Aug 21, 2009I am trying to print a HTML from my air app, however, this HTML should never be seen on screen. I am using HTMLLoader for this, as per some sample I saw on the web.
What happens, is that there is a print dialog, but it prints out a blank page.
If this is a window application, and I click some button to print (just the HTMLLoader) it gets printed.
Following is my code.

Flash :: Way To Scroll Content Within A Sprite
Mar 4, 2010I am very new to ActionScript and Flash development so excuse any incorrect terminology that I may use. I'm developing on Ubuntu, using AS3, and compiling with the flex sdk using the ANT tasks (flexTasks-4.0.0.10485).I am looking for a way to scroll content within a sprite. So, say I have a sprite that is 100px in height, and I add several child objects stacked on top of each other that exceed the sprite height, then I would like to display a scrollbar to enable scrolling through the children.Now I found fl.controls.ScrollBar, but when I attempt to import the class I receive the error:Error: Definition fl.controls:ScrollBar could not be found.I'm not sure why I am receiving this error, as this appears to be a valid AS 3 component according to the livedocs.Is there a scrollbar component in AS 3 that can be attached to a display container like a sprite?

Apr 10, 2009I have created a sprite gradient box as my background in my flash as3 file (using tweenmax). As i'm trying to make this a full screen swf on the browser window, i set the width and height according to the stage.
My trouble is that when I resize my browser, the gradient box does not resize with it... it only does when i refresh the window with the new width/height.
Is there a way I can put a redraw function in an event handler that will recognize the window resize? If this is hard to understand... can my background become bigger at the same time as the window is being dragged to a new size?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Dynamic Loading Of Content In One Long Sliding Sprite
May 26, 2009I am building a long timeline (50-100 entries) dynamically from XML. An entry can have either text or image or both. They all have the same distance from each other but they have different widths. there will be a slider at the bottom to quickly bring the user from one end of the timeline to the other end.
It's an interface that's similar to the aiga design archives. [URL]
The main difficulty I see is to dynamically load content that is currently visible first and content that is 'offscreen' later (or even unloading it if it enhances performance, does it?) I could try to figure out the math... but I know from experience that I get major headaches from such undertakings...
The second difficult task will be to determine the width of all entries before displaying them.. Is there a way in as3 to find out how wide an image is before completely loading it? Hmm that sounds a little unrealistic, but I thought I'd ask anyway
I am looking for an as3 class or library that could assist me in building this, mainly detecting if an entry is visible or not, or even better which entries are visible or not. Has anyone seen any as3 libraries related to such an interface?

Jan 3, 2011Whenever I include flash content on a page it causes IE & FF3+ to redraw the background.This does not happen in Google Chrome, Safari, or FF2.
On every page of my site there is a small flash animation that is in a hidden div. That flash content become visible and plays on a mouse-over event. That all works fine. However, in the above mentioned browsers, that flash content causes the site's background to be redrawn on every page-load, causing a flicker. Is there any way to prevent this? A google search revealed other people having the same issue, but no resolution.

Jan 23, 2009I am using the SWFObject and alternative content for a flash navigation. Unfortunately, if the viewer does have Flash installed, a white box appears before the nav appears. I am using a gif as a tiling background image for the nav, therefore the swf has a transparent background. Everything is good except for the second that the white box shows up.here's a bit of CSS and XHTML, but I have looked at this as well as the flash document, but I have been able to resolve the issue, and I'm out of ideas.

in the HTML file I did set the margins to 0pix and the SWF's height and width to 100%. But when I type in the address in the browser to open the page the first time, I see the flash movie in the center with white background around it anyway, and when I resize the browser's window (even if just 1pix) everything is perfect. ActionScript 3.0 :: Does Loaded Content Get Choppy While Loading In Background
Apr 27, 2010I have some preloader (timeline-based) content and some FLV's that I want the user to see while other content is loading in the background. The preloaded content and the FLV's are very choppy while the content is loading and run fine afterward. I initially thought this might be a RAM issue, but my other apps are running fine at the same time (YouTube, etc.) so I think it's an issue within my code or Flash Player. How do the really nice preloaders (animation on timeline OR FLV's) run so smoothly while background content is loaded? For example, are they independent SWF's? internalized classes exported for Actionscript? some other option I'm not privy to? Mine, for example, are internal classes in the main library that I have exported for AS.

Jan 15, 2009I recently found a great tutorial for making a scalable background image on: [URL] which has worked a treat. But my content is now positioned top left. How can I centre it without effecting the background? The full code I'm using on the first frame is below. I can centre all the content by changing Stage.align to "T", but then the background image has a nasty white space on the left hand side when the user resizes the browser.
I'm a flash newbie, can do some basics:

I have gone through it all and it works great for the tutorial but I tried replacing the background with an image and when the browser is resized to full screen it distorts the image and stretches it out of proportion. Does anyone know how I can have the background image resized to the full screen and stay in proportion?

My main project is 1400*900px.
My MC to handle is 1000*680px.
I load an external SWF in that MC (with addChild).This external SWF is 1000*680px too (same size than parent).I have a lot of clips in my external SWF and some of them are "out" the project zone.So when I load it in my MC; the MC is no more 1000*680 but more.I thought that what was outside didn't matter; but it seems that flash do not ignore what is out.So, when I use the code to resize/recenter the MC; it broke as it do not center as it should.I did try to use masks but it do the same.

Within the background I have another movie clip which has the text and fades in. I was told that a dark movie clip placed over the whole site but under the external swf with alpha set to 50% would work. I need the background content to dim when the external swf is loaded and then go back to normal when exiting that page link. How can this be done thru xml or actionscript?My website is an xml flash template that loads the text and pictures for the site Thru xml file. Anyone have sample code? I am newbie to actionscript.
