Flash :: Content Causing Background Re-draw In IE & FF3?

Whenever I include flash content on a page it causes IE & FF3+ to redraw the background.This does not happen in Google Chrome, Safari, or FF2.
On every page of my site there is a small flash animation that is in a hidden div. That flash content become visible and plays on a mouse-over event. That all works fine. However, in the above mentioned browsers, that flash content causes the site's background to be redrawn on every page-load, causing a flicker. Is there any way to prevent this? A google search revealed other people having the same issue, but no resolution.
I am using Bulkloader [URL] to load in a succession of 10 images whilst the main elements of my site have already been preloaded. It is required that these images are not loaded within the preloader as they are large in size and this will increase the wait to an unacceptable level. They are not added to the display list upon succesful load but instead are added at a later time.
The problem I am having is that the menu navigation of the site is slowed down considerably and looks sluggish if the user navigates around whilst the images are being loaded in the background. Once loading stops everything is fluid and smooth. The animations are being carried out using a combination of timeline and Tweener.
Firstly, does anyone know if this is normal behaviour? I don't see why something being loaded should interfere with something moving on the screen, they are doing completely different tasks so I am a bit puzzled as to why they seem to clash.
Secondly, can anyone suggest a feasible workaround? I have been experimenting with using BulkLoader's pauseAll and resumeAll methods and have had some success by detecting mouse events and pausing/resuming as and when required, but it is proving a lot more complicated than I feel it should be, especially as I don't think loading should be affecting animation in the first place.
I have tried loading the images in one-by-one as I thought having too many connections open (apparently bulkloader can open multiple connections for faster loading) may cause some memory issue or suchlike, but that made no difference, everything is still choppy and sluggish whilst the background loader is running.
I downloaded a file for full screen re-sizable background flash. I'm new to Flash. I started to make site from there, but when I draw anything, & compile it. my drawing goes behind this background.
I have spent days trying to figure out how to what on paper sounds really simple in flash.All i want is to be able to have a full flash page with a background that stretches fluently across. and for the windows or content inside that page to stay in proportion to that.the background loads fullscreen whatever resolution or dimensions its in and the content shrinks itself to fit.How can i get this ?i have been using action scriptStage.scaleMode = "noBorder";Stage.align = "TL";

This example paints 2 arrows, the first is using the transparent background, and the second is using an opaque background on the BitmapData.
What I'm trying to achieve is to paint the pixels of the arrow completely opaque on the transparent background. But as you can see, the pixel is at 99% of its opacity (var _pixelColor:uint = 0x9998002E) How can I paint 100% opaque pixels on a transparent BitmapData "canvas"?
I'm trying to export my movie clip into an image, everything works fine but when the user draws in negative coordinates, the draw bitmap command doesn't get my movieclip as I need, here's a graphic explanation of what's going on:As you can see the user can draw in any part of my movie clip (black border), the 0,0 coordinates are in this example located in the black spot. when I get the bounds of my object I get correct values (in this case i get negative x and y and the correct width and height), but when I apply the draw bitmap command what its captured is the area represented with the red border, the height and width values are correct but it captures from the 0,0 coordinates and not from the coordinates I want! anyone? i have a dead line approaching.this is the code:

I am using the SWFObject and alternative content for a flash navigation. Unfortunately, if the viewer does have Flash installed, a white box appears before the nav appears. I am using a gif as a tiling background image for the nav, therefore the swf has a transparent background. Everything is good except for the second that the white box shows up.here's a bit of CSS and XHTML, but I have looked at this as well as the flash document, but I have been able to resolve the issue, and I'm out of ideas.
I have a project in which the client would like the contents to be centered on his browser but the background to fill the whole window... this would be simple enough if the background was a solid color... the problem I am facing is that the background has a design to it (see attached). I want to use a gradient as background for my flash movie, but I want this background to cover the whole browser's window just like Adopt Design does it (check out Adopt Design). The content of the flash movie should NOT be resizable with the browser's window though. So, I used this code:

But when I type in the address in the browser to open the page the first time, I see the flash movie in the center with white background around it anyway, and when I resize the browser's window (even if just 1pix) everything is perfect. I have some preloader (timeline-based) content and some FLV's that I want the user to see while other content is loading in the background. The preloaded content and the FLV's are very choppy while the content is loading and run fine afterward. I initially thought this might be a RAM issue, but my other apps are running fine at the same time (YouTube, etc.) so I think it's an issue within my code or Flash Player. How do the really nice preloaders (animation on timeline OR FLV's) run so smoothly while background content is loaded? For example, are they independent SWF's? internalized classes exported for Actionscript? some other option I'm not privy to? Mine, for example, are internal classes in the main library that I have exported for AS.
I recently found a great tutorial for making a scalable background image on: [URL] which has worked a treat. But my content is now positioned top left. How can I centre it without effecting the background? The full code I'm using on the first frame is below. I can centre all the content by changing Stage.align to "T", but then the background image has a nasty white space on the left hand side when the user resizes the browser.

