ActionScript 3.0 :: Setting Up Socket Server Error "swfs With File-system Can't Use Sockets"
Jun 4, 2009
I'm trying to play around using SmartFox Server in AS3. I've created a simple test swf that works from the Flash IDE, but when I publish and try to run the swf file I get the socket error that swfs with file-system can't use sockets. Is there a way to get a socket server going that will allow local swfs to use sockets?
I've benn trying to get a simple socket server test to work for days now and it seems I'm not getting very far.Basically I just want to send some data from flash to the php script and have it echo it out, or anything at all like that I've been working from this tutorial http[url]....I have this basic flash class which just sends a string to the server:
The server side php is the attached script (pretty much this http:[url]....So I keep the php running on my server then run the as class, what happens is after a while (presumably the 15 second script limit in as) I get this error:
Error #2044: Unhandled securityError:. text=Error #2048: Security sandbox violation: .../networking.swf cannot load data from website.com:9980.at base()
I have an application that connects to a binary socket server running on port 2234. I use the python policy file server, which I downloaded from [URL], which runs on port 843. If the client app is trying to connect to a socket I can see that the server is receivng the request for a policy file and that it sends it to the client. However, in the client, I get a security sandbox error. How is this possible? And is it possible to check whether the client really received the policy file? BTW, here is my policy file:
<?xml version="1.0"?><!DOCTYPE cross-domain-policy SYSTEM "/xml/dtds/cross-domain-policy.dtd"><cross-domain-policy><allow-access-from domain="*" to-ports="*" /></cross-domain-policy>
I found a tutorial that showed how to create a navigation system that would load external SWFs. I am trying to create an image gallery in essentially the same manner but instead of loading SWFs, I want to load external bitmap images. However, when I replace the SWFs with images, I keep getting an error message:
Code: TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert flash.display::Bitmap@3e91d2e1 to flash.display.MovieClip.at image_Loader_fla::menu_1/isLoaded()
So obviously, it is trying to convert the bitmaps to movieclips. Due to my newbiness with AS3, I'm not really sure what I need to do with my existing code to fix this issue.I've provided a sample of the gallery if anyone wouldn't mind taking a look.
P.S. In the sample I provided, you will notice that on mouse-over, an external will load. The only one that won't work is the first one (Home) as it is trying to load an external PNG.
Has anyone been able to successfully implement a service to serve the required socket policy file to FlashPlayer?I am running the Python implementation of the service provided by Adobe at
I am attempting to setup a binary socket connection between flash running on my desktop and a Rabbit RCM3800 Microcontroller providing the server on my home network, which has no file system and has a very basic http server on it. Due to limitations of the microC I cannot run Java/Perl/Python or any other server on it other than setting up a server using its own native Dynamic C language (essentially manually opening and controlling sockets in C). I am able to successfully connect to a socket on port 3333 of the server and transfer information between the server and the .swf file when it is the sandbox type "local-trusted" (while I'm debugging in Flash).
Because of this I'm fairly certain the code to setup the socket between the server and flash works fine. My problem occurs when I try to run the .swf file as "local-with-network" (such as running it after publishing on my desktop) or "remote" (accessing the .swf file when it is located on the server) and it then requires a socket policy server to host a socket policy file on the server. On my server I have code setup such that whenever a socket opens on port 843 or port 3333 (my data port) and sends a stream of raw data containing the request <policy-file-request/>, the server writes back in ASCII the below code and closes the socket.
So for some reason flash times out while waiting for the socket policy file. I have tested sending the <policy-request-file/> over telnet, and have received the above policy file. I have also sniffed using wireshark and saw that my desktop sent the policy request and received the policy file. I am guessing that Flash times out because it is waiting for some kind of terminating character that states the end of the policy file, and to that end I have tried sending. Interestingly, instead of sending the policy file I have tried sending random data from the server to flash, and flash displayed the Warning: Ignoring policy file at (URL) due to incorrect syntax. Because I don't receive this warning when I send my policy file I don't think it is formatted incorrectly.
I have also tried using the below flash code to hold the socket request open indefinitely, but it also errors after 20seconds. Code: Select allSecurity.loadPolicyFile("xmlsocket://192.168.1.59:843"); The .swf file will eventually reside on the server itself at 192.168.1.59/myProg.html. I have only tested the flash file remotely on the server a couple times, and in addition to the previous warnings/errors, I received the warning: SWF from (URL) may not connect to a socket in its own domain without a policy file.
Actionscript Socket Policy File Server Problems Has anyone been able to successfully implement a service to serve the required socket policy file to FlashPlayer?
I'm trying to get my Flash application to connect via socket to my server, so I need to set up a socket policy file server. It seems like there are various roll-your-own implementations floating around out there, but is there any kind of standard or best practice with what to use?
As an aside, it seems strange that Adobe imposes this restriction but doesn't make something readily available to support it.
I've looked through the scripts in the scripts/ directory, but haven't seen anything obvious.
