Data Integration :: Search Function For External Html Content?
Jan 22, 2007
i have got a Flash Projector which is to be deployed onDC/DVD rom. I am using an XML menu to load various chapters andsections of html content, images etc. The client is now asking forthe capability to search within the "books" content. Is there any way of doing this? I have found an Extensionthat allows me to search within a text field, but what aboutexternal content files?
I want to build search functionality into my AS3 app, whereby I would give some MovieClips their own relevant 'tags' and check whether any of the tags match the search items the user has put in - the objects would then be sorted depending on how much they match the search. I am thinking to put the tags for each object in an array and then go through them and look for matches, it is possible there would be multiple matches for each search request and I will need to split the search string on each 'space' (spacebar) to allow for multiple search terms. Also, I want to run the search every half second or so and so the search term could match the first few letters of a tag and this should return a positive match.
Im new to placing external data into Flash. I just got CS3 and Im trying to use Flash to dynamically load XML data via a FlashVars call in the HTML.
The problem is I have followed the very straight forward AS2 Help files for using FlashVars and URL variables.I have placed the code directly from the Help file into the Html between <noscript> <noscript>and i keep getting undefined.I have tried saving the file as flash 8 and i am publish flash 8.
I currently have a Flash app that gets populated by parsing data from an external XML file. However, I need to get the XML data into a (JSP) session and can't neccesarily have an external XML file--any suggestions? Can I put the XML string into a hidden input field in a form on the HTML? Can Flash communicate with that HTML? Or are one of the below methods recommended:
I'm trying to read some data in from a sql source, some of which contains double quotes embedded in the text. I know I can strip the doublequotes, but don't want to go that route if I can avoid it. I've tried replacing to double quotes with hex codes before passing the text via parameter to my flash file, but the text string always cuts off at the hex code, the same as if the double quote were present in the string. For example:This is a "text" stringreplace double quotes with hex: This is a x22textx22 stringesults when read into flash: This is a <remainder is dropped>Yet if I type the same text string in a variable in flash, the string displays the double quotes properly:
I will be creating a program to use for data entry. I'll be studying zebras in kenya and I won't have the internet there as I'm recording the data. I'd like to be able to send the data I generate in flash to an external text file. I understand I need some sort of script to do that, but is this something I can run just on my machine? (I'll probably make the data into xml format).
I am having a hell of a time getting around the new IE flash/embeded content protocols. I have tried using various formats, like using <noscript> tags outside of the <object> tags. All that results in is the entire flash content disappearing. I've tired using this external JavaScript file:
I am new to Flash and was wondering if it was, at all, possible to load a webpage into flash? I want to load my HTML sitesonto my flash stage. Would it work the same as loading a picture using the loader component?
when iam trying to publish an flash project containing a dynamic xml menu as html file ,the menu is not showing although it is showing in the accompannying swf file, any body knows the problem??
I've developed a small Flash [8] slideshow of ten 4x6 jpgs, optimized it, published it, and inserted it into a Dreamweaver [8]basic XHTML-compliant page, saved the page and previewed it in a variety of browsers. It works perfectly. Then I FTP'd it along with other files and photos for the site. and tested it out on the same browsers: everything EXCEPT the slideshow now works perfectly; there's not a trace of the ss.What am I doing wrong? I've retraced all of my steps several times -- I even re-FTP'd it -- all with the same result.
I created an multilanguage application with the "strings "panel. My customer need to put some words in italic inside the dynamic textfield. So I used <i> tag or cdata tag insied the xml, but nothing works, even if I put the textfield in "html" format. So How can I do. Do we need to change the "locale.as" class?
I am trying to fetch values from HTML -embed tag into Actioscript 3.0 (Flash CS4). And sending the value to Javascript using ExternalInterface.call method. But its not working on all browsers. I am getting Security Sandbox Violation error. Following is the HTML in which embed tag and javascript is
I want toload a html webpage which contains a calendar into my swf file. Thehtml file does not contain tags that flash does not recognise butim unsure on how to get flash to display the webpage, if this ispossible at all. I have attached the code within my html file.Basically all I want to do is load "calendar.html" into my flashmovie and keep its format
Using LoadVars.send() I insert info into a mysql database.I then click a button and the updated db content is shown in a textfield. Problem is that a HTML file is auto-opened in the browser.
When using LoadVars.sendAndLoad() I can still insert info into the database, but I can NOT update the info in the textfield. For some reason the "old" db content is loaded again.Flash and PHP files are in same folder on server.
this liveDoc covers getting a url variable into flash:http:/[url]....you can pass data to a flash movie by doing the following:[url]....this will create a variable: _level0. variablename with the data: thisisthedata.so far so good.you can then embed this in the published html doc by including your data string in the object/embed tags.like so:
not to bad, so now your html is loading the swf with the url variable. the problem is this data is hard coded into the html.now for the question. how do i get the html to pass the url variable it receives onto the flash?
Ok, heres whats going on - I have a CFML Tag that displays a number from my Database. I want to get flash to be able to read this number using embedded HTML. However, I can't find a tutorial in Google I may be searching for the wrong thing.
I have just established a menu based-image in flash in the main html page. Also I do have a second page has details on each option of the menu of the main page. I am trying to whenever I click on any option of the menu in the main page; this should take me to the specific section in the second page describing this option.
Is there a way to load an XML file if it's on a differen server/domain than the html/swf file? I already set allowScriptAccess="all" but it didn't seem to help.
I do have a set of images (lets say 1,2,3,4 and 5) in an html page. what I want is once the html page is reloaded, the order of the sliding should change randomly (from 1,2,3,4 and 5) to (4,5,3,4,5...)for example.
I've really looked hard to find an example/tutorial for loading external XML data into a DataGrid component using AS3. The code I'm using at the moment has the XML data in the AS code.
Here is the code that is working for internal XML data: import fl.controls.dataGridClasses.DataGridColumn; import fl.data.DataProvider; stop(); var emailXML:XML = <emails> [Code] .....
Is there any library or open source function that approximate the area under a line that is described by some of its values taken at irregular intervals?
I need to hold a couple of variables in an outside file that can be incremented by user activity -- not just during one interaction with the swf, but with every one.I have no problems with using loadVars and I get the loadandsend process; it is just that I have no background in cgi or asp for holding the variable and being able to update it.I know I cannot write to a txt file -- that is what I have been using thus far with loadVars for importing values, but this will not help me here. I know it should be a fairly simple script -- I also know I ought to pick up php, but for the moment -- until a greater amount of time comes my way -- I turn to you.
I can think of to prevent my external images from being compressed. I have a few png files being pulled into flash via XML and AS3. For some reason the images that are being pulled in are being compressed and look terrible. What can i do to prevent them from being compressed so much. They are pulled in via an empty movieclip.URL...Here is the AS that is being used to pull the images in and the XML information.[code]
I am trying to run some code after the XMLConnector triggerfunction is completely done loading all of the xml data into theflash file and the bindings are updated. Is there an event or somekind of way to pause and run the code after all the radiobuttonsand checkboxes are updated with the xml boolean values?
I am creating a gallery type site, I am loading xml data externally creating duplicate movie clips and it all works fine, my only problem is I want them to go to a URL, I have one of the nodes with the URL and in my actionscript I am calling a function to getURL on press, the problem is on each separate movieclip it links to the URL of the last movieclip in the stack.
