View 3 RepliesI have 3-4 swf those i want to load one after another like a slideshow.What i want to do is get the total frames of loaded swf and want to pass that value to Timer object's delay parameter. i have converted total frames to milliseconds so i can use it in timer constructor. But i am not getting the value of that variable outside of my Event.COMPLETE listener method. Here is my code what i have done

Trying to pass a variable as well and cant seem to escape to pass it. How can I pass using window.open as such: Trying to pass (pid) all i get back is (pid) and not actual pid.How to on a jscommand?
Code:
something.onRelease = function () {
var jscommand:String = "window.open('http://www.someform.php?proj= + (pid)','win','height=200,width=300,toolbar=no,scrollbars=yes');"; getURL("javascript:" + jscommand + " void(0);"); }
I can do a standard getUrl("http://www.someform.php?proj=" + (pid), "_blank"); works fine but no control over window properties.
I'm trying to pass the contents of variable playnoyes to the long line of code below to decide whether or not to autoplay the flash movie, but doing it as I have below, the resultant line of code has the variable in quotes and therefore the code doesn't execute it as expected. My question is, how can I pass the variable so that the resulting line of code doesn't have the quotes around the variable value.
var playnoyes='true';
var testtext = "<script type='text/javascript'>AC_FL_RunContent ('codebase','http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.[code]....

I have a class (ImageLoader) that extends Sprite container and loads an external image to its instance. When i instantiate an object of this class from another (Main) class i want to have the dimensions (width, height) of the loaded image being known to this (Main) class. It seems that is difficult for me as the dimensions are known after the image compete loaded. But i don't know how to pass this information from completeHandler event handler to the Main class.
package
{
import flash.display.Sprite;
import flash.events.Event;

I need to set a value for the Referer header when making a request to my local proxy script from Flash. As recommended in this question: Facebook Proxy Loader Security, I need to check the HTTP_REFERER to test if traffic is coming from my own domain. The problem is that when using a loader like the code below, no Referer header is sent.
package com.utils.loaders {
import flash.net.URLVariables;
import flash.net.URLRequest;
[Code]...
According to the Flash docs: [URL] there is only very limited support for HTTP headers in Flash Player, and Referer is prohibited. Is there anything I can do here other than have my proxy check that $_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER'] is empty? (and that seems like a fairly large hole in security right there)
What is the recommended way of passing objects into the eventhandlers of a Loader?
var l:Loader = new Loader();
var o:Object = new Object();
l.tag = o; // i imagine something like this

I am really pulling my hair out with this one. Flash game, container swf loads a img using the loader class. The image is the map which will be used on the levels. The problem im having is that I originaly had each level load the map image, convert to a bitmap, and us it to create x and y's for colision detection.
the problem was that the game was loading and sometimes the map image hadent loaded. It also ment that each level was loading the same image and if the above happened on the 3rd, 4th level it was very annoying. So I need a way to load the image in the parent, but have it available to the child, however it must be available as at bitmap to work.

I'm running into some problems using the close() method.I'm trying to build a class that checks a resource size before loading it.it's very simple: I use the Loader class to load the resource, listens to the first progress event and immediately closes the connection with the Loader.close() method.However, the close() doesn't seem to stop the Loader after the first progress event dispatched.here is a quick copy & paste frame code just to demonstrate my point:
Code:
import flash.display.Loader;
import flash.events.ProgressEvent;
import flash.net.URLRequest;
[code]....
The ProgressEvent is thrown until the big.jpg loading is complete.How could I stop it just after the first progress event?
I have my game swf called inside a fla with loader method. The swf loaded completely, played well.Strange,when my player lost game, I mean for GameOver dialog box. It was playing well without any fault when i played my game swf individually, but when I called it inside a fla, its dialog box button is not working as usual.
View 2 RepliesIs this possible ? If yes how ?Otherwise what's the alternatives ?
By dynamically I mean using
loader = new Loader();
loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, finishLoading);

Actually, I already know the answer. The main reason I'm posting it here is for Google searchers, and if I copy and paste the post into my blog, my ActionScript code gets formatted all pretty, when all I have to do is add "as" tags here.
Error: Error #2069: The Loader class does not implement this method.

I am trying to pass a variable with brackets in the variable name. Example
productoption[]="value";
Whenever I publish the file flash gives me an unexpected "]" error code. Is it possible to have a variable name with brackets? I tried to use the escape codes %5B%5D to pass the brackets but that didn't work also.

I upload a file using adobe air HTTPService.Send method by passing byte array of file content read using FileReference. When I write the set of bytes from the server side (php) it writes the details of the byte array (buff) to the file instead of contents of the file like "endian=bigEndian&position=0&bytesAvailable=61127&length=61127&objectEncoding=3" . Below I have included the code that how I read the file and send it to server. Is there anyway that i can directly pass the data in the byte array to send method?
File Read
var buff:ByteArray = new ByteArray();
var localFilePath:String = "/Videos/sample.txt";
var uploadedFile:File = new File(localFilePath);

when i write prototype method and declare a variable inside the prototype method. this is fine but as sonn as i declare another variable with the same name i get an error. conflict with "variable" namespace internal. i've contact other users and they claim they don't get this same issue. i'm using flash CS3, i have flash player 10 installed but cs3 only supports up to 9 so i have 9 selected. and i'm using AS3. this is some code you can use to test to see if you get this issue:

can i pass variable from one swf to another swf. each swf is in separate html page.
View 3 RepliesWhen I use the following code inside a keyframe in a layer (Actions layer) it works fine. When I use it inside a custom class I get the following error: .../siteLoader.as, Line 19 1061: Call to a possibly undefined method load through a reference with static type Loader.

I am able to pass a variable from an html link that loads a separate html file and instructs the embedded file to go to a specific frame. But - I now need a link within an swf file on one page to open a new page and tell that swf to start on a specific frame and it is not working. Here is the code I use for the first example - works like a champ:

I want to put a variable at the end of a URL and have Flash "find" that variable. The url would be: [URL] "Campbell" is the variable I want to pass to Flash. I then have this script in the root timeline:
loadVariables (""+agent".txt", this);
I want "agent" to be replaced with Campbell. That way I can have it read a bunch of variables from the txt file. I tried this as well:
loadVariables (""+_root.agent".txt", this);
What am I missing in this?
I have declared one variable in one.fla file on a button press i am opening another swf file. [code]...

Now I understand this has been asked to go from Parent to Child before, which is all well and good, but what I want to know is, how do I go about passing from a Child SWF back to the Parent?[code]...

View 2 RepliesI want to pass a variable from one swf to another that will be embedded in an html page that the first swf will open. Basically, I want to pass a variable with the URL of the image that the second swf should load.
I respect people that have this knowledge, and I am not asking you specifically for the code, but for some directions on how to make this happen.
