The file I'm trying to load is called PhotoViewer.swf... But that file physically has nothing on the stage all it has is in the publish settings, at the action script settings in document class it says PhotoViewer, a .as file which I have... Its like a gallery and it uses an XML file... I want to be able to switch back and forth between 2 "Photoviewers" loaded by the buttons, only displaying one at a time. So I wonder if this affects the loading of the SWF or my code is just bad...[code]...
I have a drop down menu whereby the clicking of a button causes it to move to a specific keyframe in the timeline. I also have multiple buttons which load external swf files.The problem is when i navigate to the drop down menu the loaded external files keep dissapering because they are not on the keyframe where the drop down menu is actuated. Is there any way of coding it so that which ever swf file is loaded remains there whilst the drop down menu moves to its specific stage in the timeline?

What I would like to know is how to load these external .swfs in succession, either forward or backwards, with forward and back buttons, as well as keeping the specific buttons in effectI guess it would be kinda like the way you search through the forums. You can either click the number that corresponds to the next page, like "2" for example, or you can click the forward button that looks like ">". Same for the back situation. So it would look something like this: "<12345>". You could either click the ">" button to move all the way to 5, or click each number separately

I am using my favorite map zooming and panning tools supplied by Senocular which can be found here: [URL] For the panning/zooming/drawBox tool to work the map features must be buried deep within several movieclips. There is one level at which you can put buttons that aren't effected by the code for the panning/zooming etc. Buttons have to go on this level or higher if you want them to work.
The way my atlas is set up - there is a main interface that has these tools plus the menu system. The menu (xml; created by Lost and Sen - brilliant) loads in two external swfs - one is the map itself and the other is a set of "controls" for that particular map (radio buttons, check boxes, text links, etc.).
Okay so here is my problem. I have a couple of external swfs that have buttons on them that do things when you roll over and off them. If I have these buttons sitting on the map then when it gets loaded into the main interface they no longer work. So I am trying to use attachMovie to attach them to an MC within the zooming tools in the main interface at a level they can be active (oh god I hope that makes sense). But it's not working.
I am guessing it's because the code to attach them is being fired before the external can be loaded into the interface. So I'm not really sure where to fire the attachMovie code. Does it go with the external? Does it go with the controls for the external?
So I want to make some movie clips function as buttons to load some external swfs. I have this action script on the mc's:

I have a problem with buttons and transitions.I have two buttons onstage (they're inside a movie clip) inside the movie, on the button one I have the following code:

My problem is this, I need to load in external swf files into an empty movie clip on the main stage called container. These External SWF files have transitions and this is where my problem is. If I place a normal button on the stage it works but not if the button is inside a movie clip and has actions applied as above. The code next is what I have believe should also be placed on the button to make swf transition one load in.

Obviously a similar code would be placed on button two so the transitions could take place.I am uploading my file so you can see exactly what I am talking about. if you open up the TEST.swf you can see how I want my transition to look like.. everything works perfectly.. then if you open the Load.swf and click one of those red buttons.. it loads up the external swf.. but if you click another button it loads up the same external thing.the difference between Load.swf and TEST.swf is that in Load.swf is container in which the TEST.swf is loaded..

my problem is that i want to do the same thing on the external movies that are loaded so to be able to load new external movies on top of them. it does not work and i know its because of the _root script that gets messed up when a new movie is loaded. it has to become _parent or smthing but i can't seem to be able to make it work..
I am loading swfs into a movie clip. However, the contact button is not a loaded swf any longer. It's in the main flash page. This is what I want to do. All the buttons load the external swfs except when I click on the contact button that is in the main flash page. I need to get the other buttons to load after I click the contact flash button. Below is the code for the contact button and the one under for one of the other buttons.

I spent almost a week trying to figure out how to unload a currently loaded swf using its button and loading a new swf... I have three files, a main.fla, file1.fla and file2.fla. In my main.fla, I have a code which loads the other two files. If i will click the "unload" button in the file1.swf, I would like the main.fla to unload the file1.swf and load the other file, file2.swf. Here is the code to load the file1.swf:

Structure: There is 1 main file that loads external SWF files depending on what is clicked on.One of the external SWF files loads its text from external text files. This works fine when viewing the SWF applet on its own. But when viewing as a whole site, the text doesnt appear. Very annoying.I made that particular SWF on my mums computer running Flash MX 2004The flash file itself uses the Scrollbar component from MX.Could someone tell me why the text doesnt load in this scenario? I am trying to get a nav button in one movie (main_nav.swf) to target a my main movie (index.swf) and load a sub nav movie (metals_subnav_infinite.swf) into it. The sub nav movie will do a similar task - loading a portfolio swf into main movie (index.swf). I want to have an external swf that only contains library objects that are exported for Actionscript, and load these from the master .swf file dynamically during the master swf execution. When i try to load an external swf file using Loader.Load(); The swf starts playing even before the init event is fired. Is there any way to stop the swf from playing atleast until the init event or complete event is fired?
View 1 RepliesI'm loading (and unloading) external swfs into a holder in my main document. However, they seem to load perfectly the first time, but after that, they load at a different x and y. I've seen this happen before in someone else's file, but I'm not sure what the solution is.

Okay so I am trying to load external swfs which load videos dynamically.
I can load the swfs into the parent fla fine (if I remove all the code and just place a circle or something on the stage of the swf), and the swfs are also loading their respective videos correctly. But when I try to load the external swfs, if they contain any casting related code in them, I'm getting an error

Is there some specific method to casting within external swfs?

this works right on its own but when using addchild in main.swf the menu loads the button events work, even click but it will not load the associated file. If i place the menu code in the main.swf it loads all required files. QUESTION How do reference menu.swf when loaded as an external swf?
I have a "about.swf" file that loads a CSS file and formats some dynamic HTML text. On its own, it works fine...but when it gets loaded into my "Main.swf", it doesn't work. What am I doing wrong? Is there a bug that doesn't let you load CSS with external .swf's?My style sheet and index file holding the "Main.swf" are all on the root level of my site. The "Main.swf" has a "holder_mc" clip that I load the "about.swf" into which has the CSS formatting. When loaded into "Main.swf", it doesn't work.

I come from a basic knowledge of AS2 and it was easy for me to load using levels but I have run into a wall. I have a main swf and to keep the initial filesize small I would like to split some image intensive sections out and load them when needed.
