ActionScript 3.0 :: Make "start" And "replay" Buttons?

I need to make a button on the first frame saying "play animation", and another at the end saying "replay animation".
I can't figure out how to do this in 3.0. The version I learnt in 2.0 doesn't work, and every internet tutorial I've looked at includes at least 20 lines of something that (to me, as a beginner) looks like indecipherable gibberish.
In 2.0, I was taught to use: on(release) {gotoAndPlay('animstart')}; ...or similar.
What can I use in 3.0? Does it really have to be 20 lines long? I just want to make it go to the next frame, that's all - I've already done the graphics.

wat should i write for the as to recount the number of btn have been clicked? cos this is used in a replay btn. i have btn for user to click n count how many time the btn have been clicked n show out the match image, so now another btn (replay)to let the user to see again the image so what should i write in the replay btn's as to let the count of the times of btn have been clicked start. cos what i done now it can't start to count again it just plus the number i have clicked for the btn.
Let's say if the image just only have 3 so tat when i finish clicked 3 times all the image ady showed n now i click the replay btn but wat i get is wrong cos in the output box it still counting the number i have been click for the btn so it show 4,5,. it can't start count again.

Does anyone know how the replay button on most web banners we see now days on the internet are created?
I'm doing a web banner for school using actionscript 3.0, I just don't know how to make a replay button work using actionscript 3.0 to be able to replay the whole animation again.

I have a couple of movies to add controls to and the consist of a series of layers with classic tweened movie clips. There is a button layer set up along with all the buttons, and an AS3 layer set up. This is the initial code I set up on the AS3 layer first frame:

innercircle is a movie clip which runs throughout the entire movie, so that's why I picked it to use in the command above. When tested this should enable the play button to work, however it's not working and brings up this error:
1061: Call to a possibly undefined method AddEventListener through a reference with static type flash.display:SimpleButton.

I seem to have a problem with re-playing my movie clip buttons for a second time.
it is a little bit more complicated than that as it is over two SWFs (I have attached both flash files).
The idea is that when on the 'home' page movie clip buttons can be used when both SWFs are running. This works from the original loading, but once navigated to another page/section and then returning to 'home', the buttons on the menu1 file stop reacting.
very frustrating as i know it is probably some very simple thing that will fix it, like a _root or a this. or a play rather than stop somewhere, but I've tried for 2 days and I still can't seem to figure it out.
Also, if anyone knows how i can reduce the amount of repeated actionscript I would be eternally gratefull.

I made a flash movie and all i need to do is make a replay button, but i have no idea how. i am using cs5. my movies goes through multiple scenes so at the last scene i want them to click on the reply button to go to the 1st scene again. however, i have no idea where my actions layer and labels layer go or what action to put into my button. i looked around, but every video i find, they seem to only be working in one scene and within one layer too.

I created a game entirely in flash develop. It's running great and looking good. One small problem...I have to make the menu and mouseclick event for replay etc...but they game is entirely on the first frame since it was made in flash develop. as to how I can work around this? I was thinking maybe making the menu movieclips etc and incorporating timers or something of that nature. But when you load the SWF the game goes...so i'd have to pause the game too somehow while the menu is in progress.

I've created a repaly button to replay an imported swf file (instance name=dpCuspSub_mc) located in frame 1 of a movie clip. It works, but then it starts looping and I want it to replay only once.

I'm trying to create the following application:There are 5 different (non overlapping) MC's placed on a still background. They each represent a parcel that will unwrap itself by clicking the corresponding button (invisible button laying over the MC). I want to accomplish two things:1. The viewer must be able to click each of the buttons at random, which should leave each of the buttons disabled after the first time being clicked. A parcel should only unwrap itself once.2. As soon as the last of the 5 parcels has been unwrapped (Each MC stops automatically: actionscript on last keyframe MC), a new MC should start playing automatically (continuing the application). Thus without having to click anything additionally.I hope there is somebody who can make any sence of what I have tried to explain.

I am building a fake Windows looking OS in Flash for a project of mine. So far I have a clickable start menu, and I want the categories inside the start menu to be able to be rolled over like in Windows and open up to clickable links. Just click the start menu in Windows, and then scroll into "All Programs". I want to be able to have scrolling buttons like that. I am using Adobe Flash CS3 Professional and Actionscript 3.0. I've only ever used Flash in the past to make cartoons and things of that nature.

