The image is the little speaker, which has been converted to a Button symbol. When you click the button to mute, the sound mutes and a red "X" appears over the speaker icon. The red "X" was created as a Movie Clip so that it appears and disappears as you mute and unmute....after you click the button and mute, the red "X" does appear, however 1.) When the master movie recycles so does that X (it disappears). The muting stays off, though. Of course, then, if I want to unmute, I have to reclick the speaker icon to make the "X" reappear and then quickly click it again to turn the muting off (and I have to catch it before it recycles and disappears again).it is anyway. I've made a flash movie which will load four movie clips at runtime. Actually, the number of movie clips will depend upon number of "NODE" in XML file. Keeping XML file thing aside, I've tried hardcoded values; 4. Let me describe you the structure very well:
There is a main empty movie clip, instance name "mc_scroll" which will be only item on stage. In this movie clip, another movie clip whose identifier name is "blueMovie" will be loaded dynamically. Inside this "blueMovie" MC, there is a button instance name is "blueButton" and inside this button there is a "Dynamic Text" field instance name is "btn_text".
Phewww.. so long chain... inshort: mc_scroll->blueMovie->blueButton->btn_text
Now, I can load 4 or any number of "blueMovie" inside "mc_scroll". But I also want to set the button text for each button inside each MC!! I'm sure you guys are getting what I want to do. But its not working. Below is the code:

Creating the necessary code to make a mute/unmute button in ActionScript 2? I would like the "toggle" button to control a specific sound clip only -- not any other sound within my presentation. Basically I have an intro animation of about 20 seconds that has background music to it. I would like to add a mute toggle button that controls only this music clip and not any other sound found within my presentation. Is this possible? I've seen code for "globally" muting or stopping sounds. I need code for just a specific music clip (sound object?).
I've downloaded the the Flash mp3 Player. I did some minor modifications to it and it works well. The only problem I have is that when the mute button is pressed, the current song is mute(s.setVolume(0)), but when the next song comes up, the mute button is not in mute state(Volume not set to 0). I want to keep the mute state unchanged when the songs are playing untill the mute button is pressed again.
I have a dynamic text box and a movie clip with a button in it in the same frame. What I want to happen is when you click the button, it will add 1 to the text box. My application creates instances of a movie clip (located in the library) based on XML data. Now I want to add individual button functionality to these instances, and I'm stumped.
I'm basically creating instances of clickable doors, the data of which are fetched from an external XML file. The number of doors (doorCount) is calculated directly from the number of "door" nodes in the XML, so it needs to be fully dynamic. Essentially, I want to have a single function that each instance can use by passing in their individual XML data. Clicking a door would first open the door (or something similar), and clicking it again would lead to a link, listed in each instance node.

I don't really know where to begin. Am I able to declare an eventListener inside the loop? How do I pass the "number" of the door to the function called by the eventListener? Or should I somehow pass the door-specific link (and any other node data) to the function directly from the loop?

I want to use a button symbol that has dynamic text in it that can be edited in actionscript. At first I placed the dynamic text field over the button and made the group into another button, but the text was not getting loaded from the actionscript. I researched and found a suggestion to group them as a movie clip instead of a button as the button won't find the contained text field.
I've changed the button+text to a movie clip symbol and now the text loads fine; however, I have the button set so that on "Down", x and y increase by 2 and the shadow decreases by 2 to give it a "pressed down" effect. However I can't figure out how to get my text to move along with it, other than by creating a function for press down and release for each button, which is really laborious.

I am dinamicly creating movie clip(see code below). I give each movie clip a name that has a diffrent nubmer at the end(myMovieClip1,myMovieClip2,..). In the createEmptyMovieClip this works fine, but when I want to do something with the new created mc (_root.designer.nameMC.lineStyle(0.5, 0xFF0394, 100); ) I can't use the string variable to acccess it. How can I access this movieclip with the name given in the createEmptyMovieClip method?I shuold probably (somehow) set movie clips instance name, right?
