I uses AS3 preloader embedded within HTML (standard Dreamweaver embedding). The preloader loads index.swf. I've noticed that site visitor can write down URL: [URL] and get direct access to the swf file of preloader. Hotlinking protection for swf extension (defined on server via cPanel) would resolve the problem but unfortunately [URL] must have access to swf files (otherwise flash site wonâ't start).
View 3 RepliesI have found heaps of preloaders that work on the time line of game but offer no protection.Does anyone know where I can get a sample code for this or where I can buy a preloader from so that it loads before the game and if someone tries to save the page they get the preloader instead of the SWF? flash designer I know said its possible but hasn't got time to create one. I"m new to AS3 and I would like to know how can I get to graphics of a Sprite so I could draw it directly from it. I mean I don"t want to use Sprite class as my concrete objects I just want Sprite to hold graphics so if my own object needs to be drawn it asks for graphics to SpriteManager which returns Sprite with required graphics and draws it exactly where I want to not where Sprite's coordinates points to.

View 1 RepliesI often write apps in flash where I wrap all the display elements into one parent display object container (not the stage). Let this parent container be mc_world for example. I declare this in my Document class (Main) as:

Since this container is unique and often times needs to be referenced from various classes in the project (that are not its children) I find myself often doing Main.mc_world across my project to access this container.
Is it bad practice to directly access static members of the Document class throughout my project? Are there any simple alternatives? I don't want to dispatch events every time I need to access mc_world. And using a singleton class doesn't seem all that different from the Document Class (which only has one instance right?).

I would like to protect my flash files. I would like to block any decompilers,protect actionscript and also protect graphics. Some time ago,I tried to decompile a swf and when I placed it inside a decompiler , it showed me a login form and no graphics.I believe that is the ultimate protection method.Do you have any idea what software can do that ?

One such app that I devleoped uses Flex for its charting capabilities and needs access to a 'getResults()' function in the cfc.
All of this content is behind an authentication mechanism, but since the cfc will open itself up to a wsdl request:

What techniques have people used to protect the cfc from direct access UNLESS the request is coming directly from the CFML processor OR from Flex Remoting?

Of course I receive the #1009 error : Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. I guess it is some "stage issue" but I'm not familiar enought with AS3 to avoid the problem by my own.
I have followed the tutorial on gotoandlearn that builds a preloader swf to load an external swf. The problem I am having on the main timeline is that I now cannot access a function in the final external loaded swf. This worked fine when I just loaded the external swf into the main timeline but with the preloader I think I have my loader instances confused and I don't know how to fix it.

Like I said this worked perfectly before I tried cleaning things up with intermediate preloader swf and now its all gone pete tong (again!!) When testing this by reviewing the main timeline it cannot recognise the function killStream
after my preloader i instantiate a screenHandler class which in turn instantiates a transitions class that has a public static property "exitFrames".When i try to check exitFrames from within the screenHandler class i get a 1119 error (access of a possibly undefined parameter ......) below please find the code for the screenHandler AND the code for the transitions class.the error occurs in here:

My preloader keeps displaying an error when I try and load my SWF in it.

The swf works fine but the loader doesn't work with it. I worked out that it was because I used "stage" in the eventlisteners of the SWF file but if I remove these the game keys don't work, but the loader does.

I just found the external preloader tutorial and it's Perfect, exactly what I needed! I just have one issue which I can't figure out.. It all works fine with other swf files such as the content.swf example it comes with, however when I try link it to a site I'm making (a fluid as3 layout) it states: "TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at Website()" Here is the syntax - it's just the same as on the tut but trying to load 'website.swf'..

I am quite confident i am having no issue with my preloader codes and have managed to identify why i keep getting the Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. My preloader.swf is loading a home.swf. Within this home.swf i have some codes that makes reference to the stage. EG stage.stageWidth/2 Once i deleted away this line of code there is no error. Is there anyway that i can still reference my stage in home.swf without getting Error #1009?

I'm not so much worried about protecting the FLV's or the Swf, but the cd could eventually be snagged by a rival company. is there a way to somewhat protect or encript external actionscript classes?

I have a flash application that plays .mp3 files. I use the Sound object and the .loadSound method. It is quite easy for someone to download the mp3 files from say a plugin for Firefox called DownloadHelper, or using the Safari Activity window. Is there a way to protect against this?

Anyone knows of other ways to get the same effect with php.By "manage access to" I mean that the average user would not be able to save the page and save the image with it. If they want to view the image again, they would have to revisit, re-request it. Flash streaming server offers that, but are there non-flash/adobe solutions to compare it to.

If it still fails occassionally, I would say this is the best technology has now, and I've given it to you. I don't want to be found personally negligible when I should have done my best. I am developing a elearning site and we have developed our courses in Flash. I want to know how we can prevent our courses from getting download from our site. Technology used for developing website is ASP.NET with C#.

Does anyone know of a way to protect my swf's so people can only view them online, but not download them in any way?
