So is there anyway I can dynamically target a variable? This was easy in AS2, but because of the strict dataType the vars have in AS3, I can't do it like I was doing it in AS2.

Problem: I push multiple strings into an array, and some of the strings are the same.

I want to find out which element positions "Snivvle" hogs up. We can see that it would be using element 0 and 2, and if we do an "indexOf" we would only get to see element 0, and doing a "lastIndexOf" we would only see element 2. How do I find out ALL of the element positions "Snivvle" is located in, so that it returns: element 0, element 2.
I would like to select a specific xml file to load from a local directory. The file name is composed of "Title" + "number sequence". I know the Title (in this case its XLink07), but I need to select the latest number sequence or the latest by date stamp.
For example, the local directory has the following files:

XLink02[36735298100].xml
XLink02[36735298101].xml
XLink07[36735298100].xml
XLink07[36735298101].xml
In this example I need to select file XLink07[XXXXXXXXXXX].xml where XXXXXXXXXXX is the highest number within the XLink07[XXXXXXXXXXX].xml files. Title is Xlink07 and function should return Number sequence [36735298101]. Files with higher number sequence have later date stamps than files with lower number sequences. I need to select the highest number or the latest date stamp for the file that begins with XLink07.
My action script to load the local .xml file without any function to select the correct file is:

This does not happen with the mx Panel.unning Flex 4.1 on Windows 7I tried putting mx and spark controls in the spark Panel, and they both appear outside of the boundaries. I've traced the PopUpManager, but I didn't find any available interfaces or events about popup window's moving, I think it's design shouldn't be so bad.

Flex 4 Combobox is extended with a Text Input that helps in getting to the item that is searched for.I have created a Check Box as an itemrenderer for this Flex 4 Combobox. I would like to Add a Select All and Select None options in the drop down of the Combobox. I know that i could accomplish by editing the dropdownfactory in case of a Flex 3 Combobox. But in Flex 4 the dropdownfactory doesnt exist.
View 2 RepliesI have basic movie clips, On roll over, show arrows [NEXT, PREVIOUS] on movie clip [they then show other images inside movie clips]I can show arrows on roll over.But when i roll over the arrows the main ROLLOUT function gets called, the arrows hide. I've tried several flagging methods and have resulted in using a larger invisible border around the clip, rolling over that hides them.

So I want to make some games that me and my friends will be able to play next school year. So basically something you can play on the web.
What programming languages deploy to the web?If c# is possible, and a mac with safari/firefox would be able to use it (I can't install plugins, and I don't want to get in trouble for making myself admin again)Flash, Java, etc. If java does, I'd like that most since it's most like c#. Then what libraries/engines would I use? I want to do 2d. And then what IDE would I use?

It would be really nice to at least have most of the code in a single language rather than having to use Objective C for the Apple versions, C# or C++ for Windows, and Java for Android.We were looking at Flex (with all of its problems) as a way to avoid having to use a different language for each version, but Adobe has thrown in the towel and in the long run that's not going to do the job. Java used to promise to be universal, but it looks like Apple no longer supports it as a part of the distributed OS, and as far as I can tell Microsoft never supported it. We don't want our users to have to download and install something just so they can use our app.Is there a solution? Or are we stuck with building the app in multiple languages?
