ActionScript 3.0 :: Dynamic Variable Name - Add The Selected Language String To WelcomeSL
May 16, 2009
I am trying to make a 2 languages flash website. I need to know if something similar to the following can be done: var selectedLanguage:String = "PT"; // PT= Portugus, EN = English, ES = Espaol
i need help with Strings and URL variables.i created lot of languages in Strings panel (xml filesand folders created too).swf?lang=en.i need help with how to add this variable to as3 -using the strings panel from Flash.if .swf?lang=en - then selected language is english "en" write manually to browser if type "fr" like .swf?lang=fr.
I need to display a textfield(present in stage) in different language. The content(in that language) will come from XML. I need to display that content in the textfiled.If I change the language xml, then the text should display the correcponding language. is this possible.
I have a movie player that works fine when i hard-code the url value in the video function, but when i try to pass that url/file path from an external file, the video doesn't load. I suspect that there is something i'm doing wrong with the quotes. What am i doing wrong?
I have a SWF with text embedded from an external .txt file. Is there a way I can have a different file used as the text source through the embedcode (swfObject) depending on the language?
There are four languages needed so far, but this will grow so it needs to be flexible enough to let the developers add languages without getting a new SWF each time.
I've got some dynamic text where certain lines will select (via setSelection) upon clicking.how to turn this selected text into a stored string I can then parse into usable sections.What methods could I use to get a selected text into a string?
I have a String variable in my flex (flash builder 4) application containing CSV data. I need to allow the user to download this data to a local file. For example, giving them a "csv" button to click and it might present them with a save file dialog (and I would be sending the contents of my string variable).Is this possible / how ?I am using the ResuableFX component for the datagrid to csv. This the code I ended up with that works to save the string to a text file for the user (in a web browser):
var dg2CSV:DataGrid2CSV = new DataGrid2CSV(); dg2CSV.includeHeader=true; dg2CSV.target=adgEncounters;
I just want to acquire the existing label from the currently selected item in a ComboBox. I populated it with a DataProvider with a list of strings and it will not allow me to get the currently selected label, especially if I input a new one, not included in the DataProvider
Trying to replace a portion of a string with a "-" if it matches a string variable in AS3.
var re:RegExp = new RegExp(imageArray[j][1],"gi"); trace(imageArray[jTemp][2].replace(re,"-"));
imageArray[jTemp][2] is a string imageArray[j][1] is a string as well I'm not getting the result I expect. I would like trace above to return 'permanentContainer-' Here are the traces for the above variables
Basically I'm trying to output the contents of an XML document into a dynamic text field (as loaded - not just its node values and content - the entire thing - into a variable called _root.log). The text field is set to show the variable value of _root.log.This is the actionscript...
PHP Code: var newProfileXML:XML= new XML("<contacts result='true'><contact name='John Doe'/><contact name='Jane Doe'/></contacts>");
how you would target a function's local variable through a concatenated variable string.For example:
var txt = "Hello World"; function testing(msg) { var test1 = msg;[code].........
I'd expect the trace to be "Hello World" but rather is given "undefined". So if variables created outside functions are created on the main timeline, where are local function variables created and how would you access them?
I'am working with Adobe AIR application and i have a registration form which contains a combobox which consist of 2 values...i want to store the selected value to a variable..
i'm getting a value from a class that gives me e.g "icon1" as data. i want to use this within a function to control the visibility of an item nested in a movieclip on the stage. the nested movie has the same name as the data being sent.
// here's what i want it to do: mymenu.icon1.visible = true; // but i cant append the 2 together as flash will see it as a string not read it as path.
I have been banging my head against a brick wall regarding the following problem which must be very simple to fix, just can't see the answer.I have a class assigned to a movieclip called canvas. The class is called drawClass. I have called the instance of canvas on the stage 'drawingCanvas'.When I trace "drawingCanvas" I get object drawClass] which is fine. Tracing drawingCanvas.name gets me the instance name 'drawingCanvas'.This is a String variable.Basically what I am trying to do is pass the MovieClip name to another class. In my example the class 'toolBar', which can then interact with the MovieClip.
The problem is passing 'drawingCanvas.name' results in a String, so I get an error saying :TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert "canvasArea" to flash.display.MovieClip.I can't for love or money find a way to convert a String variable to a MovieClip variable! I have the name of the MovieClip, I just need to tell the toolbar class. But I can't find a way of doing this as the instance on stage is an object of drawingClass, not a MovieClip (unless MovieClips with attached classes are not treated as standard MovieClips?).
I was wondering how to store a DATE value, selected from the DATEFIELD component into a variable.I.e. so that the user will enter a date (Sept. 12, 2005), and on subsequent frame, that date will be written as text. Thus, how can I store a selected date into a variable?
This is sort of difficult to explain but I'll do my best. I've got 6 score variables that go up over time.
[Code]...
Each corresponds to a different color of "Monster" class I reated. "GreenMonster", "BlueMonster", etc. are all custom classes. Each class has a string property called "MonsterColor". So "Blue1.MonsterColor = "Blue".
To save lines of code, and learn, I'm trying to use a local string variable to take the place of whichever of these 6 int variables I need. So inside a for loop, I've created a variable called "colorscore".
I would like to dinamically create array variables, depending on a XML file. The problem I have is that I don't know how to create them dinamically using a name I have constructed into a string variable. What I would like is something like this:
var strVarName; ... strVarName = "Var" + i; var strVarName = new Array(); ...
So I would have n arrays called Var1, Var2, ... Varn.
I'm trying to make a game that is turn-based and allows players to first be selected, then click on a grid square to move there. However, I can't get a way for a variable storing whether the player is selected to be passed back to the actual grid class. I want the grid class to have an event listener that when the grid is clicked on, it will move the player there only if the player is selected. But whenever I try to declare a global variable either inside the grid class or even a document class or even access properties of the character class I'm trying to move I get errors.
In Flash 5, How can we center the text in dynamic text box with html property selected? I used center tag and also align attribute in font tag, but I couldn't get text in center.
I have a datefield labeled my_datefieldI have a dynamic text field labeled my_textWhat code can I use for the selected date of my_datefield to display in my_text?So say in the datefield I click on October 11th
I have a menu with many sub menus. I need to change the color of the selected button and then move on to the sub menu. My menu is horizontal and now it's not obvious the path that you follow.
