Apr 1, 2010
I need to display a textfield(present in stage) in different language. The content(in that language) will come from XML. I need to display that content in the textfiled.If I change the language xml, then the text should display the correcponding language. is this possible.

I have a strange issue where a dynamic text field will not show a bold version of a font (Gerstner BQ) if the regular version is on the stage in a static text field.Remove the static text field and the dynamic text field displays the bold font correctlyI have created a test FLA to reproduce this and by turning the layer with the static text field on and off (Publish settings -> Flash -> include hidden layers [unchecked]), the issue is quite clearhis issue is so big for me that I have had to abandon a project in CS5 and start again in CS4 just to work around this.

I am working on a as3 project in which the user select a font from Combo Box and that font SWF should be loaded Dynamically and then i need to change the font of the Dynamic text field.
I have swf font files downloaded from [URL]
My question is that how can i load the font swf dynamically from server and add them to the library and how can i use that swf to change the font of dynamic text field.
if there are embedded fonts in library the i can access them using this- --
var fontList:Array = Font.enumerateFonts();
for( var i:int=0; i<fontList.length; i++ )
{
trace( "font: " + fontList[ i ].fontName );
}
But How to use dynamically loaded Font swf as a font type.

I have a SWF with text embedded from an external .txt file. Is there a way I can have a different file used as the text source through the embedcode (swfObject) depending on the language?
Here is my current actionscript:
myData = new LoadVars();
myData.onLoad = function() {
text_clips.project_title.text = this.projecttitle1;
[Code]....
There are four languages needed so far, but this will grow so it needs to be flexible enough to let the developers add languages without getting a new SWF each time.

Why do the dynamic text font size appears smaller than what I specified in the flash dynamic text properties? I used a font size of 50 for the dynamic text and when I test movie, it appears to be only a font size of 12. Why is it so?

I'm trying to embed a font in my project by using url("font.ttf") rather than local("Font Name"), but it doesn't seem to pick it up. The font in question is called "Gotham Bold". When i view the details of the font, the font weight is regular, however when i use local("Gotham Bold") in the css i have to specify fontWeight: bold or else it wont pick it up. But when I use url("folderGotham-Bold.ttf"), and specify fontWeight: bold, it says that font weight is not found for that TTF. If i remove the fontweight, there's no errors, but the font is not applied to the text.

i'm using a font called "AGBookBQ-Regular" in a dynamic text box, which loads a text file. i understand that to include the bold and italic options, i have placed another text box just out of view off the stage with these two options selected.italic works fine but the bold makes very little difference... it only stretches the font slightly.i've searched for the answer to make a much bolder font and it seems you can use a specific bold font as the bold font.i've tried this, but nothing happens. i think i'm interpreting it correctly, but if someone could please confirm this works and perhaps explain it a little clearer (using my specific font names... "AGBookBQ-Regular" and "AGBookBQ-Medium" as the bold font).

Is there a known bug for the following case?
Case:
A project I'm working on doesn't seem to handle font embedding correctly when the font is added dynamically using actionscript. When I test my movie it does not display the embedded font at all. Curious about this is, that when I create an empty project using the same code and then embed the font and test the movie it displays the font without any problem.
Sometimes a reboot of the machine I'm working on will suffice to make the embedding work again, but sometimes is not all the time. So I was wondering if there was a memory related bug that causes this behavior. If so, is there any sight on a solution for this bug? It's more than annoying to reboot eight times a day, just to test a movie.
How did I embed the font:
1. Create a "New Font" in the Library, set the properties and give it a classname.
2. Using actionscript to embed the font in a dynamically generated TextField.
package{
import flash.display.MovieClip;
import flash.display.text.Font;
[Code]...

I want to be able to dynamically load a font. The path to the font (a TTF file) will be specified in an XML file. It would similar to loading a XML or bitmap. From the examples I've seen, the font has to be embedded in the source code or has to be placed in a SWF file. This to me means that you have to load all the fonts you need in advance and someone can't add a font that wasn't already pre-loaded.

I followed Lee's "Runtime Font Loading" tutorial and got it to work, but where would I do the loading of the font in a MVC pattern. Model? View?I have a view loading creating an instance of a box class (TextField) for each item in an XMLList, then it adds it to the stage. I want the textField in the box class to use the runtime loaded font. I have no clue in what class to load it in co the box class has access to it.

I'm using Flash CS5, and dcepending on what the user does, I'm changing the font in a dynamic text box using
gFormula = "Na<font face='GG Superscript Sans'>+</font>"
txt_Names.htmlText = gFormula
The correct font appears on the computer where the font is installed but not on other computers, so I assume that it is a font embedding problem. I have embedded the font.

