I'm trying to convert Lee Brimelow's code for the scrolling panel to ActionScript 3.0, and I'm getting an error message. Quoted:

just watched Lee Brimelow's how to create a scrolling panel of thumbnails. I have no questions regarding the panel, but, rather, how do I add a link to each image of the scroll; so, when the user clicks one, a popup or new page opens showing not the thumbnail he clicked, but the real size image?

View 1 RepliesI made a vertical scrolling thumbnail panel but i have a problem i can't identify. From the index.swf i load gallery.swf inside a holder movie clip (which is in index.swf) and in gallery.swf is scrolling thumnail panel. Problem is that scrolling panel works just fine if you publish gallery.swf separately from index.swf, everything works smoothly like it should but if you publish index.swf then scrolling panel loaded inside it scroll's slowly with halts and not the way it should.

I followed a tutorial at [URL]. I used this tutorial because I was interested in a continuously scrolling panel of Thumbnails instead of one that stops when you reach the end. Perhaps people know of another tutorial that accomplishes this and I can just use that one instead? While I can accomplish what he accomplishes, there was (I thought) an easy change. Instead of continuously scrolling I want the thumbnails to only scroll when the mouse is hovering over the thumbnails. You can see the current state of things at: [URL]. And the offending AS is below. I thought I could begin by telling the scrollbar to stop if myVar was equal to false, but I don't even know how to word that.

View 1 RepliesIve used the excellent tutorial to create a scrolling thumb panel ([URL]) It works brilliantly and I have movie thumbs linking to a flash player. It all works fine, what change the scrolling. At current it scrolls up and down according to where I have set the 'line', I would like it to scroll up and down near the top and the bottom, rather than all the time (effectively creating a dead zone in the middle). I cant figure out how to change the code to get this to behave as required.

I want a panel that scrolls for ever in both directions and it also needs to be controlled via two arrow buttons not a mouse over type scroller. I would also like to animate with Tweens in action script to get a nice smooth scroll.I know some as3 but I can't work out how to make the scroller repeatedly scroll in both directions.

This has worked perfectly will the script below...However Im looking to make an alteration to this so that when you are not on "stoke" the "panel" stops moving. Its currently set to not move until you role over on to it originally, however after that when you are not on the panel it continues to move when you stroll across the rest of the page miles away from the panel.

View 1 RepliesI've got a job for an expandable MPU in AS2. When you rollOver the MPU it expands and has a rollOff button covering the whole of the expanded part. But I have also got a Close button on the expanded panel that you have to click to also retract the panel. what the code is to allow you to rollOUT of the expanded panel part but onto the Close button without it retracting before you click on it.

I want to know how to do a few things:
Like, if the player is running, the background scrolls faster. If the Player is walking, the background scrolls slower. If the player isn't Moving, the background shouldn't be moving. If the it is at the start
Or end of the level, the background should stop moving too.

However, when I first launched the software I am getting the following error: The following panel layout is missing or could not be read: /users/rob/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Flash CS5.5/en_US/Configuration/Workspace/Essentials.xml The application will not have a correct layout. load one from Windows ->Workspace Once past this message none of the panels load.

This does not happen with the mx Panel.unning Flex 4.1 on Windows 7I tried putting mx and spark controls in the spark Panel, and they both appear outside of the boundaries. I've traced the PopUpManager, but I didn't find any available interfaces or events about popup window's moving, I think it's design shouldn't be so bad.
Does anyone knows of a way to get the output panel in flash or the console panel in flex builder or flash builder, to format the "traces" with html or any thing else? for example:

I have basic movie clips, On roll over, show arrows [NEXT, PREVIOUS] on movie clip [they then show other images inside movie clips]I can show arrows on roll over.But when i roll over the arrows the main ROLLOUT function gets called, the arrows hide. I've tried several flagging methods and have resulted in using a larger invisible border around the clip, rolling over that hides them.

If I scroll by clicking with the mouse on the scroll bar and trying to scroll with the mouse wheel after that, there is a problem: The interval of the scrolling is oversized, instead of scrolling one item down (or up) the List scrolls 4 items down (or up).

This is a repost, but I've still not figured out a solution. I have a Flash movie that appears on a webpage. The Flash contains scrolling content ( scrollpane, text field, whatever).
The containing webpage is tall, and therefore also has scrollbars. My Problem: When users try to use the MouseWheel to scroll through my Flash scrolling data, the browser page scrolls as well. It's very annoying.
I would like to be able to have the MouseWheel scroll my Flash scrolling content when it's over the flash, but scroll the webpage when it's not over the Flash.
Does anybody know a way to supress wheel-based browser page-scrolling while my mouse is over a Flash movie??? Is there a way to eat/stop propagation, whatever, of the wheel event in the brwoser, either from Flash or from Javascript?
