ActionScript 3 :: Flex - How To Access Object Declarations
Apr 4, 2012
I would like to iterate through an object's validators. Validators must be declared in a declarations tag. How does one scroll through declarations? If one cannot, is there a better of locating all validators other than scrolling through all properties of an object?
Is it possible to access a declared component as an IFactory within an MXML class? I've used this style of declaring factories many times for Skin Parts, but I've never figured out how to access those factories from within the MXML.
I'm trying to migrate a Flex 4 project backwards to Flex 3, and I need to move stuff mapped in a <fx:Declarations> block in MXML. Does Flex 3 have something similar to this? It's been a while since I've done Flex 3.
I'm getting the "Component declarations are not allowed here error" where I've got my RadioButtonGroup. Below is the custom component. Why can't I put a RadioButtonGroup in it?
It's too complicate to explain but I'll give you an example
I have an AS3 ResultEvent Object and this object has several propeties which can be accessed by this like:event.result.name or event.result.age and, I have this String variable: eventProperty:String that contains "name" or "age" How do I access to event.result. with the variable?
I am developing an application with Flex for the GUI and Restlet for the webservices. I have a strange problem. I put my XML as a property on a generic object, and send it as part of a POST request. But in the Restlet webservice, this XML is irretrievable. How do I retrieve it? I tried initialising the received Representation object to a DomRepresentation, but thats not working. If I put the received Representation object into a Form object, then getFirstValue is returning that XML as a string! I noticed that the contentType of the HTTPService was application/www-form-encoded so I set it to application/xml and its not helping either. I use restlet 2.0m6 and here is the code snippet that I use -
class Foo { [Bindable] public var property: String; }
The class Foo has an implicit event dispatcher to handle property change events. How can I access that without making Foo explicitly extend EventDispatcher?
I have two swf, one loads the other using a Loader class, in the loaded swf I have a NetConnection object which I need to access from the host swf, but I can't, if I debug the app, I see the obejct is there, but I can't access it, if I try to set a variable likeloadedSWF = connectorLoader.content (connectorLoader is the Loader object)loadedSWF is always nullIf I debig the app, I see the NetConnection in the loaded SWF, but I can't have access to it, I have try to use Security.allowDomain("*") in both swf to be sure, but nothing, I thought that only doing the allowDomain method I will have access to the loaded SWF objects
I am still very new to Actionscript and have an okay working knowledge of Flex. I am working on an AIR application that runs a SQLite database underneath. The database is only 3 tables (projects, items and types). I was wondering if Actionscript best practices are to use a data access object or layer to store all of my database functions or to just run them inline as needed. I would assume an access layer would be best for interacting with the database for usability, but I can't seem to find much documentation for SQLite in AIR.
since updating my Flash Player plugin from 10 to 10.1, I'm seeing a weird crash when accessing shared objects. Flex Builder's debugger pops up and prints a stack trace like this:
undefined at flash.net::SharedObject$/getLocal() at my.code::MyClass$/load()[/my/path/to/my/MyClass.as:27] (...)
This happens when calling SharedObject.getLocal("someString") for the second time for the same string, though it doesn't always crash. When using another browser on the same machine (not configured as the preferred debugging browser in Flex Builder), Flash Player remains silent. The code is wrapped in a try/catch(Error) block which does not catch this error. I'm using Flex SDK 3.5 and Flex Builder 3 on Mac OS X 10.6.3.
I try to do preloder in Flex for my project written in Flash. I make this with the help of this site link text My Flash project have next source in main class called Game
stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, keyDown); stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_UP, keyUp); private function keyDown(event:KeyboardEvent) {
[Code]....
Flex application work but Flash application does not react to button presses
how I can make preloader and work buttons together
I have extended an mxml component with an actionscript class. I'm trying to access a component in the mxml file using the id (in order to add an event listener) but I cant seem to do it.
I get:
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference have a mxml file that has actionscript inside of it, I'm trying to call a function in a button outside of this actionscript in the same mxml file. I'm calling the public function cancel(); like this click="cancel();" but i'm getting an error 1009 that I can't access a property or method of a null object reference
I have a flex application which use DragManager.When I'm loading this application into flash application and trying to use drag'n'drop functions - I get an error:
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at mx.managers::CursorManagerImpl/showCurrentCursor() at mx.managers::CursorManagerImpl/setCursor() at mx.managers.dragClasses::DragProxy/showFeedback() at mx.managers.dragClasses::DragProxy/mouseMoveHandler()
But, when I simply run a flex application (not loding it into a flash one) everything works properly.
The "Programming Adobe ActionScript 3.0" states in chapter 4 "ActionScript Language and Syntax", "Packages and Namespaces", "Creating Packages" that you can declare at the top level of a package multiple variables, functions, and namespaces in addition to a single class as long as only one is declared "public".However, in Flash when I declare a public class and any other variable or function either with the "internal" attribute or no attribute, I get this error:5006: An ActionScript file can not have more than one externally visible definition: test.function1, test.Test
The package code is as follows: package test{ internal function function1():String return "Function1()"; public class Test }}
var printImage1:MovieClip = new PrintImage1();var printImage2:MovieClip = new PrintImage2();var printImage3:MovieClip = new PrintImage3();var printImage4:MovieClip = new PrintImage4();var printImage5:MovieClip = new PrintImage5();var printImage6:MovieClip = new PrintImage6();
I tried everything I could think of but it still gives me compiling errors.
Is there any difference in performance, or instantiation speed, between the two? Will anything be different in the instantiation of the MyClass object?
public class MyClass { private var _myObject:SomeClass = new SomeClass();
I have some in-file actionscript 3.0 code. This code controls a number of elements on it's stage. These elements each have an Over, an Out, and a Click event.
I have called this flash code in Flex using SWF loader . I got the following Error. Here I have attached flash coding for header_text_fla Kindly do the needful.
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at header_text_fla::MainTimeline/loaderComplete() var myEvent:Event; var myParams:LoaderInfo;
I have two Gallery classes (in two separate folders) that extend GalleryMaster (which resides in the folder above them). How do I specify this in the import ... declaration?Are the import declarations paths relative to the swf that you load?
While coding, I wondered if a plugin exists that I could highlight a series of variable declarations, hit some special keyboard shortcut and BAM! They would appear in alphabetical order.Is there anything that does this in Flash Builder? Or FlashDevelop even?So it would go from this:
private var _value:Number; private var _helloWorld:String; private var _foobar:Boolean;
To this:
private var _foobar:Boolean; private var _helloWorld:String; private var _value:Number;
I'm new to flex and actionscript. I'm trying to create a small flex app that has multiple states, but if I have nested containers, it looks like some of the objects are not getting initialized when I expected them to be, even when I have the creationPolicy set to "all."I've reduced the issue to a small example, with a commented block showing when it does work.sing the existing code, I get this error: "TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference at main/init()" and the event handlers are not installed.If I instead use the commented block, which has the Panel and VBox elements removed, it does work.I know I could add a click attribute to the mxml elements, but this is just a simplified example, and I'm more interested knowing why the objects are not initialized when the app loads.
I run my code, it will give me a "Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference" error. I double checked, I realized when the program run until the component file up to the accessing dataGridData variable, that dataGridData variable is null at that time. That is probably flex initiate the component file before it send or get the xml data from server in main. Which cause the variable is still null at the mean time.
I'm getting 1009 errors on the second line. I've been looking at this for a while and can't figure out what it can't find. The OnAssetsLoaded function is there.
