ActionScript 3.0 :: MovieClip HealthLibrary The Mask Effect Fails
Sep 15, 2009
When I run this with the movieClip "screens" tweening through the mask everything works as expected. As soon as I try to do the same with the movieClip healthLibrary the mask effect fails. One thing I just noticed is that all the assets in the healthLibrary mc are png files while all the assets in the screens mc are jpg. Could that be the problem?
im trying to create a flash effect using a mask layer.i want to have a text box which is invisible, and throu the timeline small peices of a mask layer will move over the text box, revealing the text. My problem is this, if i create a mask layer with more than 1 object, when i try to move the objects (for example in different directions so the text will reveal from both sides) then i get a weird movement from the objects (like the sum of both movements i wanted) so i was think maybe a layer can contain only one moving object.So i just cant figure how can i get the effect i want.
I want to achieve smoke mask but it doesn't look realistic so I was wondering is it posible to do this.I have two images one black&white and the other one is color and with mask I reveal the color picture and for that I'm using mask ( best solution is something like smoke)
I'm guessing this would be simple but I just started in flash and have no clue what I'm doing wrong here. I'm trying to add an animated logo effect using a linear gradient to create a glimmer effect, using a motion tween. In order to make it appear the logo glimmered with light every so many seconds.When I add a mask to the glimmer layer but the effect comes out obviously wrong. I read somewhere that in the action script I have to use "cacheAsBitmap" but that does not seem to effect anything.I found an example of the effect I am looking to do in a tutorial pertaining to text effectsI have seen this effect used thousands of times online, but there doesn't appear to be any tutor
I have a mask and I want to take 12 images and put the same mask to it and then loop them.I can apply the mask to one image but would this be easier to do in actionscript or am I completely off base here?
I have a mask transitioned 2 pic banner I'm using for a site. Everything appears perfect and am happy with the result.
After a while in ie7 or Chrome (indeed possible any browser!) the transition will freeze - most often mid transition! I have racked my brain trying to figure it out and can only conclude it is an issue with the loop killing the cache of browser or something.
It's an ol' favorite AS2 fla of mine and was taken from a FLASHMO template. how the original that mine was built from and see any problems with cache or runtime etc.? Would a conversion to AS3 fix?
I'm trying to make a preloader with a mask effect. preloader.zip I need the animation to follow the path the right way - from point 1 to point 2. Of course this is wrong now because the mask effect isnt well done.
I am trying to dynamically load images into this slideshow. I have 2 MC's, one with an animated mask, one without. I am trying to load an image into the first MC, have the mask reveal it, then load that image into the 2nd MC which is behind this one. This way, when the next image loads and has the mask show it, the other image will still be on the stage behind the new one, and so forth.Here is the excerpt of code from where the main actions are being done..
var myMCL:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader(); var myListener:Object = new Object(); myMCL.addListener(myListener); var canMoveOn:Boolean;
I have seen how mask in photoshop works. However flash mask does not work like that. I want to create a effect in flash with a image dynamically. Probably involving bitmapdata. As yo can see the second image is the actual one. I want to create the first one from the second one using actionscript. But the problem is flash masking does not understand gradient mask etc.
I have been searching for a few days now, I keep seeing the question, but no answer. I created a text effect using a mask. It works great when I move through the timeline.However, when I test the movie or publish it as swf or htmp, the mask doesn't work. As I was searching for an answer, I noticed several references to making sure the font is embedded, so I made sure I did, but it's still not workingI am using:Flash Professional CS5Windows 7Flash Player 10ActionScript 3.0
I have a logo I created for my webpage with FreeHand. I have finally learned how to do a lighting mask to have the effect of the moving gleam across my logo, but whenever I try to create the effect (using different methods even) it isnt' working correctly. Only part of my logo is being affected by the mask. I have tried all the things that I can think of to make this work. So far the only thing that has worked is changing the vector logo into a jpeg and plugging it into flash, but I really don't want to do that due to resolution and cleaness of the image. I am including links to the 2 files - the original logo as well as the masking .fla file that I have been trying to make work.
I use this method to give a fade in effect to my galleries, but there is a problem with it when i m viweing it in the browser if i go to another tab then go back to the tab wich has the sef with this fade in mask t messes all up the mask get smaller or dissapear anyone knows how to fix it or another way of making an fadein/out mask? here is the code i use
I have plenty of ways of creating falling snow like effects, but a client has just comitted me to an effect as a test of my ability without talking to me first, that I am a little stumped by.I need to have a top down falling snow effect (its actually supposed to be flour falling from a sieve but hey...). All the snow effects I know, fall down sideways on, from top to bottom, and then they disappear off the page (the flakes).I need the particles (movieclips) to fall downwards from a birds eye view, and 90% of them to disappear, but the remaining 10% to gradually (over about 5 seconds) build up a white logo (shape) in the middle of the screen.So I am guessing that I am going to have to be clever with dynamic masks to get the shape appearing a little bit at a time, and then I also need some random motion, and scaling as the particles fall downwards (and away) from the eye.
Before I jump in at the deep end, has anyone got any ideas on this, even just part of it (the falling particles or the revealing dynamic mask part) would be a great help.Please let me know if you can help with ideas and input in anyway, and I'll give you credit on the final project when complete, as well as much help as I can with game related scripting and deisgn/URL...
