when iam trying to publish an flash project containing a dynamic xml menu as html file ,the menu is not showing although it is showing in the accompannying swf file,any body knows the problem??

I am not sure what to do because everything is working fine when I have my .fla open and press ctrl enter to view my work.

Im new to placing external data into Flash. I just got CS3 and Im trying to use Flash to dynamically load XML data via a FlashVars call in the HTML.
The problem is I have followed the very straight forward AS2 Help files for using FlashVars and URL variables.I have placed the code directly from the Help file into the Html between
<noscript> <noscript>and i keep getting undefined.I have tried saving the file as flash 8 and i am publish flash 8.
I would like my flash to act differently depending on what html page it is on. Can I send information from html code to action script?

However, I need to get the XML data into a (JSP) session and can't neccesarily have an external XML file--any suggestions? Can I put the XML string into a hidden input field in a form on the HTML? Can Flash communicate with that HTML? Or are one of the below methods recommended:

I am trying to create a dynamic menu for a video player. Much like the one found here (MTV OverDrive. )Obviouslythis is a Flash site and I can only assume the video list is being generated via XML. I am trying to accomplish the same thing, only I am not using FCS.
I just want to create the buttons dynamically with thumbnail images and text via XML, and in turn load the video based on a button click. I have the video part working fine, using a video object, I just need to know how to create the buttons WITH THUMBS from an XML file. I can figure out how to load the video once the button is clicked. The problem is the menu itself and loading the different thumbnail with the button.I am sure it has something to do with "attachMovie,DuplicateMovie, or CreateEmptyMovieClip" but I am not sure how to do this with XML.
For some reason, when I edit my website in FrontPage and savehe changes, the swf file that is the menu disappears when viewedin Safari but not Internet Explorer. There is no problem when Ifirst ftp the pages...it's only AFTER I (or a client) edits thepage in FrontPage.his is the only website of mine that has this problem. View 1 RepliesI've developed a small Flash [8] slideshow of ten 4x6 jpgs,optimized it, published it, and inserted it into a Dreamweaver [8]basic XHTML-compliant page, saved the page and previewed it in a variety of browsers. It works perfectly.Then I FTP'd it along with other files and photos for the site. and tested it out on the same browsers: everything EXCEPT the slideshow now works perfectly; there's not a trace of the ss.What am I doing wrong? I've retraced all of my steps several times -- I even re-FTP'd it -- all with the same result.

When using LoadVars.sendAndLoad() I can still insert info into the database, but I can NOT update the info in the textfield. For some reason the "old" db content is loaded again.Flash and PHP files are in same folder on server.

not to bad, so now your html is loading the swf with the url variable. the problem is this data is hard coded into the html.now for the question. how do i get the html to pass the url variable it receives onto the flash?

Ok, heres whats going on - I have a CFML Tag that displays a number from my Database. I want to get flash to be able to read this number using embedded HTML. However, I can't find a tutorial in Google I may be searching for the wrong thing.

I have a Flash Web site for a small literary journal and am trying to switch over to my hosting service's mailing list manager for sending out newsletters. I see the HTML code for setting this up (available from my host), but do not know how to get it to work in my Flash site. (I did not build the site and know very little about Flash...I'm learning as I go in order to do updates.) It looks like the site currenly links to a PHP file to allow for sign ups to our newsletter. Can anyone tell me h how to get the HTML code to work on my site?

Now I have some developers working on a CMS type page in PHP that is going to hopefully pass some sort of information to my player that will let it know where the video is stored on our server. Is there a way to do this without using FMS? If so does anyone have ideas where I can find the information for it.
View 2 RepliesI just published a short movie from Flash CS4 and placed the entire set of files at this URL[URL] and when my web designer or me for that matter double clicks on the HTML file the movie doesn't play. We get a black screen and at the bottom of the frame in the progress bar there's a little green & white zebra like moving line. I'm pretty sure this is how I've delivered movies from CS3. I'm obviously missing something obvious here, but I haven't a clue. If I double click on the HTML file on my machine that has Flash installed it works great. The .FLV file plays correctly in media player also.
View 7 RepliesI created a complex fixed line and a bird flying on the line using tweens from point A to B to C. When I view the birdline in play or by scrubbing across them in the layers mode, the bird follows the line just as designed. When I test the birdline in "test Scene" or "test movie" one bird flies from point A to C, then another bird appears at point B and flies the course to point C. The published .swf and .html do the same as the test functions. What can I do to get the published version to behave the same as the design?

I have made a webpage with Flash AS3 and published it in HTML. What can I do to fit it on any screen with any resolution? My page is 800x600 and I would like to have it fit to screen in both dimensions (x and y) or in one dimention on any screen. I prefer not to stretch it on screen.By stretching, the images will be deformed and I don't want it.

In IE the swf is a little square, in Firefox it doesn't display anything, etc.I have posted below the HTML that Flash CS4 has published for me. I have added the lines to include the swfobject and swfaddress javascript files. I'd like to create one empty Flash movie that is essentially a placeholder for externally loaded content I can change through XML. This content would just be able to randomly load 1 of 3 photos, with a button linking to a website within each of the photos on page load. If the user refreshes the page, a new photo with it's link would appear, but I understand since it's random,having 3 images the same image is likely to reappear, but I can always add additional photos and links.
Does anyone know of a tutorial that might lead me on the correct path to create this? I've found some tuts, but they've been different than my need.
We want to be able to upload over 100+ files (if needed) to a server along with desc + keywords. I see that Flash 8 has the neccessary tools to handle file uploading, but my question is, can we have it act as a Stand alone FTP program so that we can utilize the fastest user upload, or will we be confined to the settings in the server INI settings.IE MAX_UPLOAD_TIME,MAX_FILESIZE, etc. If possible we want to avoid using the HTTP upload as it is noticeably slower. So if we can use flash to utilize user BW to upload, then that would be ideal.
View 1 RepliesI have made an animation, when i veiwed it as a preveiw in flash CS4 it works fine.So I published it as both a HTML fie and SWF.The HTML file runs perfectly fine, but the SWF file is missing almost all of the illustrations and the play button at the begining, the sounds all work fine however.