I have gone through it all and it works great for the tutorial but I tried replacing the background with an image and when the browser is resized to full screen it distorts the image and stretches it out of proportion. Does anyone know how I can have the background image resized to the full screen and stay in proportion?

My main project is 1400*900px. My MC to handle is 1000*680px.
I load an external SWF in that MC (with addChild).This external SWF is 1000*680px too (same size than parent).I have a lot of clips in my external SWF and some of them are "out" the project zone.So when I load it in my MC; the MC is no more 1000*680 but more.I thought that what was outside didn't matter; but it seems that flash do not ignore what is out.So, when I use the code to resize/recenter the MC; it broke as it do not center as it should.I did try to use masks but it do the same.
I am trying to create a website. The main timeline has graphics, movie clip buttons and a movie clip which is the background of the content. Within the background I have another movie clip which has the text and fades in. What I am trying to do here is make the movie clip button trigger the content movie clip that its within the background movie clip. I tried everything but keeps going in loops.

dim background content after loading an external swf into main swf. I was told that a dark movie clip placed over the whole site but under the external swf with alpha set to 50% would work. I need the background content to dim when the external swf is loaded and then go back to normal when exiting that page link. How can this be done thru xml or actionscript?My website is an xml flash template that loads the text and pictures for the site Thru xml file. Anyone have sample code? I am newbie to actionscript.
I'm back to try and come to grips with AS3. I have been forced to focus on CSS and jquery. I am trying to make the background blur when you click on a link to play video or another movieclip.
I'm trying to create a layout not too different from the feed reader sample.The problem I'm having is that I'm finding the documentation unclear. There are so many different types of layouts that I don't know which one to use when.In the example, on the right side there are a few horizontal panels:
this does not include the details panel and the resize handle.I would like to swap the DataGrid with my custom content which is basically a sprite. The problem I have is that I cannot just include a sprite, because it does some funky resizing. I would like the scroll bar to appear when the content is too tall, and have have the same skin for the background as the DataGrid.
I want it so that when you click a button, it will run a multiplayer game and connect to a server, WITHOUT having any .bat or .exe files beforehand. So any new guy can rock up and connect, just as long as he has the game.
It will run the game and connect to a certain server. The problem is, how do I get Flash to do that without any premade .exes with command lines?
The only other problem I can think of is, is it possible to run the game without knowing the directory the exe is in? In other words, could Flash find the game .exe if it was just given a name?
I have an issue whereby a new font (FFF Forward variant) installed on some machines works perfectly in flash (cs5.5) but on one machine causes an instant crash when the Type Tool is used.I know the font is the core of the problem but am unsure why it works on some flash installations (same versions) and not others?

when I enable my Adobe Shockwave Object my screen will flicker when i move the mouse around the screen. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled but it didn't work.
I've got a flex-based swf, which is loading an AS 2-based swf and then, negotiating further activity via a LocalConnection. From time to time, the AS 2-swf can request that the flex-based swf load a movie. I've arranged this via on(release){} functions. The AS 2-swf, I'm making in Swish Max. In Swish, when I set the on (release) on a text field, (to invoke .send() on my localconnection), it works splendidly. However, when I attempt to perform the same calls for an on(release) attached to a movieclip, it actually causes the Flash player, and even the browser plugin to crash. In fact, the browser (IE) crashes as well. I checked the debug trace that ie asked me to send to microsoft at the last IE crash, and i noticed a StackOverflow exception embedded deep in the trace, but I couldn't determine its source.
I'm getting this weird error, don't know why, I've reduced the code to minimum and found the source of the problem but I don't understand why it errors.

Since recent versions of Flash have come out (perhaps the last few weeks), when loading up the website, [URL], the flash loading bars show, various SWF files in their layer appear, but then when loading completes, the web page goes blank (usually black, sometimes white). This occurs on Windoes 7 (64), Vista and XP. It occurs in IE9, IE8, and various Firefox browsers. So, I am comfortable believing that it is a recent Flash player issue.
The HTML page loads a file "back.swf" which in turn loads "menu_eo.swf" in level 10 and "intro_eo.swf" into level 5. What it looks like is that when the intro page finished loading and moves to the correct frame, the screen goes blank. My clients rarely update their Flash Player, but I asked them to do so this morning. They had the same problem in all those other browser and operating system after updating to Flash Player 10.3.1832.5.
My new website is carolineofbrunswick (dot) co (dot) uk. As you can see, there's a ton of blank space off to the right of the pages, and I can't figure out how to get rid of it.
It's caused by the Flash objects in the right-hand column. Changing the width attributes on those Flash objects just causes them to not appear at all, though the blank space still exists.
When my Flash website loads, it freezes halfway through the initial animation for 2-3 seconds and then continues. Am thinking it is one of the scripts in index.html and have tried all sorts of ways to correct it -[code]...
