im trying to do is have a button that shows an animation (created by a duplicateMovieClip function) with onRollOver and stops the animation with onRollOut. It works when i roll over and it stops when i roll out, but then it continues in a loop up to the point where i rolled out (instead of cutting off completely as i would like). Id be extremely grateful if you could tell me where im going wrong.

Edit: I'm Using CS4. I'm new to AS, but do have background in programming language. I can read and understand. So here is my problem. I'm working on TemplateMonster #16330. So I just want to add another page to the gallery section, and 3 is the default. Basically, button "3" has two version with slightly different code.

I'm very new at Flash and while Ive picked up the basics of tweening and creating animations. I'm trying to create an image of a post it note that is revelaed via a mask when a user rolls over a seperate image. I have created the animation of the mask and it revelas the note fine. My question is how do I create an invisible button and code it in action script so when I roll over image 1 my mask tween begins playing to reveal the post it.

This one is tough to diagnose. I built an animated jigsaw app that pulls in a dynamic .swf that can be viewed here: [URL] It works perfect in Chrome. Works in FF 3.5.5 until I start reloading. Doesn't even work in IE7. Could be a embed problem in the HTML. Could be something I did in flash. [I can get more into the methods I used] [for those that only see it working or don't see it working] There should be an orange animation of a morphing shape cutout into jigsaw shaped pieces and a start button. When it doesn't load, the animation, nor start button display. And the menu is slightly messed up.

I am working on a program to draw something using dimensions input by the user. As the user changes these dimensions, the drawing changes to match. The problem I am facing is that it currently requires 15 textInputs to draw the image. I have them set up so that you can tab through them to enter the information quickly, then all of the drawing is done through ActionScript in the Submit button below the entry. However, when I enter 15 lines of information my instinct automatically presses enter to complete the process, every time. Now for my question. Is there a way to make a keystroke equal a button press? Or do I have to copy all 500 lines of code into a keystroke listener?

I have attached the file for reference but would like to know how to start the mc 1936 when the file is published and the swf is first opened. I can get this to do this HOWEVER I cannot get the 1936 to then respond correctly as per the actionscript IE close when 1938 is clicked? 1936 keeps opening and I cannot get this to ONLY do this ONCE when first opened.

I'm making an interactive book and I would like to make my "Text"-layer invisible when I start the "Turn Page"-animation. It's either that, or I'm gonna have to put a code for EVERY 23 MoveClips with the Texts in them, since I'm using the same "Turn Page"-button.

now I just started with Flash and have ran into an issue. I made a little animation (motion tween I think) and then made a button which is supposed to start the animation (play it).
My script so far:

(knappEnter is the instance name of the button, starteAnimasjon means startAnimation in norwegian, sorry for that, name of the animation is figur)
So basically I've managed to make the animation stop which is what I wanted, then made the button work, but now I need the last command so the button makes the animation play! I've been looking around for a while, but I just don't know how to do it

I'm trying to make a button that has an animation as well as a function. Currently i have an MC with an animation in it and on roll over/out it plays forward or in reverse. Now I've tried adding a function that when clicked, the animation goes straight to the end of the animation until clicked again.

Tried with variables, setting whether or not it was clicked, yes or no. But the enterFrame kept resetting it.

I have a button with a movie clip animation in it, and I finally have it all working just how I want, but one thing.it always plays the animation when I first open it and test it in a browser and the flash player.The button scales out an image to a larger image when you hover over it so when I open it in a browser/flash player the larger scaled out animation plays down to its original size.how can I can make my button not play the animation when its first opened in a browser?

On a flash time line we've got this movie, it plays and then on the last frame there is action script to stop it. (prevent loopage) However, after the movie stops there are a couple of movie clips that loop forever, one of which is a spinning navigation. The navigation spins and spins for eternity, until you mouse over it. When you mouse over it it stops spinning. Theoretically you can then click on the button, which will lead to the page, that you want to go to.Now, making the buttons lead to the page, that's not a problem. The problem is, that before I want it to jump to another page, I want there to be a....how do we see...entrance animation to play.So like, if you click on blue page, a blue square will fade in on top of the button you just pressed, it will grow larger and cover the page, then bam, new page loads (new page would be designed in blue, thus you get the idea?). I know how to use a button to load movie, to make a complete flash site, but I'm not doing that, I want the pages it jumps to to be in html. But I know about doing that too.
What I don't know how to do is, make the entrance animation show up where the button currently is. Because the navigation is spinning and because it pauses on mouse over, the buttons are never in the same place. I know the loadmovie command can load a movie on top of this one, but it generally just throws it up there, or you can specify a point, but how can you specify that it load starting where the button is?

