ActionScript 3.0 :: Put Sliding Panel With Buttons

so i have some buttons that i want to put on a sliding panel. The panel and the buttons are on the same layer. The buttons are buttons i created. there is a seperate button, instantiated as channels, that i use to slide the panel out. I read an online example that made it seem as though if i just placed the buttons on the panel in the stage, they would just slide out with the panel. This is not the case however. here's my code

i want to make a sliding panel with 2 buttons on it. The panel pops up from the bottom of the screen when the mouse is hovering over the the bottom 25 pixels of the screen. The panel is set to disappear when the user hovers the mouse off of the panel. At first i just tried to put buttons on the panel and covert the whole thing to a symbol, but then i could not access the individual properties of the buttons. What i tried instead is to make invisible buttons over the area where the image of the buttons were on the panel. The problem is that when now when the user hovers over the button, flash reads it as the mouse leaving the panel and the panel disappears.

I'd like to make an options bar in my project that shrinks when clicked to hide away but when clicked again, opens again to reveal itself. The problem I'm having is that the panel squishes everything inside of it when it shrinks and I dont want that, instead I want everything to stay the same and just hide away.[code]...

I have created a sliding rollover panel so that a user can hover over an invisible button to reveal the panel itself. The panel itself is under a movie clip which basically motion tweens the panel to slide in and out effectively. Then there is the panel_mc inside the movie clip which contains an img. The one panel can slide out but for some reason cannot slide back, even when you rollover the button(popUp_btn)!!!! The compiler errors does not even display this error!!!

I'm trying to create a simple 2D sliding puzzle in AS 3.0, but I haven't gotten further than splitting up the image and placing it into a grid. My main issue is to figure out how each panel will detect if there's a free space near it when you click them.

I've created a sliding menu that has a left button and a right button. Each button slides a background movieclip to the left or right. The background mc eases into position when one of the buttons is clicked. Problem is that buttons can still be clicked while the mc is easing into position. This throws off my x coordinate positioning of the mc. I've tried disabling the buttons and enabling them again at a few different points in my code. I've also tried using a time delay to enable the buttons but my logic isn't working. I've stripped the code that was not working out.

I have sliding menus. They are movieclip with a rollover state on the back panel. You can view it at: [URL]
Now... the problem is that when I place submenus in this movieclip, whether it is a button or text with a link, it acts as a RollOut of the movieclip. What's up with that? I've tried the getBounds method, but it's just not smooth or fast enough.

I need some buttons, and they should slide continuously in axis X in different speed. And when I go over them with the mouse, I want, the buttons slow down, and stop. And when I go out from them, I want these buttons, to continue the sliding in X. I've already done the graphics, but in Flash CS5 I stopped.... I cant do it myself.

i have a movie clip (mc_1) inside of this movieclip i made
-one button ("start") : by its event Roll_Over the animation (of mc_1) starts
-ten menu buttons (b_1,b_2,b_3,....,b_10) : at first they're not on the stage, but they appear one by one,frames by frames, after I rolled over "start".
-one invisible button (inv_btn): placed right under the area occupied by those previous buttons..by its RollOut event i make the menu rewind so the ten buttons disappera one after one other.
now i have to put the menu buttons inside an array (cause i made a script for dynamic loading images from XML) but i receive #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. this is why i put in the array buttons that at first doesn't even exist...and when the menu closes disappear again..how can I handle the situation?

I'm making a slide menu that loads a xml file and creates buttons dynamically. Another functionality it has a sliding menu also, and I can't stop it. Heres goes the zip file, which contains .fla and .xml files. What I want to do is when I put the mouse at the top of the mask, the menu stops on the first option, and when I put the mouse at the bottom, the menu stops on the last option. Is it possible? [URL]

I just downloaded Flash CS5 for mac which installed without any errors. However, when I first launched the software I am getting the following error: The following panel layout is missing or could not be read: /users/rob/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Flash CS5.5/en_US/Configuration/Workspace/Essentials.xml The application will not have a correct layout. load one from Windows ->Workspace Once past this message none of the panels load.