I would like to be able to specify the file name to capture the stream to. At present, the capture file is always named the same as the stream, which means if I stream for a bit, stop, then restart, the originally captured file gets overwritten. I'd like to be able to incorporate something, i.e. the stream start time, into the capture file name.
what methods and parameters of the urlloader class we have to use to display images in a flash player if possible..also movie should update everytime a new image is added to a database or filethe images can either be in a file system or in a sql database (if possible)does flash comes with an object of this type or we have to create it
I got a textfile who i am reading on a serverside script and passing it as a script to my client side as3 code. The problem is that i am using characters like ä,ö,ü,ß and this isn't well displayed. I tried System.useCodePage but the compiler complains about : 1120: Access of undefined property 'System'. It doesnt matter if I tried this on the first line of the 'Action' in the first scene or in the first line of the first .as file i am loading. (btw i am only working with .as file and not in the timeline). When i am importing flash.System.* the compiler complains he dont know useCodePage.
Q1. I have 2 web servers, 1 FMS server, 1 File Server. Files when uploaded, will be stored in File Server. I need to play the file from client system, please let what configurations shall i make so that the request will be sent tot FMS from Client and From FMS to File Server and back to FMS and then to client as a stream. scenario: I want to play a video. Request will go sent from client to FMS Server, FMS server will fetch the file from File Server and Stream it to the client. Q2. In Flash PLayer, I need to play all types of videos including the videos which will require conversion to .FLV. I have to convert the vedio at the time of upload, Please let me know few conversion APIs which i will use in my system.
I'm kinda noobish when it comes to getting information from XML information sent to my flash file from the socket server. OK so for example the server sends me this:
[Code]...
I want to get the name of the user and the X and Y position! Is there a way I can get this information without a load of fuss from functions and other junk remember im kinda noobish.
var s:Socket = new Socket( "127.0.0.1", 6667 ); s.writeUTFBytes( 'WEBIRC cgipass "cgiirc" this.is.testing.com 127.0.0.1' ); s.writeUTFBytes( "NICK DaBit " );
[code]...
It works to a point, it pings out as if I never did PONG in response, but I never got the PING message which tells me I'm not listening in on the connection correctly. What do I need to do instead? Btw this is all I have, it's all on 1 frame.
Here is my Output thing:
Attemping to launch and connect to Player using URL C:Documents and SettingsDavidMy Documents est_socket.swf [SWF] C:Documents and SettingsDavidMy Documents est_socket.swf - 3088 bytes after decompression :127.0.0.1 NOTICE AUTH :*** Looking up your hostname...
I have some software developed where I have setup good communcation between some VB software and flash software. Communication is done locally via socket connection. I was hoping I could do the same except with two swfs. Who acts as the host? do I need a host?
i'm trying to develop a multiplayer game in AS3, but i don't know how to use the sockets, how to set up my server, actually i don't know how to start, i want to build a peer to peer game, which will have a "room" to find players, it will be a cars game, i already have all the rest of the game, i just need to be able to make it multiplayer
I am working on the web base flash application I am trying to communicate with server through binary socket to the server through IP Address and Port using Action script 3.0 at the server side we are using java. I will like to send binary data string to the server in a clubbed single packet. I dont know the Action Script 3.0 as much.for this We will have to communicate through IP and Port only
I have made a menu bar and linked each separate swf file to the corresponding button. Upon testing my main movie, all the text on the main page is disappearing, the new swf file is not loading and the message 1120 error appears for all my buttons. I have checked the instance names and they match along with publish settings and folder settings. I cant understand why its not working
I want to open a connection back to the server using Flex so I can stream chat messages to the Flex front-end. How do I do this and does Flex enforce any same-origin restrictions on ports or subdomains?
So I'm making a simple counter to be used to keep a tally of 10 different categories, plus a total tally of all 10 categories combined. there are 10 buttons and 11 dynamic text fields. When each button is clicked, it will add to the text field that relates to it, plus add to the "total score" tally. I've got all of the buttons working correctly as of now.
However, I would like to set a limit on the total tally at 100 and am unsure how to do so right now.
I also have not been able to program a reset button correctly. I can make the text boxes revert back to 0, but it seems flash is still keeping the total tally because when I start counting again, the scores start where they left off.
I have written an ActionScript 3 class that is a Server Socket and accepts connections.I want to write a client in order to send data to the server. The client will be a mobile browser. I think that i will use javascript. Is it possible to connect to the server from mobile environment?
I'm working on a website, where in I've swf's embedded into the pages, and now I wanna know Is there any ways to avoid Swf's being downloading to the client system?
I'm trying to build a simple as3 server/client app. When the client has connected to the server, it should send a message like "1" to the server. The server does the following:
I'm creating a Flash IRC client for a project, and it works fine locally. However, when I place the SWF on a server it returns the #2048 error. I've tried to load in a policy file with no luck.
I am making my very first AS3 game, and though it's quite simple I'm having trouble setting up a scoring system. The concept of the game is simple. Objects appear on the screen, clicking the objects adds points. For this project I am working with 3 AS files, a Document class and two movieclip class files. I would also like to track how many objects have been added to the stage in addition to the score which should track how many objects have been clicked. Here is my Doc Class
it doesn't matter which operating system we install an our server. What are your experience with Linux and Windows?Which System do you recommend regarding performance issues?
So i am playing around with some exmaples that come with the tuio as3 library and i am getting an error on launch that i have never encountered before and don't know how to fix.it compiles with no errors however on launch i get this output:ioErrorHandler: [IOErrorEvent type="ioError" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventPhase=2 text="Error #2031: Socket Error. URL: 127.0.0.1"]
