I can create the string in flash... but how do I write it to a text file using a cgi script? the text file would include this string...I already know how to read it and split it to parse it into arrays:

I'm trying to create a simple banner ad where the mouse hovers over the button and a panel shows up over some content of the site.[URL]I have two different .swfs: the container, which is the button and a loaded swf that has the animation that comes up when the button is clicked. The button is only 183 x 40px where as the loaded swf is 183 x 160px.When the loader swf is loaded, it takes the dimensions of the button.
Is there a way to have the loader swf be its original dimensions, so when the mouse hovers over the button, the loader swf covers some of the content on the Web site?Also, how can I change the MouseEvent to load the SWF when the mouse is only over the button and not clicking?

My problem is when I add a new item in the xml file, I can't see it in the .swf file. My xml file have 37 items. I only see 24 buttons! in the .swf file and I' m stuck at this point my buttons have 26 px (_height).
I have a combobox and list component on the stage. The combobox has 3 selections. How do I get it so that each selection triggers the specific xml file to load into the list component? I can't get them to communicate to each other.

The 'recommendations' dataProvider is an ArrayCollection of String, which are generally sentences about as long as this one. By setting the variableRowHeight and wordWrap properties as shown, if a sentence is too long to fit on a single line, everything works fine- the row expands and the messages show on two lines, or occasionally three.
The space allocated for this panel within the entire canvas means if the total text size of 'recommendations' exceeds six lines, I need for the entire list scroll. This is also working just fine. The trouble is when using the mouse wheel to do the scrolling- Flex scrolls both the entire list and the single item where the mouse is hovering. Often this results in only the second half of a sentence being visible. Non-programmer friends I have asked to look at this noticed this, and tell me it as a problem. If a user does not notice the dual scrolling, and sees only a fragment of a sentence, it will be perceived as an error in the application.

just watched Lee Brimelow's how to create a scrolling panel of thumbnails. I have no questions regarding the panel, but, rather, how do I add a link to each image of the scroll; so, when the user clicks one, a popup or new page opens showing not the thumbnail he clicked, but the real size image?

View 1 RepliesI made a vertical scrolling thumbnail panel but i have a problem i can't identify. From the index.swf i load gallery.swf inside a holder movie clip (which is in index.swf) and in gallery.swf is scrolling thumnail panel. Problem is that scrolling panel works just fine if you publish gallery.swf separately from index.swf, everything works smoothly like it should but if you publish index.swf then scrolling panel loaded inside it scroll's slowly with halts and not the way it should.

I followed a tutorial at [URL]. I used this tutorial because I was interested in a continuously scrolling panel of Thumbnails instead of one that stops when you reach the end. Perhaps people know of another tutorial that accomplishes this and I can just use that one instead? While I can accomplish what he accomplishes, there was (I thought) an easy change. Instead of continuously scrolling I want the thumbnails to only scroll when the mouse is hovering over the thumbnails. You can see the current state of things at: [URL].
