Is there any way possible I can get a dynamic text box to display the selected content of a list box.

I'm creating a backend using flash, php and mysql. The problem i'm having is that i have 2 dynamic text fields on the stage that i want it to display their content based on the page i am. I'm dynamically loading content (jpgs & text) into a scrollpane from an xml file. It should display an image, and then below it some associated text. My problem is that when the content loads in, the first jpg isnt visible. I'm pretty sure its there because all the other jpgs load. What I think is happening is that the scrollpane is displaying the text below the 1st jpg at the very top of the scrollpane, which leaves the jpg above the scrollpane and thus not visible.
When I first started this catalog. I was loading the content into an MC I had manually created and was attaching to the scrollpane via attachMovie. I had the same problem as above in this scenario as well...and to correct that what I did was make a box that went around the entire are that the jpgs and text loaded into. This allowed the jpg to show up.
But now that I'm dynamically creating both the holder MC and the textfield, I'm back to losing the 1st jpg image. It seems to me that the scrollpane needs something above the jpg holder MC for it to be displayed.

I am currently working on a project in Flex and I am having a hard time having a list's contents ALL be selected by default. Wondering how to do this.

I have a difficult question to explain. I have a class file that loads an external XML file, parses the main nodes into an array, then creates a movie clip instance for each of the main nodes and creates text fields inside of the movie clip instance based on the child nodes in the XML.
Each movie clip instance that is added dynamically has a movie clip embedded in it that acts as a tab. I update the dynamic text of this embedded movie clip based on the name of each main XML node.
Now where I am getting stuck is that I have attached an event listener to each tab movie clip that is inside of each dynamically created movie clip. What I want to do is when the user clicks this tab have that movie clip move to the top of the display list on top of all the other dynamically created movie clips. My problem is that I don't know how to get the references correct.
When I create the movie clips dynamically I store the objects in an array. The problem appears to be that the event is fired for a movie clip inside of the dynamic movie clip so I don't know how to reference the parent movie clip. Maybe it is something else but I don't know how to make reference to the main movie clips that I want to swap.
I hope that makes sense. My main question is how do I use the swapChildren or setChild functions when the movie clip clicked is located within the movie clip I want to change in the display list as well as the fact that this movie clip was created dynamically.

If you take a look at my flash movie you will see that I have draggable movie clips, which contain dynamic text fields. These text fields contain text drawn in from a simple xml document. The problem I have is that the text in the text fields is hedged right next to the border of the autosized text box. This makes them look untidy and in the worst case difficult to read. I wonder how I can add some margin to the left and right of the text to fill in some space.The code which formats the text boxes is:

View 1 RepliesI have a dynamic textfield being populated with an xml files' content. I then have a css stylesheet loaded into format the text. This all works great, but what doesn't work is the ability to bold some of the words in that text. I have both the regular and bold versions of the font embedded into the swf, I can test out just a bold block of text and it works fine. The css is also working as it will change the size of the text that I tell it to. Everything is working, but for some reason I am not able to get the bolder version of the font to display in the same text box as the regular one. I have also tried to change fonts but had the same outcome.

View 8 RepliesI'm attaching several movieclips onto the stage inside a for-loop and populating a dynamic textfield within the moviclip inside the same loop.Tracing the texfield.text shows the proper value in the Output console. However, the text value is not visible on the stage. I've drew a shape next to the dynamic textfield just to make sure the movieclip is being properly attached. I can see the shape but there is no text next to it.

I've watched the tutorial on how to build an XML Video Playlist using the UI List Component. I'm wondering if there's a way instead to use a dynamic text box, or some other solution that doesn't require a component. I have a video object and a dynamic text box that successfully loads a videolist.xml file, and displays the contents (title, location, date) for each <video> node, separated by line breaks. Now I'd like to make the contents of each <video> node a link, which loads a new movie into the player. If this can't be done with a dynamic text box, can it be done some other way, not involving the use of a component?
