Flash Causing Screen To Flicker While Enabled?
Sep 23, 2009when I enable my Adobe Shockwave Object my screen will flicker when i move the mouse around the screen. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled but it didn't work.

Apr 15, 2011I've noticed that an "out of the box" HDividedBox has some serious flickering issues when liveDragging is enabled, but only when the pointer is over the contents of the DividedBox while dragging. If you grab the BoxDivider and move the pointer off the component while dragging, the flicker goes away and the component renders properly.
I have tested this with both my customized component and an extremely basic HDividedBox implementation with Group, SkinnableContainer, and BoxContainer children as well as nested groups with clipping.All types of children exhibit the same behavior.

Actionscript 3 :: FP10 Causing Text To Flicker And 'bloom'?
Dec 9, 2009I have run into a small graphics glitch in Flash.It seems to be both in FP9 - Exported via Flash CS3, and FP10 Exported via the Flex 4 beta SDK.The glitch /problem manifests itself as embedded text at a small point size "blooming" under certian conditions.It basically looks like the antialiasing becomes fatter at some level of text brightness. I have made a small test case below. (Obviously) You will need to embed the Arial font in your compiled SWF for the below code to work.[code]You can see an example of the problem by rolling over the graphical element here: url..It's not really an option to change to AntiAliasType.NORMAL as it makes the text way less readable at this point size.

Jun 22, 2009We have an applicaiton using AS3 that we run in FlashPlayer 9 and 10 (swf embeded in html). The applciaiton is designed to collect information from an applicant/prospective student. When the user clicks the exit button we show a modal dialog (using the Alert class) with Yes and No.When the user confirms the exit we set display controls,application controls, data displays,campus selection,sub applications to null and unload modules and reinitialize the application before sending a comand to the web browser to reload(usinf the ExternalInterface class). Ideally this will bring the user to the welcome/login page without having any artifacts from their prior flash session.I am having issues with two dfferent things
- When the user clicks yes or no, the applicaiton delays closing the alert modal for about two seconds.
- The applicaiton flickers before reloading.

Feb 28, 2009I created my flash menu over a year ago, and need to upgrade it by adding a sub menu. I'm not very savy with flash, i usually google any actionscript that i need and guess my way through. I'm having a particularly hard time trying to figure out how to resolve the issue of my submenu flickering while the cursor is over it. I understand it's probably some problem with the layers and embedding, etc. i've attached the .fla to move things along quicker.

The thing is that when I have a video playing in background and over it I make some tweens, it flickers all the time and it is an annoying flicker. It happens only on Linux Flash Player (it works on Windows Flash Player). The flicker appears when I have a video on background, only when the tween is made and on the portion of the screen where the tween is made. I have Ubuntu 9.04 installed and the latest version of standalone Flash Player (from 2/24/09). I've tried this on several LCD and on all it does the same. My video card has the Intel G31 Express Chipset (the drivers for the video card are the one from Ubuntu).

Aug 21, 2010i'm trying to make a quick and easy personal flash website in a short period of time, and i've decided to use 'pictobrowser' [URL] software to create a slideshow gallery easily (my flash knowledge isn't great and my time is limited!). basically it pulls photo info from my flickr sets and creates a slideshow- but all it gives me is some html coding and i'm not sure how to incorporate this into the flash file so it loads every time the page loads.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Fade Flicker On Button Edges?
Oct 13, 2011I'm working on a project where I need to make a picture of a building fade darker on mouse over, while sections of the building get brighter. The sections rise up when you hover over them and will load a pdf when you click.
Everything works fine so far except that when the mouse goes over the edges of the buttons the background and the buttons fade back in and out again.
I only want them to fade out when the mouse leaves the stage.