When maximizing the Panel,I added Resize Effects.How to apply Resize effects on the Map when the extent of the map changing? I discovered this while doing some programmatic panel resizing:Components in a spark Panel will still be visible when their location is outside the physical Panel boundaries. This does not happen with the mx Panel.unning Flex 4.1 on Windows 7I tried putting mx and spark controls in the spark Panel, and they both appear outside of the boundaries. Note this doesn't happen with the mx Panel. What am I missing to make the spark behave like the mxSample Code:

I want to create a panel docking to a pop up panel in my flex app, like Winamp's playlist window can dock to main window. but I didn't find any useful on docking in flex
I've traced the PopUpManager, but I didn't find any available interfaces or events about popup window's moving, I think it's design shouldn't be so bad.

I have basic movie clips, On roll over, show arrows [NEXT, PREVIOUS] on movie clip [they then show other images inside movie clips]I can show arrows on roll over.But when i roll over the arrows the main ROLLOUT function gets called, the arrows hide. I've tried several flagging methods and have resulted in using a larger invisible border around the clip, rolling over that hides them.

Stuck trying to get a pretty simple thumbnail gallery to work: Basically it's just a movieclip of horizontal thumbnails (50 in total, masked so only 10 are shown at a time) with a left and right arrow on the sides, which when clicked should make the thumbs smoothly shift left or right to display the next or previous 10 thumbs (fixed at 1-10, 11-20, 21-30, 31-40, 41-50). They should smoothly ease into place, and the left and right buttons should disable when you reach the left or right limit Is there a simple way of doing this?

I am trying to make something like this : A flash movie with the dimension 400 X 400. I have made two movieclips says "Map" which is 800 X 800 and another "mask" which is 100 X 100. I have placed the "Map" movieclip on the stage on one layer and the "mask" movieclip on the other layer. I gave mask action to the map layer so now i can just view 100 X 100 area of the "Map" on the stage.
I have given the following action on the frame : startDrag("mask", true, 0, 0, 800, 800);
so that the mask will move with the movie on the stage.
Now the problem which i m facing is : I dont want to resize the movie according the window size and also i dont need scroll bars, i want to publish it in the size 400X400, so what happens is that i can just move the "mask" into this much area and as the "Map" movieclip is 800 X 800 hence i cant see the right and bottom part of "Map".
Hence now what i would like to have is that when i move the "mask" from left to right the "Map" movie clip should move below it from right to left upto its width and the right end of the stage and vice versa. In the same manner when i move the "mask" from top to bottom the "Map" movie clip should move from bottom to top upto its height and the bottom end of the stage and vice versa.

I'm working on a sliding featured gallery like Kongregate.com or Hulu.com uses on their home pages. What I have so far is here:URL...Where I am running into trouble is in the loop around/wrap around areas. My next and previous buttons tween to the next/previous item just fine. However when I get to the last/first, it gets tricky.What I have done when you get to feature #5 is check for the x position, and if I am going beyond 5, I reset it so that we pull in #1 instead. The problem is that this scrolls in #1 from the wrong direction. (Take a look at the SWF above to see what I mean).If I shoot further back in negative X direction and scroll that way, I'll end up with blank space at the start of the move. I could dupe #5 and put it there, but then I have two versions of feature #5 (and #1 for the wrap the other way) that have to be maintained. (Note these will be more than just a blank square obviously, they will each be movie clips that do things).
Possibly that is the correct way? Or am I going about this the wrong way. Would it make more sense to dynamically create, scroll and remove the clips on each button click? (I'm not sure how I would do that exactlyI suppose I could also add the buttons via actionscript too, instead of placing them in a layer and them zipping them to the top, although I'm not sure it matters much.[code]Also one other thing, I note that if the user clicks one of the buttons before the tween completes, it throws the whole thing off (since it grabs the x value when clicked) - is there a way to disable the buttons until the tween is complete?

I've done the basic sliding thumbnail bar with the rollover and clicking on the thumbnails before, but I'm trying to replicate the one on the [URL] homepage.
I wanna do exactly what they've done. I want to have the scroll bar below the slider that they user can use. And I want the thumbnails to pop forward and have info pop out for the selected person. I didn't know how to make the thumbnails readjust themselves when the popup came out. But I'm not sure how to add this into my basic slider.