I created these buttons that should do the following screen. Be dark when the mouse is not over them. Smoothly transit to a brighter colour when the mouse get's over them and then again smoothly transit to dark when the mouse get's away. To do so I created 2 animations the one that gets the button darker and the one that gets the button brighter (which is actually the normal picture of the button). The button statuses are these:
UP: Bright to Dark animation
OVER: Dark to Bright animation
DOWN: Bright picture
HIT: Bright picture
now the buttons work perfectly except for the fact that when i turn on the scene before they get dark the buttons have to go through the up animation (bright to dark) so it looks like turning all the lights off. How do i have my buttons start off being dark?

I'm currently making a little header in flash. I created an animation ( things appearing and such ), and I like the way it is. But I'd like to know if it's possible to create two buttons : "stop animation" and "start animation", allowing people not to see the opening animation even if they reload the page and to skip to the last frame. The thing is it's the header of my forum : so it can be a bit annoying if it loads everytime you click on another page.
I read somewhere it's possible by using the "cookies", and a ... "shared object" ?

I am making a webpage for class and i copied all the code from previous projects that i made that worked fine. I made a menu that once you go over the button it starts a 2 motion tweens that end with buttons appearing. i keep getting the message

I have a movie clip with 15 frames. Each frame has buttons on it (mc's)... I was going to put the actions on the main timeline/stage and navigate within the MC from the main timeline. Is that possible? I can get the buttons on the first frame of the MC to work, but I can't seem to figure out how to target/make the buttons on the other frames work? I was thinking I could identify the path of the MC with the frame labels, but that doesn't seem to work. like: _root.RMChanger.(frame label).buttonOnFrame = function
I have to move a text box in and out over the MC backgrounds on the main stage... which is why I was thinking to do it this way? I've been switching back and forth bwtween AS2.0 and 3.0

I'm trying to make a menu that has onRelease buttons on top of onRollover buttons (the onReleases are on a separate layer from the onRollovers). The onRelease buttons take the user to different urls, and the onRollover buttons are supposed to allow different parts of the menu to appear.
The onRelease buttons work fine, but I can't get the onRollover buttons to work consistently. Sometimes the onRollover buttons will correctly advance to a different frame, and sometimes they "stick" and do not advance. The script has no errors and I've tried changing the sizes of the onRollover buttons (in case they were too large and the cursor was hovering over more than 1 at the same time), changing the order of the code for the onRelease and onRollover commands (in case the onRollovers were being superseded by the onRelease commands), and countless variations of the layers and frames.
I'm sure that you'll want to see the script, but I don't think that pasting it all on this post would be reasonable? So I've put the .fla and the .swf on this page for reference: [URL]

Just wondering how to make my interval start when I want it to because im trying to delay a function but i only want that interval to work when the code is being executed so i would have to add some kind of 'start delay' code inside the function.

Let's assume that I can't script the loaded swf, nor can the loaded one script the loader swf.
I was attempting to set frame rate to 0, and wait after all swfs are loaded, and set frame rate back. But I found when I set the frame rate to 0, I could not receive the complete event! And it's weird that i can still receive UI events...
Is there a way to load several swfs and start them together?

I was looking for an answer to a question and found a similar post from nearly a year ago on here however thought it may b better to raise as a new topic since it is so old and may not get any attention due to that.
Basically I am putting together a flash (as3) website with each page being a frame on the timeline. There is a link on the main page (frame1) that links into frame 2 which then cycles through right up to frame 18 and starts again sort of like a manual slideshow. The problems is I need the second frame to start at the top instead of going into the next frame at the point you view the first frame at i.e bottom of the page. The second page has text that doesn't reach right to the bottom so all that is seen is a blank white patch which is not a good experience even though it is easy to scroll up.

If I have for example a simple timeline with 2 labels.The first one is called "Intro" and the second one is called "Loop".So I would like to make the playhead start on frame 1 ("Intro" starts) and when it gets to frame 100 ("Loop" ends), make it loop 3 times and then go back to frame 1.So I would simply write the code:

Lets say it does, how would it increment loops to more than 1, if when its incremented to 1 the playhead goes to frame 1, runs that code again, so loops would be assigned 0 again, right?

I have two arrays contains several movie clips. I used for loop to inject first array in timeline object succefuly. But then I realized, what the hack I will do about the second array I need to start them simultaneously and every array must have different destination at x and y.. Imagine banner 745x100px, I need to animate different movie clips from sides to some destination.

I have a flash file with a volume controller. everything works the problem is that music wont start unless play is pressed and volume gets turned up. Obviously is something to do with the coding in the script. All I want is the music to start automatically and the volume to be up already once song is loaded.
