Data Integration :: Turning An XML Generated Thumbnail Into A Button That Launches A Pdf?

I've used the XML connector to use an xml file to populate amenu>submenu> thumbnail image flash application. Everythingworks except that I'd like the last step to be that the user clickson the dynamically generated thumbnail image to open acorresponding pdf. I'm using the Loader component to generate thethumbnail. Essentially, I want to turn that image into a buttonthat launches a pdf.

My company has a database-driven system of web forms, each ofwhich consists of many questions in various layouts (2-columnradio, 1 column checkbox, etc). Flex might reduce the code for placing elements, by usingMXML to describe the form structure as well as visual arrangement.I haven't used this yet, and I'm wary of Flex 2 simply because itrequires Flash Player 9 which is only at 50% browser penetration

I created an multilanguage application with the "strings "panel. My customer need to put some words in italic inside the dynamic textfield. So I used <i> tag or cdata tag insied the xml, but nothing works, even if I put the textfield in "html" format. So How can I do. Do we need to change the "locale.as" class?

I am trying to create a dynamic menu for a video player. Much like the one found here (MTV OverDrive. )Obviouslythis is a Flash site and I can only assume the video list is being generated via XML. I am trying to accomplish the same thing, only I am not using FCS.
I just want to create the buttons dynamically with thumbnail images and text via XML, and in turn load the video based on a button click. I have the video part working fine, using a video object, I just need to know how to create the buttons WITH THUMBS from an XML file. I can figure out how to load the video once the button is clicked. The problem is the menu itself and loading the different thumbnail with the button.I am sure it has something to do with "attachMovie,DuplicateMovie, or CreateEmptyMovieClip" but I am not sure how to do this with XML.

I'm developing an XML thumbnail photo gallery and haveeverything working out correctly except for the grouping of mythumbnails on the stage. I can only display 9 thumbnail images at atime, and if I have more than 9 in my XML data file I have aproblem. What would be the best way to group my thumbnails in setsof 9? How can I set a limit to the display of these thumbnails ifsay, I have 20 thumbnail images? I was thinking of grouping theinformation into arrays, but is this the only feasible way to go

I have a function that generates a series of mcs from XML. These mcs contain buttons. I need to pass the ID of the movie that the button is attached to into the button events, but I can't figure it out. See the code below. How do I pass something into the button event? Or do I need to rethink?

I have a Flash website with a web form that I cannot get the submit button to work. I was able to create a button for reset to work, which I will post that action after the one for my form. I have an instance of web form (which I placed onto my contacts page) created with onsetfocus code and this is the parent form t1_2 and this is the code I have assigned to this form.

I have a video player that is currently using XML for its video library which is all fine and dandy. Now I have some developers working on a CMS type page in PHP that is going to hopefully pass some sort of information to my player that will let it know where the video is stored on our server. Is there a way to do this without using FMS? If so does anyone have ideas where I can find the information for it.

i have a dynamic text field which is filled by a list of attributes pulled from an external xml file... this is working fine... i would like to now turn each of these text attributes into a 'button', essentially giving them all event listeners but have no idea where to start for this...? can you turn text field data into interactive objects? or is there a better way to turn xml data into links?

I'd like to create one empty Flash movie that is essentially a placeholder for externally loaded content I can change through XML. This content would just be able to randomly load 1 of 3 photos, with a button linking to a website within each of the photos on page load. If the user refreshes the page, a new photo with it's link would appear, but I understand since it's random,having 3 images the same image is likely to reappear, but I can always add additional photos and links.
Does anyone know of a tutorial that might lead me on the correct path to create this? I've found some tuts, but they've been different than my need.

We want to be able to upload over 100+ files (if needed) to a server along with desc + keywords. I see that Flash 8 has the neccessary tools to handle file uploading, but my question is, can we have it act as a Stand alone FTP program so that we can utilize the fastest user upload, or will we be confined to the settings in the server INI settings.IE MAX_UPLOAD_TIME,MAX_FILESIZE, etc. If possible we want to avoid using the HTTP upload as it is noticeably slower. So if we can use flash to utilize user BW to upload, then that would be ideal.

I'm building a survey in flash and I have multiple movie clips that cover the entire work area and are layered on top of each other, cycling through them (page to page) by tweening alpha on/off. I'm pretty happy with the way it looks except for the fact the buttons. While I can not see them, my cursor still turns into a hand if I happen to scroll over them.I've tried using, useHandCursor = false; and buttonMode = false; without any luck. Can anyone tell me how these commands work or can you tell me how you cycle multiple pages in the same flash file?

The problem is when I publish it, the SWF version works fine on the Mac, and the PC EXE version runs fine on a PC, but the Mac Projector doe not. When I double-click the icon, it opens the Flash player (red square with the "f" in it) showing the name of my Projector in the dock, but nothing happens.It is not hung, I can go through the menu items at the top of the screen for the flash player, it just isn't loading the project for some reason.

I got a music portfolio web site running PHP, MySQL and Flash. There's a page showing all the artists my client worked for and when you click on a song title, this title is passed as a variable to a PHP page then to a Flash page. The Flash page contains an actionscript music player which then looks for the right audio file in the database and plays the song. Everything works great except for the dynamic text field which displays the song title. If the song title contains an apostrophe or a single quote, the Flash dynamic text field then shows the apostrophe.[code]

Im trying to use dynamic SQL tables on my PHP server so I need to pass the table name to the PHP script. I don't understand why the Data Management system that sets up CRUD won't allow this extra parameter. It says it can only have one input: item. I can get all records, but when I try to create, update, or delete I get an error.
Or is there another way I can pass the tablename variable to the php file before I call any functions?

Im new to placing external data into Flash. I just got CS3 and Im trying to use Flash to dynamically load XML data via a FlashVars call in the HTML.
The problem is I have followed the very straight forward AS2 Help files for using FlashVars and URL variables.I have placed the code directly from the Help file into the Html between

I'm trying to read some data in from a sql source, some of which contains double quotes embedded in the text. I know I can strip the doublequotes, but don't want to go that route if I can avoid it. I've tried replacing to double quotes with hex codes before passing the text via parameter to my flash file, but the text string always cuts off at the hex code, the same as if the double quote were present in the string. I will be creating a program to use for data entry. I'll be studying zebras in kenya and I won't have the internet there as I'm recording the data. I'm creating a small app to run from CD-Rom/local installation that will use multiple shared objects for data storage. To ensure proper saving without surprising the user with a permissions dialog unexpectedly, I'd like to request unlimited data storage on first time app launch - Joey Lott shows how to do this in the Actionscript Cookbook... request=mySO.flush(1024 * 500);
My question is,Can I perform this permissions request with the user a single time with a generic app SO in global fashion, so that the permissions would be set for any SOs created during the use of the product (all written to same SO directory),or do I have to request
permissions for each and every SO created? Since the latter would be unacceptable from a UE standpoint, that means stuffing all app data into a single SO which doesn't seem so great from a data config perspective...