Dec 13, 2010I have developed a rolling credits style movieclip in Flash using Actionscript 2. Text is loaded from an XML file and parsed into a dynamic textfield. This text includes hyperlinks to webpages defined by a url node in the xml so Flash can add the appropriate a href to the dynamic text field and make the link clickable.
In my first attempts to do this the textfield stayed still and all the links worked fine both testing locally and when I run it in a browser on my website.Then I wanted to make things move ... which I achieved easily enough and tested locally (from within Flash Professional) and the links remained clickable, a browser window opened and the webpage i was expecting to see opened... great
However, when I export the swf, upload it and run it from my website suddenly the links are not working. So I tried to test the movie in a browser from Flash Pro - same problem, it must be something to do with Flash Player and the moving dynamic textfield.
a couple of observations - the cursor will change to a hand icon when over the links as you would expect, and if I right click on the link and click open in a new window the link works ok, just not when I left click. If I stop the scrolling then the links become clickable again, it is only when the textfield is moving... actually its not technically scrolling, im moving the whole textfield.
Flash Button Causing Exe With Command Line
Mar 22, 2010I want it so that when you click a button, it will run a multiplayer game and connect to a server, WITHOUT having any .bat or .exe files beforehand. So any new guy can rock up and connect, just as long as he has the game.
If you run Jedi Academy multiplayer like this:
jamp +set fs_game "japlus" +connect "193.155.0.5:29070"
It will run the game and connect to a certain server. The problem is, how do I get Flash to do that without any premade .exes with command lines?
The only other problem I can think of is, is it possible to run the game without knowing the directory the exe is in? In other words, could Flash find the game .exe if it was just given a name?
Font Causing Flash Crash On One Machine Only?
Mar 21, 2012I have an issue whereby a new font (FFF Forward variant) installed on some machines works perfectly in flash (cs5.5) but on one machine causes an instant crash when the Type Tool is used.I know the font is the core of the problem but am unsure why it works on some flash installations (same versions) and not others?
I have tried every conceivable way of uninstalling/installing the font (even cmd prompt and safe mode!)I have flushed preferences files (obv inc typesupport folder)I have re-installed flash!I have even tried copying the prefs files from one of the working installations to the troublesome machine.I have run font verification and repair tools (nexus font, font creator, font val, font doctor, font lab...)No joy, still crashing
Flash :: Content Causing Background Re-draw In IE & FF3?
Jan 3, 2011Whenever I include flash content on a page it causes IE & FF3+ to redraw the background.This does not happen in Google Chrome, Safari, or FF2.
On every page of my site there is a small flash animation that is in a hidden div. That flash content become visible and plays on a mouse-over event. That all works fine. However, in the above mentioned browsers, that flash content causes the site's background to be redrawn on every page-load, causing a flicker. Is there any way to prevent this? A google search revealed other people having the same issue, but no resolution.

Flex :: Why SWF Causing Flash Player To Crash
Aug 6, 2009I've got a flex-based swf, which is loading an AS 2-based swf and then, negotiating further activity via a LocalConnection. From time to time, the AS 2-swf can request that the flex-based swf load a movie. I've arranged this via on(release){} functions. The AS 2-swf, I'm making in Swish Max. In Swish, when I set the on (release) on a text field, (to invoke .send() on my localconnection), it works splendidly. However, when I attempt to perform the same calls for an on(release) attached to a movieclip, it actually causes the Flash player, and even the browser plugin to crash. In fact, the browser (IE) crashes as well. I checked the debug trace that ie asked me to send to microsoft at the last IE crash, and i noticed a StackOverflow exception embedded deep in the trace, but I couldn't determine its source.

Professional :: New Flash Versions Causing Webpage To Appear Blank
Aug 22, 2011Since recent versions of Flash have come out (perhaps the last few weeks), when loading up the website, [URL], the flash loading bars show, various SWF files in their layer appear, but then when loading completes, the web page goes blank (usually black, sometimes white). This occurs on Windoes 7 (64), Vista and XP. It occurs in IE9, IE8, and various Firefox browsers. So, I am comfortable believing that it is a recent Flash player issue.
The HTML page loads a file "back.swf" which in turn loads "menu_eo.swf" in level 10 and "intro_eo.swf" into level 5. What it looks like is that when the intro page finished loading and moves to the correct frame, the screen goes blank. My clients rarely update their Flash Player, but I asked them to do so this morning. They had the same problem in all those other browser and operating system after updating to Flash Player 10.3.1832.5.
Flash Objects Causing Blank Space To Right Of Page?

It's caused by the Flash objects in the right-hand column. Changing the width attributes on those Flash objects just causes them to not appear at all, though the blank space still exists.

If i add other random code into the function it (the newly added code only) will work. Flash Looping Causing Variable To Add Values Constantly
Jan 15, 2011Flash keeps looping which is causing certain variables to add values constantly. E.g.

score = score + 1;

}
That will constantly add one to "score" when a certain word is typed into a text box. How do I add one to "score" without stopping the application or playing it once?
