View 2 RepliesI'm trying to have an external loaded swf unload when other buttons on the main swf are clicked. i finally managed to get an external swf to load with a button using AS3, now I just can't figure out how to get it to go away when the other buttons on the main swf are clicked. Im once again stuck on actionscript 3.0. I am currently trying to load an external swf into my current swf by using a button. This works perfectly.I then made a button to unload my swf. This works too.

Looking at this gave me a new idea, which I have seen being done in Actionscript 2.0.Instead of having a close button inside my current swf file, I would like to have the close button INSIDE "Extswf.swf". This would allow me to make the swf exactly what my original idea wanted it to be.

The file I'm trying to load is called PhotoViewer.swf... But that file physically has nothing on the stage all it has is in the publish settings, at the action script settings in document class it says PhotoViewer, a .as file which I have... Its like a gallery and it uses an XML file... I want to be able to switch back and forth between 2 "Photoviewers" loaded by the buttons, only displaying one at a time. I have a drop down menu whereby the clicking of a button causes it to move to a specific keyframe in the timeline. I also have multiple buttons which load external swf files.The problem is when i navigate to the drop down menu the loaded external files keep dissapering because they are not on the keyframe where the drop down menu is actuated. Is there any way of coding it so that which ever swf file is loaded remains there whilst the drop down menu moves to its specific stage in the timeline?

What I would like to know is how to load these external .swfs in succession, either forward or backwards, with forward and back buttons, as well as keeping the specific buttons in effectI guess it would be kinda like the way you search through the forums. I am using my favorite map zooming and panning tools supplied by Senocular which can be found here: [URL] For the panning/zooming/drawBox tool to work the map features must be buried deep within several movieclips. There is one level at which you can put buttons that aren't effected by the code for the panning/zooming etc. Buttons have to go on this level or higher if you want them to work.
The way my atlas is set up - there is a main interface that has these tools plus the menu system. The menu (xml; created by Lost and Sen - brilliant) loads in two external swfs - one is the map itself and the other is a set of "controls" for that particular map (radio buttons, check boxes, text links, etc.).
Okay so here is my problem. I have a couple of external swfs that have buttons on them that do things when you roll over and off them. If I have these buttons sitting on the map then when it gets loaded into the main interface they no longer work. So I am trying to use attachMovie to attach them to an MC within the zooming tools in the main interface at a level they can be active (oh god I hope that makes sense). But it's not working.
I am guessing it's because the code to attach them is being fired before the external can be loaded into the interface. So I'm not really sure where to fire the attachMovie code. Does it go with the external? Does it go with the controls for the external?
I am loading eight external swfs by way of eight buttons with actionscript to remove the swfs and sound after a new button is clicked. This works fine except that as soon as you get to the frame where the actionscript is all the swfs load at one time on top of each other. I don't want any to load until the button is clicked for the right one. MouseEvent listener works but only after all the swfs have loaded. How do I get the swfs to load only when the buttons are clicked. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

My problem is this, I need to load in external swf files into an empty movie clip on the main stage called container. These External SWF files have transitions and this is where my problem is. If I place a normal button on the stage it works but not if the button is inside a movie clip and has actions applied as above. The code next is what I have believe should also be placed on the button to make swf transition one load in.

if you open up the TEST.swf you can see how I want my transition to look like.. everything works perfectly.. then if you open the Load.swf and click one of those red buttons.. it loads up the external swf.. but if you click another button it loads up the same external thing.the difference between Load.swf and TEST.swf is that in Load.swf is container in which the TEST.swf is loaded..

my problem is that i want to do the same thing on the external movies that are loaded so to be able to load new external movies on top of them. it does not work and i know its because of the _root script that gets messed up when a new movie is loaded. it has to become _parent or smthing but i can't seem to be able to make it work..

I am loading swfs into a movie clip. However, the contact button is not a loaded swf any longer. It's in the main flash page. This is what I want to do. All the buttons load the external swfs except when I click on the contact button that is in the main flash page. I need to get the other buttons to load after I click the contact flash button. I can't seem to remove / unload the external swf files e.g when the carousel.swf (portfolio) is displayed and I press the about button the about content is overlapping the carousel (portfolio) . How can I remove / unload an external swf file from the main flash file and load a new swf file, while at the same time removing garbage collection from memory?

View 4 RepliesI spent almost a week trying to figure out how to unload a currently loaded swf using its button and loading a new swf... I have three files, a main.fla, file1.fla and file2.fla. In my main.fla, I have a code which loads the other two files. If i will click the "unload" button in the file1.swf, I would like the main.fla to unload the file1.swf and load the other file, file2.swf. Here is the code to load the file1.swf:
