Nov 9, 2009I'm working with SWFAddress and I have a split function but its also adding empty elements to my array which I want to remove or stop been entered in the array.
Code:
var str : String = '/home/'
var split = str.split("/");
trace("split = "+split.length);
tracer.text = split;
output : ,home,
As you can see the split is coming back with 2 empty elements in the array.The string value could change depending on what the user enters into the url for deeplinking. It could be var str : String = 'home' and this returns the correct value but if the add a slash I need to make sure that is not registered in my array as an empty value. how I could stop these empty elements from showing in the array?

Apr 7, 2010I'm trying to strip the name of a movieclip to just the number so that I can use it as a parameter in a function. The name of the movieclip is mcThumb6 and there are 8 different clips that are numbered 1 - 8. I'm trying to use the .split method to remove the mcThumb and just have the "6" remain. The movieclips all have rollover functions. The rollover event strips out the string and then will call a function using the number (based on which movieclip was rolled over). This is working except when I trace out the new value it adds a comma in front of the number -- i.e. the output looks like this: ,6 instead of just 6.Does anyone know where this comma is coming from?

Sep 17, 2009So I have a flashobject which I need to pass a formatted DateTime string to.
My code:
string date = DateTime.Now.ToString("yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss");
which outputs as: 2009-09-16 22:26:45
However when it is actually output to HTML and swfobject it renders it as:
so.addVariable("inNowDate","2009-09-16+22%3a25%3a13");
I think this is messing up a calculation that the flash object does based off the current time. Do I need to encode or decode this?

Dec 6, 2010I have to send a string from flash and I need to format it correctly. I'm going to use the restrict property too. Heres what I'm looking to achieve.
1. Remove and commas
2. If there are more than 2 characters after the period, round it the nearest number. Im guess for a minute you have to turn the string into a number then back to a string when processed.

There is an HTML file included with this form but I am not sure if I need to put that in as I have embedded this form into an SWF file so I don't think I need that code but let me know if I am wrong about this. It puts it at (0,0) of the _root! I tried "this", I tried "_parent", I tried nothing at all in front of container2. I even changed the x and y to something ridiculous. The trace returns the correct value but the clip ain't budging. Why?!

I am wondering how I can completely empty a value set in the first stylesheet with a value set in the second. The value has to be blank because if the horizontal-center value is set then any other positioning values are ignored.