I have a site that loads XML content data into a movieclip right away. When the user clicks a button, that movieclip is removed and replaced with another. When the user clicks a back button, the XML is loaded into the movieclip once again. The trouble I'm having is when I upload the files to server, the XML will not load a second time either by refreshing the browser, navigating away from the page and going back or going back from within the flash file itself.
CS5. 120fps bottom layer png of car, duration 120frames, top layer png of indicator lights duration 60 frames, run movie lights flash. Select both layers and go Modify>convert to symbol>movieClip. Copy the MC that appears in the library to a new blank file, make that file also 120fps. run movie see car but no lights flash. I have done no coding at all, does it need such to run. It has just what may be created when choosing new file. What I had been doing was putting this MC at the start of a bent line, snapping to the seed point, then 7 secs later (frame 840) placing it at the end of a bent line, snap etc.
Rotated it to match direction of line, created then a classic motion tween, then added a guide layer and put this line (edit copy>edit paste in place) onto that guidelayer at fr1. deleted the original line. Made the MC at fr1 orientToPath. Run Movie and it worked, but no indicators. Thinking the indicator function got screwed up somewhere, I did the test above. Obviously not the MC as a classic tween at fault. Something fundamentally basic I am expecting to work.
I'm doing a basic hitTestPoint which works fine when everything is placed on the root of the flash file. However it fails when all the elements are placed within a movieclip. I've a feeling the problem is due either to the registration of the objects changing once they are placed in the new movieclip symbol, the 'relativity/absolutness' of my referencing or the "hitTestPoint (dragable_object_mc.x, dragable_object_mc.y, true)" part of my code.I have two movieclips: dragable_object_mc - which you can pick up and dragstatic_crashzone_mc - If you drag the other object into this a collision is 'traced' in the output window(it works fine until I place the _mcs and code into a new _mc symbol)Incidentally if I use the 'hitTestObject' code on the root or within a movieclip, it works fine.[code]
I will have three seperate pages for the motion tween, mask effect and shape tween... would you make the seperately, in a different scene, as a symbol or on the same scene with the website.
I have a movieclip with a prefilled content (some simple vector graphic in a movieclip), with the height of 40. I then apply a mask to it, with the height of 30. Now i would think that the MovieClip is 30 pixel high, but it turns out to be 40 pixel high. Is there some property im not setting or does the movieclip always assume the height of ALL the content within it? or what?
Actually in another clip, too, I have predefined 2 vector graphics (in two seperate movieclips), where the highest one is applied as a mask to the second graphic. The movieclip again assumes the height of the highest element. That might be logical, as it is the mask, BUT! when i then resize my mask (programatically) the height of the movieclip remains the same.Is there some way to recalculate the height of a movie clip? Or am I missing something?
I have a movie clip that has imported xml in its text boxes, when i try to mask this MC with a rectangle, it doesnt show the xml loaded text boxes!! but it does show other elements like graphics in the MC.
I have a movieclip, "clip1", that is being masked by "mask1". the mask starts as a small circle and grows into a big one, gradually showing the screen. However, the sharp corners on the mask are bugging me and I want it to have soft corners as it goes across the screen. I've read around, and it seems like a blurfilter may be able to do the trick. However, I can't seem to tell any difference; the corners are not softened whatsoever. I can't post the actual code, but here's what the important snippet of code looks like:
ActionScript Code: var clip1:MovieClip=new MovieClip1(); var mask1:MovieClip=new MaskClip1();
Have you ever tried to mask a blurred movieclip? If the mask is made manually and set on stage it works ok, if we use:mc.mask = mask;it seems like the mask is also blurred and it doesn't work as expected! Do you have any idea on how to solve this?
I'm trying to add a mask animation on a movieclip that i have in the library. The problem is that my code add the image to the movieclip that i have created to contain the image but his mask doesn't animate.
So i have:
- the mask layer
-- a layer for the image
- a layer for the movielip background
in this order. With greensock i add a scale animation to the mask layer on the mouseover event but it doesn't animate.
Code: import com.greensock.*; import com.greensock.easing.*; var columns:Number; var my_x:Number;
I posted this in Kirupa but unfortunately i did not receive any response from the community for 4 days now. I'm thinking perhaps somebody here can answer my long awaited explanation for this bug or phenomenon. I have a shape animation on the timeline from one keyframe to the next (3 keyframes). There is an orange movieclip under that mask with instance name "container". Now if i attempt to attach a movieclip to it at runtime, it will automatically get removed when it reaches the 2nd shape tween keyframe. All my code is in frame 1. Isn't that illogical? I know it works if i place it into a movieclip. I need an explanation to this (if its a bug) and a workaround other than repetitively attaching it from frame to frame.
I am dynamicly adding xml data into three text fields buy looping and then adding the text_info movieclip to a scroll_box movie clip then adding the scroll_box to the _myCanvas movieClip. I want to mask the data but am not getting the results I though I should.
I'm trying to mask a movieclip using a mask created with AS3 but it changes the color of the movieclip being masked. I would like the mask to not change the color of the masked movieclip. Here is my code:
mask_mc.mask=masked_mc; drawMask(); function drawMask():void {
[Code].....
The masked movieclip becomes the same color as the color defined in beginFill. In the example above, masked_mc turns black (as defined in beginFill). Removing beginFill masked everything and revealed nothing. masking with AS3 without changing the color of the movieclips being masked.
