I am trying to simply load and play a simple video clip using as3 code only no flash studio as3 authoring. I have not found anyone that knows how to do this with only as3 code. This is a flv video file. I just need a starting point in AS3. I need only the the as3.

The studio object's "txtVar" value is "studio_txt" The text box always references _root.txtVar, so whichever menu item is clicked, when the text box is told to update, it will load the new value of _root.txtVar. The problem is when i click the "studio" button, the text box fills with "studio_txt" instead of "our studio." So I need to know how to get the text box to read _root.txtVar as a variable rather than a string, I think.

I want to create a simple gallery which is loaded with locally stored FLV short clips. I know how to create a text/image gallery, but I wasn't able to put the VideoDisplay component in the List control.
The final result should be a gallery with videos playing while the cursor is on top of them.

The VB application is communicating with the Flash file via the ActionScript ExternalInterface and FSCommands (using XML strings). I'm having a hard time debugging the applications, since when an error occurs withing the Flash file (due to a bug in the ActionScript code) I'm getting a non-informative exception.
What I'd like to do is to debug both codes at once. At the very least I'd like to see the runtime error output as it is shown when I'm working with Adobe Flash. At the best scenario, I'd like to be able to hook my VB.NET code with the Actionscript code such that I can use breakpoints in both.

I am new to flash and trying to make a simple flash website video intro in Flash CS5 Pro.I have a flv viedo on the stage, under an image with a trasnparent center.I have the video on the bottom layer, the overlay image on the middle layer, and the top layer is my AS layer (AS3).
The video is currently autoplaying when i export.All i want is for it to open my website in the same window as the intro played when the video ends.I dont need a "skip intro button" or anything.I just want it to play the intro when you go to my site, and then bring up the index page of my site after it plays.

It seems a decent price and good functionality, but if someone has experience with it that gives me a lot more insightlso, it's designed w/ AS2 and says it can be used easily w/ AS3 via Loader & LocalConnection, but I've had problems in the past w/ LocalConnection & AVM1Movie's.

I've imported a Quicktime video clip into my scene. I want to slide this video clip in from off screen and have it stop at center stage using keyframes. When I use keyframes to move a video clip - the playback of the clip resets to it's first frame at every keyframe. Is it possible to move a rolling video clip using keyframes without altering the playback of the clip?

I'm having some problems inserting my ammap into my webpage. I've read through the documentation and it isn't helping. The map works with if I use the .html file in my original folder but all the paths are relative and I'm trying to make this work in an ASP.NET MVC project using visual studio. I have built a very simple flash player using the video component and I used cue points in the flv, then I used simple buttons and find cue points code snippets to make my buttons go to a certain part of the movie. All that works very well. Now what I need to do is when a certain que point portion is playing have the button stay in a overstate and once that portion of the video is done or another button is clicked the first button return to upstate and the new portion or the new button have the overstate.

The problem which I am facing is that I have a video clip which has a black background. Now the website which I am working on has images in it. When i load this video clip externally by the action loadMovie("fire.swf", 2); the black background of the video clip also starts showing. I want this video clip to be transparent "without the black background".I have googled it, but all explains the "transparent Flash overlay", which is done with the HTML tags i.e <param NAME="wmode" VALUE="transparent">.

1) How do I get the first frame of the second "photo" (which is actually a short video clip) to be still for maybe half a second, before the video starts playing?
2) When I tried exporting it as an avi, it didn't play properly. The animation of the first photo coming in was fine, and then the second photo came in but the video clip didn't play. (it just looked like a still photo).
I'm making a video with Windows moviemaker (unfortunately) and all I wanted was that short animation to be made into a a video clip (either avi or some format that is compatible with Windows moviemaker).
Or if anyone knows a site that converts an swf to an avi online, for free, please let me know, that would be great. Because it didn't work when exporting it as an avi from Flash, but maybe if I can convert the swf to an avi then it will play properly.

Inside of the getVideoReveiver() function I'm getting the flag to go off from writeText("flag") then I get and output in the text box of:

NetStream.Play.Start
from the netStreamHandler, but the video never shows up in the receiving video element.I'm running this is two different videos of the same computer and taking the nearID from one stream and pasting it into the textInput theirID. I'm not sure what to try next?

I am creating a website that teaches kids about the about the brain and I am creating a website very familiar to this one,[URL]..So far I only know how to draw and call a simple movie clip such as what you see below. What I am trying to do is create the features that you see on the above website. I'll try to explain as best as possible what I have done so far:
I created one flash file and drew the background for where the text will display. Next I created several movie clips for each of the brain parts and I placed an invisible button over each of these movies. For example I told the button, "cerebellum_button" to play the movie "cerebellum_mc" and told it to go to the "turnon" label." Once it stopped at the label "turnoff" it displayed the text for what the cerebellum does.
I don't think that the below method is efficient, I feel that my code is redundant because I�m having to create a button for each animated movie clip, then each one of those movie clips displays text. It seems to me that I can somehow create a text in a centralized location and call it. However because I am new at this stuff I have had to create text in each of the movie clips. Is there a way that I can centralize all of the text then call it? My aim is to have the user roll over the brain part, have it animate, and have it display the text to explain what that brain part does. So far this is what I have working, I have one button and one animated movie that includes text.

I have some FLV video files to be reproduced sequentially by a Flash video player. Suppose v1.flv and v2.flv. I want the player to start playing v2.flv once v1.flv has reached the end. According to this forum, the onPlayStatus does not fire in progressive FLVs. What can be done? A snippet of what I am trying below:

View 1 RepliesI'm using swftools and the jw media player in Drupal. The vids are coming in from another server. The generic player was set to be the default. The generic player only has autoplay which we do not want (that's all we want to change). I tried Flowplayer3 but it supposedly doesn't work with xml. I'm trying jw now, and can get the player working, but it has a skin I don't like (it also won't play the xml-called vids) and I think the skin is coming in from the other server with the videos as it looks too good to be the generic player skin. So in summary, I need to keep the skin and just turn off autoplay somehow. I've read something about Flash doesn't like to pass xml between servers. but if that's the case then how come the videos played with the generic player?[code]...
