I just started working CS4 and finished my firest simple web page([URL]), nearly the way I wanted. Having little or no action code experience, I did what I could. Then CS4 was upgraded to CS5. When I opend the CS4 project and saved it to CS5 (making it irreversible), the preloader that worked in CS4 did not work in CS5.

View 1 RepliesDemonstarting basic AS3 to my Flash class tonight I discovered a strange anomoly. I created a scene with multiple frames and added a stop(); action on the first frame. Simple! But when i save the fla file to a USB drive and test the movie or even publish it to an exe, the stop command no longer functions. Save the fla to the hard drive and test/publish, it works fine. I tried this on multiple computers using CS4 with different USB drives and even different fla files created from scratch. The problem is consistent. gotoAndStop( ) also ceases functioning when the fla file is saved to the USB drive and then tested/published. (BTW, I also tried to do it with AS2 and the stop() command functions correctly on both the USB and hard drive).
View 12 RepliesFor this website I've put a preloader on the 1st frame and the site on the 2nd.I've tested the site after having created a small animation which makes appear the main menu, a logo and an image.Everything did work good, so I went on building the site.Now that I have created some pages I've tested again the whole site and the preloader doesn't work anymore.Testing the site on the "ctrl+enter" window and simulating the download I have a white background (both the preloader and website background are yellow) then I see the preloader for a fraction of second and suddenly the site appears.
Publishing the site on my web space the background is correctly yellow, but the preloader doesn't appear, the browser's loading bar stops at half then the preloader appears again for a fraction of seconds and suddenly the site appears (tested on Firefox, IE, Opera, Chrome and Safari, same behaviour with all of them).It looks that the preloader is become part of the site and that there is an invisibile preloader.The setting in: Publish settings -> Flash -> Script Settings -> Library Path -> Default Linkageis set to "Merged into code"the same happen if I set "Runtime Shared Library" and "Custom Preloader Loop".

make it refresh properly in explorer 8, as it works well once, but if you refresh, it stops working, and stays on 0%.
Why the preloader doesn't work in IE 8 but works in FireFox?

I have an issue with Flash CS 5.5When creating content and publish the swf and then save the fla file , all seem fine.When closing the fla and reopen it later, the last changes I made are not saved??This happens NOT every time.At first I thought it was me that I didn't save the document before closing, but no this really happens!

View 9 RepliesI have a client who has a Flash project that was used for a cd rom. The flas are 1000 x 1043. I need to know the best way to be able to save the entire presentation for the web. I already tried re saving the flas publishing in percentage that doesn't work. If I make the actual stage smaller the mc's and all dimensions would have to be made smaller manually am I correct.

It would need at least 10 editable text boxes and then I would need to have a way to save it and publish it to the website. (The client would be the only one editing so I don't really know what to do as he doesn't have any of the Adobe tools used to edit the site)
1) How do I make an editable form?
2) After the site is finished my client will need to keep adding things, is this possibe or will he have to send the files to me and haveme edit the site myself?
3) How do I make it so my client will be the only one who can edit this?

I would like to know how I can make the .psd or .jpg [as saved from photoshop] be editable in flash. View 2 Repliesi tried the tutorial that teaches you how to create a preloader....i followed the instructions and it still doesnt work! what's wrg?[code]on my first frame actions....i put the "gotoAndPlay (36)" cause i tried a previous preloader that took more than 1 frame and didnt want to change my button's "goTo" frames...but i figured it wont change anything..anyways, i put that line of code as my first frame action....by double clicking the timeline..then i create a symbol for that frame 1 and created an animation.

View 1 Repliesi found a way to publish swf as flash player 10 and that supports 3d features in the script like rotationX, rotationY and rotationZ. no need to hack or use hex editors. Simple steps you have to follow.
I have included the files + a sample 3d fla i have don in that tutorial. Only the problem is Test Movie won't show 3d features. You will have to use publish preview to get results of flash player 10 features/scripts.
I want to make my flash file to play on my dvd player. It has some scripted buttons on it, so it is important that this works, is it even possible to make a swf into a DVD format and then play it with scripted buttons?

I created SharedObject using AS2.0 it's working fine.... my question is can it possible to store the variable values in an .txt file where the flash file is saved... basically the SharedObject will store the vallues in localdrive with file extention. not only using SharedObject if any other way to store the vaules in .txt file will be helpfull for me... my requirement is to store the the position of the swf file and when the time it reopen, it should start from previous position.

However, it won't open in the browser in a different location. I pasted the html code in a web page but it doesn't work there nor opens in the browser in a differnet location from where it was originally published and saved. Why is that?
View 13 RepliesI was editing an FLA file which was Read Only due to our versioning system (P4) however, when I did not have a file checked out (therefore was Read Only), I did not get an error when I saved the file (there was even a save progress bar!) - yet when I opened the file again, all the information I had "Saved" was not there. I tested this out on several other non-checked out files (read-only files) and I was still able to hit "save" on all of them - but it did not actually save the file. In none of these instances was I alerted that I was trying to edit a read only file.

I'm trying to create a preloader for a site I am creating. Originally I was going to make it an internal preloader, but I ran into that issue where the preloader doesn't start until 50% (or more). After searching these forums for a solution to "that" issue, I found it suggested that the best way to fix it is simply do an external preloader instead.
When testing the preloader using the bandwidth editor, I see that the preloader animation isn't starting now until it's at 100%, instead I simply get a white screen. Once it reaches 100% the preloader animation runs through and then...nothing. My main.swf doesn't load. It just stops.

preloader is my movieclip with the animation, and preloader.loading_txt is a textbox inside that mc which displays the % loaded. I wanted to make it so that once the preloader (and its animation) reach 100%, the preloader mc then plays frames 101 - 124 (which are a small transition animation into the main site). Once it reaches 124 it's supposed to call the main.swf to load.
I am trying to get a preloader to work properly. I have it setup so that when the movie gets to frame 19, it returns to frame 1 unless frame 20 is loaded.
I used this same preloader previously and it worked fine.

Thsi script is on the first frame( in the first frame is the movie clip i want for my preloader, second frame is a tween which has no stop at the end, so it goes to the main scene. Is there any thing wrong with this script? When this site was online, the preloader took a long time to come up, and it is only 28 kbs large... what can i do for this?
I have finally managed to get my automated slideshow to work using alpha tweens and a setInterval function, my next problem is that my preloader won't work, in fact I can't even get a static text box to display in the preloading frames. I have followed 2 tutorials on the preloader and have made a few before with no problem but this time its just not working at all.Here's the fla.

The website is completed, but I guess now I have to go back and put in preloaders on all the pages? I'm trying to get a preload movie clip (loaderMovieClip_mc) to show up when an image is being pulled from the xml data bank and then turn the visibility to false when the image is done loading. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong any bump in the right direction would be very cool.

I think there is a conflict happening between the unloading of the imageLoader:Loader class:

I have tried commenting out the imageLoader unload code but that didn't resolve the issue.
I am very new to flash and on the net I've found a class that allows me to use a nice scroll bar for the content. My problem is that I can't get a preloader working with the class. When I want to add scrips to the frames it bugs the class if I try to implement the preloader inside the class I can't get it working. If I try to insert the preloader script inside the class it has problems with the stop(); & play(); commands. Any way to get a preferably simple preloader working with the class I am using?
I have a preloader and it works fine but as soon as I put a movie clip on to it it either does nor work or loads from 80% onwards.All I want is 1 timeline and then have a movie clip come in on frame 8 or so, but in the bandwith profiler it shows content loading in frame 1 when there is nothing there
