I created an multilanguage application with the "strings "panel. My customer need to put some words in italic inside the dynamic textfield. So I used <i> tag or cdata tag insied the xml, but nothing works, even if I put the textfield in "html" format. So How can I do. Do we need to change the "locale.as" class?

The forms are never hard-coded.Each HTTP request causes Java code to perform DB queries todynamically generate the various questions and answers.Thosequestions are then rendered through JSP and Struts tiles into HTML.The HTML also contains JavaScript functions to hide/showconditional questions on the web page based on answers to earlierquestions. Now we're trying to figure out the best way to adapt thissystem to use a Flash front-end instead of HTML/JavaScript.My preliminary research suggests at least two possibleapproaches:
1. A pre-compiled SWF could send a request with certainparameters, and the server could respond with an XML description ofthe form to build. Then the SWF could parse that XML andynamically generate the form using attachMovie for each formelement (with a lot of math to determine relative positions ofelements with variable sizes, like text labels). 2. Flex might reduce the code for placing elements, by usingMXML to describe the form structure as well as visual arrangement.I haven't used this yet, and I'm wary of Flex 2 simply because itrequires Flash Player 9 which is only at 50% browser penetration
I trying to load indivual strings of text from an external file. example: I have a movie that navigates from frame to frame. on each frame I'd like a line of text to load into the movie. When the user navigates to the next frame the text loaded vanishes and is replaced by another line of text. This can be done with separate txt files, right but I was wondering if and how it could be done using one external text file.

Everythingworks except that I'd like the last step to be that the user clickson the dynamically generated thumbnail image to open acorresponding pdf. The problem is I have followed the very straight forward AS2 Help files for using FlashVars and URL variables.I have placed the code directly from the Help file into the Html between

However, I need to get the XML data into a (JSP) session and can't neccesarily have an external XML file--any suggestions? Can I put the XML string into a hidden input field in a form on the HTML? Can Flash communicate with that HTML? Or are one of the below methods recommended:

View 1 RepliesI've developed a small Flash [8] slideshow of ten 4x6 jpgs,optimized it, published it, and inserted it into a Dreamweaver [8]basic XHTML-compliant page, saved the page and previewed it in a variety of browsers. It works perfectly.Then I FTP'd it along with other files and photos for the site. and tested it out on the same browsers: everything EXCEPT the slideshow now works perfectly; there's not a trace of the ss.What am I doing wrong? I've retraced all of my steps several times -- I even re-FTP'd it -- all with the same result.

View 2 RepliesUsing LoadVars.send() I insert info into a mysql database.I then click a button and the updated db content is shown in a textfield. Problem is that a HTML file is auto-opened in the browser.
When using LoadVars.sendAndLoad() I can still insert info into the database, but I can NOT update the info in the textfield. For some reason the "old" db content is loaded again.Flash and PHP files are in same folder on server.

not to bad, so now your html is loading the swf with the url variable. the problem is this data is hard coded into the html.now for the question. how do i get the html to pass the url variable it receives onto the flash?

I see the HTML code for setting this up (available from my host), but do not know how to get it to work in my Flash site. Now I have some developers working on a CMS type page in PHP that is going to hopefully pass some sort of information to my player that will let it know where the video is stored on our server. Is there a way to do this without using FMS? If so does anyone have ideas where I can find the information for it.
View 2 RepliesI'd like to create one empty Flash movie that is essentially a placeholder for externally loaded content I can change through XML. This content would just be able to randomly load 1 of 3 photos, with a button linking to a website within each of the photos on page load. If the user refreshes the page, a new photo with it's link would appear, but I understand since it's random,having 3 images the same image is likely to reappear, but I can always add additional photos and links.
Does anyone know of a tutorial that might lead me on the correct path to create this? I've found some tuts, but they've been different than my need.
We want to be able to upload over 100+ files (if needed) to a server along with desc + keywords. I see that Flash 8 has the neccessary tools to handle file uploading, but my question is, can we have it act as a Stand alone FTP program so that we can utilize the fastest user upload, or will we be confined to the settings in the server INI settings.IE MAX_UPLOAD_TIME,MAX_FILESIZE, etc. If possible we want to avoid using the HTTP upload as it is noticeably slower. So if we can use flash to utilize user BW to upload, then that would be ideal.

There's a page showing all the artists my client worked for and when you click on a song title, this title is passed as a variable to a PHP page then to a Flash page. The Flash page contains an actionscript music player which then looks for the right audio file in the database and plays the song. Everything works great except for the dynamic text field which displays the song title. If the song title contains an apostrophe or a single quote, the Flash dynamic text field then shows the apostrophe.[code]

I don't understand why the Data Management system that sets up CRUD won't allow this extra parameter. It says it can only have one input: item. I can get all records, but when I try to create, update, or delete I get an error.
Or is there another way I can pass the tablename variable to the php file before I call any functions?

I know I can strip the doublequotes, but don't want to go that route if I can avoid it. I've tried replacing to double quotes with hex codes before passing the text via parameter to my flash file, but the text string always cuts off at the hex code, the same as if the double quote were present in the string.