I have a dynamic text box with a paragraph of information. I would like to make certain key words a larger font size for emphasis. An example would look like this: The ever-changing landscape of the business world demands knowledgeable and skilled managers. We have been educating students about management best practices for more than a century to help them succeed in the corporate world. Whether you are looking for an online business degree to get your career started in sales, human resources, accounting, or some other area of the business world, we have the online business degree you need. Is it possible to change the font size for just some of the text inside a dynamic text box to be changed like this? I cannot get it to work properly. The reason I have it as dynamic is because it needs a scrollbar.

I'm trying to create dynamic textfield with font embedding. Embeding is dynamic like this:
public class TextFormats extends TextFormat {
private var TF:TextFormat = new TextFormat();
[Embed(source = "/fonts/tahoma.ttf", fontWeight = "normal", fontFamily = "tahomaNormal")]
var fontTahoma:Class;
private var fTahoma:Font;
[Code] .....
When I compile it in flash CS4, embeded text appears on stage fine! But, when I tried to compile it with flash CS5, the text do not appear and no error warnings. What is the reason? Should I use another methods for font embedding?

My problem is this. The dynamic field in my swf are being populated by global variables that I set throughout the movie and these print fine on the front of the card. However, in order to get them onto the magstripe they need to be the printer font. No problem! But there is. I I compile the swf with data in the fields (typed in before export) they are written. BUT, if I print from inside the movie with the dynamic filed fields they DO NOT carry through.

I've come across a potential issue that I think I will be able to solve, although it seems to be to be something that may already have a solution, so I thought it best to save time and check.
I'm basically looking to create a menu where the labels are highly detailed and visually pleasing. The problem is that each and every label needs to be dynamically generated so that the menu is shown in the correct language.
My issue is this: is their a method in flash of defining letters for use as a font that aren't just flat colours? Imagine taking each letter into an image editing program, applying some effects to it, then important them all into flash as graphics/bitmap data. Could those graphics then be defined as letters in a font so that, when the swf is handed the string, it can create the dynamic label from my lovely looking alphabet?
I have a few ideas on how to implement a system using arrays and swapping the dynamic textfields for dynamically created movies, but that would mean building it from the ground up, something which may not be necessary if something similar already exists.
Anyway, I look forward to your replies; this forums has unknowingly solved a large number of my problems in the past, and acted as a safety rope as I learnt AS3. Now that I am on this forum I will likely try and take some time to give something back and help out other beginners, at least I will do when my thesis is finished

I have a dynamic text field which is populated at runtime with AS3. I have set the font of the field to Arial. However, when I run the SWF, the font is MS Gothic. I can't seem to get it back to Arial.
I guessed this may have something to do with character embedding, so I clicked the Character Embedding button, and selected "All" (just for testing). However, that didn't work.

I am trying to use a font symbol from an external shared library. When I place the script below in my frame, trying to format a textfield on the stage, the textfield disappears. Only when I place another element (from the same shared library) in the stage, the textfield responds to the script. Although, when I tried to create a static text using the same font symbol, the dynamic textfield dissapeared, while the static text got the font symbol without any trouble.
var myFormat = new TextFormat();
myFormat.color - 0x999999;
myFormat.font = "Harmony";//Harmony is the Identifier of the symbol
myFormat.size = 16;
_root.my_txt.embedFonts = true;
_root.my_txt.text = "Some text";
my_txt.setTextFormat(myFormat);

I've been updating a flash-file for a company and now struggle to sort the menu system. This is how I would want it to work. Had they not used external xml and font swf files it would be done by now, but I have no clue how to include them in the script.

I have been using the embed feature of flex to embed fonts at compile time.[code]I realize this isnt the entire line. Im just putting in the pertinent parts.Either one works fine. My question is , what if I dont know what font i need where this line exists. For example let say i want to instantiate a new object of type SomeField. And as an arguement i want to pass in a string , an associative id of the system font, like "Arial" or "Tahoma". Then inside the SomeField class where the :[code]where $Some var is a string assigned by the caller of the child. The idea is to have the developer be able to import a class , create a new instance of that class , and pass in a string , being the name of the font theyd like to dynamically embed. All this could be done without ever having to go into the acutal class defintion for the object and manually chaning the 'systemFont' or 'source' linakge.

have created a scrolling text area in flash CS3 using a dynamic text box with text inside controlled by a couple of buttons using the .scroll property to add to the scroll value on each click of a button.i am wanting to add two new buttons to decrease and increase the font size of the text within the dynamic text area, which i thought should be fairly easy. i found a .size property which could be applied to text, but i do not think i am using it in the right way. here's what i have tried to do (where 'myText' is the instance name of my dynamic text area):
on (release) {
var myFormat = myText.getTextFormat();
myFormat.size += 10;