I'm trying to broaden my horizons with it and so I'm trying to do an update of a quiz program my employer has. Everything has worked well, except for the timer. The button that starts the game has two options, "study" or "exam"; if the study is selected, there is no countdown, just the score keeper. If the exam option is selected, the timer is show (counting up). But, press "Start" and while the quiz begins, the timer, in either case, does not.
I'm going to post the actionscript for the timer that was already there, as well as the start button. I'm hoping someone can explain how this timer is supposed to work and why it's not; and where the disconnect lies in pressing the start button and making it run.The timer is embedded in a movie clip, with two dynamic text boxes, that are for some have no instance name; and actionscript spread out over several frames.Frame 1:

I'm designing a platformer game, in which the code is all held within the character MC. I want to pause the game using something like 'delete this.onEnterFrame' as a start point to terminate code. The code layout within the character is like so:
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
...
this.onEnterFrame = function(){ //within clip event
...
if(btnon == 1){ // when button pressed(on stage)) global value of 1 is true
delete this.onEnterFrame;
}...}}
Due to the fact its within a clip event structure, it doesn't pause it, instead it slows everything down. Would I have to construct all my code in a frame layer or can I still use an MC to terminate this?

I am trying to make an animation in which different layers (=images) come into the stage, then stay in place and other layers move in and stay as well. I have done 2 of the layers so far, converted them into movie clips, tweened them etc. When I run the cursor along the timeline, I see the desired result on the stage, ie everything comes in at the right time and stays in place. However, when I export it to view the film, only the first layer comes in, moves into place and stays there, and then nothing happens, ie the second layer never comes in.
I've tried everything I can think of, moving the layers around etc, and have deleted and redone the whole thing many times in an attempt to fix this, but I simply don't know what is wrong.

I have an animation script for particles that was created in Flash 6. I'm trying to recreate it in my flash document that is setup as Flash 8. I couldn't get the animation to play and then I figured out that if I go back to this original Flash 6 document and change it to Flash 8, it won't play in that document either. I'm really new to Flash and scripting in general. Is there a solution that preferably involves changing the Flash 6 particles effect document so that I can recreate it in my Flash 8 document and have it animate?

I started out with Swish, then I moved on to Flash8. I have quickly realized that it's a lot more difficult to achieve animation. Probably due to my lack of education with actionscript 2.0 and Flash8. Are there simple shortcuts to being able to do something as simple as making a photo spin around and explode? I haven't explored Flash8 much, but it doesn't seem as easy as Swish was. Of course, Swish seems obsolete compared to more advanced flash programs.

can someone give me an idea how I would use a function to enlarge and change the alpha of a button but make it span over a period of time like it was an animation.a long time ago on gear78.com I think he used functions to make his buttons do what they did and it was badass. if I find another site I will post a link. if you don't know what the heck I am talking about tell me and I will try and explain it more.

I've got a flash animation attached which I added a layer to and follow the post at [URL] to try and make it go to a url when the layer is clicked.
You can see the animation at [URL] but when it is clicked on, instead of going to the site I specify [URL] it goes to [URL]
I'm nearly at the end of my tether here - have tried it in flash cs3 trial with a number of tutorials online,. and I also just bought Koolmoves, tried it as well but it does exactly the same this. I've set Flash 8 export and network access in publish options

Basically I want to have something pop-up, and stay up on when the mouse moves to a side of the swf, but it re-animates the pop-up motion when the mouse is moved even after it is on one side. Here is the script I wrote for it: (left_motion is the mc that has the animation.)

I want to use the same flash file on multiple pages on my website, but on some pages, I don't want the first two scenes to play-- they are introductions & a preloader, and I figure this would be smart to use the same file if the logo is already in the viewer's cache. I have my animation set to gotoAndplay a frame after the introduction, so I want to start it after the intro on other pages.How do I embed an animation to start at a different frame than Frame 1?

One slide of a slideshow I'm making I want the animation to end after it's completed without looping. I can do this by adding the stop(); command into the last frame of that slide, but if I return to that slide, it will remain in the end position instead of replaying.

I am looking for real simple scripting - I have a 15-25 frame flash tweened animation and all I would like to do is run thru the animation once then on mouse click go to frame one and start again. And of course I am under a time crunch and completely fogged with actionscript 3.0. I did some basic projects back in the director days and thought I could just pick up where I left off. If I remember right it was simple scripting like

and
pause
etc...
