's my script so far:
ActionScript Code: var n:Number = 28;//Maximum number of movieclips - this value is actually taken from XML
How to remove a loader and its content using removeChild or any other way, I had removed the loader but its content still playing in the background i know that from the sound of the content.this is the my code for removing:
Adobe air runtime prevents more than one instance of an air application to be started at the same time. Is it safe to circumvent this restriction by arbitrarily changing the publisher ID? Does anyone know if Adobe plans to allow multiple concurrent instances in Air 2.0?
I have a page that has a table with each row corresponding to an audio file. The last cell in each row embeds a simple flash audio player. The problem is that the flash file for the player is being downloaded for each row separately and as soon as rows go beyond 40-50 it crashes the browser.
I tried using different players (1pixelout, flash-mp3-player) and the problem is still there, so its not a player specific issue.
Is there any way to cache the player so that it is only downloaded once?
The following AS3 code is sometimes causing the audio to play multiple times, almost simultaneously like a crazy echo. It usually works ok with that URL but when I use a [URL]... it always freaks out. On rare occasions I think the issue has happened with local files even. I copied this code from somewhere else so I don't entirely understand it. Do you see a problem with this implementation or is Flash just crazy?
What I'm trying to do is quite simple. Load an image externally, then display it (addChild it) multiple times, in different places, without loading it again and again. (Granted, caching means the image won't be downloaded multiple times, but I'd like to avoid those annoying disk accesses as well.) I know that flash doesn't actually support this. A while ago I was trying this same thing, I dug around for hours, and there was no real solution.
I have a problem with my New Loader class I use as3 and buttons to load external files into into my main swf file and I resize the external files to match my stage but they always load from the top left at x=0 y=0 The action script i use is
var swfHolder = new Loader(); mybutton_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOW N, mousedownpresser); function mousedownpresser(event:MouseEvent):void { addChild(swfHolder) swfHolder.load(new URLRequest("myvideo.swf"));
Is there any way I can load the external files into a different position?
I am using a service that returns JSON (geonames.org) and I'm putting the result in an array and dumping it to a datagrid. Now that works fine for one city like this [URL].. However, I want to call this service multiple times with different city names, so I created an XML list ad figured I would iterate over the city list and get the results.
My question is how do I do this such that 1) all the lists are combined into one arraycollection and 2) this seems like I will have to chain the calls and wait for results which may or may not come back, so I thought I would ask the group about the best practice, and or resources to read and examples to build from.
I have to dynamically load an image in 2 separate places, but I don't want to have to load the same image twice (this consumes more bandwidth and makes the user wait longer than needed).Is there a way to, say, copy the contents of a UILoader into the contents of another? I am aware that flash performs caching, but I still see a slight loading delay on subsequent reloads.I am using as3, btw, on flash cs5.
I am trying to make a frame arround an uploaded picture by repeating 1 image over and over again. The user will have to enter the real dimentions of the picture and the image will be scaled acordingly so that the frame will look as big as it should. The problem is that when I get a bigger pickture and I scale the images something goes wrong and there is some smearing in the movie clip. When I move it to X:0 and Y:0 all is well. When I move it to the center of the screen the smearing is there. Here's the code I use:
I am attempting to load multiple images in AS3 and I'm exploring different options on how this can be done.I would like to have to only use one Load() instance and handle the various image assignments in the onComplete handler...here is my first attempt:
var buttonLdr:Loader = new Loader(); buttonLdr.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, onLoadError); buttonLdr.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onLoadCo
which works fine and loaded the image, however when I make a class file out of it it never load the image. The trace in the class did indicate that it was running >start drawing If anyone knows why,
I want to load some .swf files using the Loader class. I'm all set with that and got the image on screen but I wish to have multiple instances of it. Do I have to reload one for each that I intent on using?
For example say I'm attempting to load a power up's graphic from an .swf (i'll call it ex.swf). I load it and then put the image I loaded into the power up. But then I also want to have another power up of the same type somewhere else, and I want to use that same graphic. Neither adding the loaded ex.swf's contents or simply assigning the contents to a child of the power up will work obviously. So do I have to load a new copy every single time i want a new one, or can I just clone/duplicate the contents?
I mean I know it must be common for games to have 100's of copies of the same graphic being used by different things, yet If I try to preload the amount I'd need it's not exactly flexibly and if I load them as I need them it seems bad practice..
I created a Menu with for Loops/addChild and TweenLite. But I have no clue how to tell flash to what page im going when I press one of the buttons.Because the specifications of the page can only be mentioned AFTER the onComplete function, because the content needs to be added AFTER the animation is finished.
