I am making a slideshow background which adjusts to the width of the browser. However, whenever I resize the browser, the background color is visible for a moment along the edges. How can I get rid of this. I know that it is possible. If you look at the following site, the images resize perfectly:

I want to have a background image that resizes to the browser window (my other elements retaining their size) - but stays in scale. I have been using the code provided at gotoandlearn which tiles the image. Here is the code used there.

View 4 Replieseverything is working well with the exception of the background image/stage. Whenever I preview it in a browser, the site gets stuck in the upper left corner. I need it to automatically resize according the to viewers browser size. How do I do this? From what I've seen online, it involves possibly putting everything in a movieclip, which I can do, I just don't know how to proceed from there.

Im trying to get the sprite overlay to stick to the edges of the stage when I resize the swf window. It works when you resize the width, but not the height.

I have been struggling with this with CS4 and CS5. I am working on an animation with a couple of characters comprised of several pngs I converted to symbols. When one characters symbols overlap another characters the swf file shows the stage color rather than the background image I have placed in the file. I can publish it as an html with the option of playing it windowless transparent and it will remove this problem. But I would like to just be able to play the swf file without this issue.

The stage is 700x550
The image is 2100x1650, and it's registration point is at its center, if I remember correctly.The initial location of the image on the stage is 350,75.I want to make sure that the user will be able to drag the image, as long as the edges of the image doesn't show.here's what I did:

The the top and the left of the image are bounded well, but as far as the bottom and the right side of the image.
I have been trying to figure out a good strategy to perform a bitmap crop using Actionscript3. For example: I have a picture of a car and I want to crop out the car from the image alone and feather the edges so that they do not look jagged.
I am a flash noob and have only been using it for a couple of weeks. I've tried a couple of options and here is the last one that I have come up with it: I place red dots on stage that are draggable so that you can outline the object you want to crop and the dots are the bounds for a gradientFill that is used as the bitmap's mask. (I am using a radial gradient ... so the results are far from what I want, since the car is not an oval).

1) How can I fade just the edges of this custom-shaped fill outlined by the red dots?
2) I want to save the image out to a file once it's cropped. What strategy would be better for doing this using a BitmapFill or a GradientFill as a Mask (If it's possible with both)?
3) I may be using this strategy to crop faces later on.. anyone know of any good face detection APIs for as3? (also edge detection APIs)
Recently a client of mine decides he wanted rounded edges for his page vs. the typical square edges. This was after the initial design and at the point where it is almost complete.I told the client that in order to do this we would have to go to a full Flash web page meaning a full browser Flash page (everything is already flash).Now I told him that we could do this but because it was a new design and as you know that there is much involved in doing something like this i.e. all the paths will have to be changed because it will have to reside inside a mc etc.if there is an actual way to make the stage rounded only for future knowledge.I know I can make a round edge square or rectangle but it still has square edges at outer edge of the stage.
View 5 RepliesI'm creating a shape in code based on some random points and then using it as a mask for an image. What I'm hoping to do is have the mask fade the image to transparent around the edges. I know I can do this using a gradient mask, the issue is how do I create a gradient on a shape that just fades out around the edges? The shape is not regular, so a radial or linear fill just won't cut it.

What i can't figure out is when a button is pressed the HTML background color changes to one of 5 preselected colors (that alternate ever time the button is pressed). Then for each background change the text changes too as it is part of a entire new color scheme.

What I've managed so far is to change the color of the background thats within the Flash file. What i did was to make a movie clip that plays to a next frame and stop everytime the button is pressed. Now i just need to also get to change the HTML color and the font colors.

View 1 RepliesI am currently working on a flash website that has several flv videos on it. Since the website layout has a slight tilt, I have had to transform the videos to slightly tilt as well. The problem that I am having is that when I do this the image becomes very pixelated and the edges of the video become jagged. I have somewhat fixed the edges issue by making a mask around it but i really dont know how to make the resolution better, or what causes it to loose resolution when slightly transformed. The size of the videos is the same as encoded. All I do is tilt them upwards on the right side a bit.
