I'd like to make an options bar in my project that shrinks when clicked to hide away but when clicked again, opens again to reveal itself. The problem I'm having is that the panel squishes everything inside of it when it shrinks and I dont want that, instead I want everything to stay the same and just hide away.[code]...

When you click through the various sections, coloured bars expand and move across the site, they hold while subtly moving and then shrink out once the section has loaded.
how this sort of thing is achieved? I've been considering creating the whole thing using coloured rectangles and TweenMax but I'm wondering if this was created dynamically in AS3? Or if it's a customization of some existing transition?
so i have some buttons that i want to put on a sliding panel. The panel and the buttons are on the same layer. The buttons are buttons i created. there is a seperate button, instantiated as channels, that i use to slide the panel out. I read an online example that made it seem as though if i just placed the buttons on the panel in the stage, they would just slide out with the panel. This is not the case however. here's my code

i want to make a sliding panel with 2 buttons on it. The panel pops up from the bottom of the screen when the mouse is hovering over the the bottom 25 pixels of the screen. The panel is set to disappear when the user hovers the mouse off of the panel. At first i just tried to put buttons on the panel and covert the whole thing to a symbol, but then i could not access the individual properties of the buttons. What i tried instead is to make invisible buttons over the area where the image of the buttons were on the panel. The problem is that when now when the user hovers over the button, flash reads it as the mouse leaving the panel and the panel disappears.
View 3 RepliesI have created a sliding rollover panel so that a user can hover over an invisible button to reveal the panel itself. The panel itself is under a movie clip which basically motion tweens the panel to slide in and out effectively. Then there is the panel_mc inside the movie clip which contains an img. The one panel can slide out but for some reason cannot slide back, even when you rollover the button(popUp_btn)!!!! The compiler errors does not even display this error!!!

I'm trying to create a simple 2D sliding puzzle in AS 3.0, but I haven't gotten further than splitting up the image and placing it into a grid. My main issue is to figure out how each panel will detect if there's a free space near it when you click them.

i am guessing that the rectangular area where the content for all the 5 pages appears can be a containing movie clip, and when any of the 5 links are clicked on each of those links in the action script code for on release code will be written to display the appropriate page however how can i get that sliding effect of pushing the existing content away to the right and display the links content which would slide from the left, how to go about doing this i am guessing it would be an action script code.
I have build a gallery but its very simple. It takes images from xml file. I have attached all files in zip. First when I press next button it goes to next image but with no effect. It just displays next image. I want to incorporate a sliding effect when the image is changed to another. And second I want to use autoplay feature. As soon as swf starts the images came one by one with difference of few seconds.

I have noted this effect being used in many other sites.. And none of them seem to employ flash for making this. Please let me know whether this is just JS or whether its purely a CSS based effect, and probably a place where i can read on how to make this.

Following some tutorials, I coded for a thumbnail scroll panel that works just fine. The thumbnails are scrolling when the mouse if hovering the panel and stops scrolling when the mouse leaves the panel.
However, I'd like to create a slow down effect on the thumbnail scroll panel when the mouse cursor leaves the scroll panel (instead of immediately stop scrolling).
is there a way to change the code and create attraction effect instead of push effect?i tried but without success...!

View 1 RepliesI have 10 beads on a line, each of the beads is twenty pixels wide (total bead width = 200) and the line they are on is 400 wide so there's plenty of sliding area.. I am trying to learn a way so that you can click on any of the beads and slide it left/right along the line and it will push any beads it encounters along as well, and they all will stop once the rightmost/leftmost bead reaches the wall.
I have the actual sliding of individual beads done just fine using startdrag and a rect parameter but can't figure out how to have the sliding affect the other beads.

Heres goes the zip file, which contains .fla and .xml files. I just downloaded Flash CS5 for mac which installed without any errors. However, when I first launched the software I am getting the following error: The following panel layout is missing or could not be read: /users/rob/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Flash CS5.5/en_US/Configuration/Workspace/Essentials.xml The application will not have a correct layout. load one from Windows ->Workspace Once past this message none of the panels load.

This does not happen with the mx Panel.unning Flex 4.1 on Windows 7I tried putting mx and spark controls in the spark Panel, and they both appear outside of the boundaries. I want to create a panel docking to a pop up panel in my flex app, like Winamp's playlist window can dock to main window. but I didn't find any useful on docking in flex
I've traced the PopUpManager, but I didn't find any available interfaces or events about popup window's moving, I think it's design shouldn't be so bad.
Does anyone knows of a way to get the output panel in flash or the console panel in flex builder or flash builder, to format the "traces" with html or any thing else? for example:
trace( <b>brett</b> ); and to get that to appear in bold in the console window or the output window?
