Why the preloader doesn't work in IE 8 but works in FireFox?

For this website I've put a preloader on the 1st frame and the site on the 2nd.I've tested the site after having created a small animation which makes appear the main menu, a logo and an image.Everything did work good, so I went on building the site.Now that I have created some pages I've tested again the whole site and the preloader doesn't work anymore.Testing the site on the "ctrl+enter" window and simulating the download I have a white background (both the preloader and website background are yellow) then I see the preloader for a fraction of second and suddenly the site appears.
Publishing the site on my web space the background is correctly yellow, but the preloader doesn't appear, the browser's loading bar stops at half then the preloader appears again for a fraction of seconds and suddenly the site appears (tested on Firefox, IE, Opera, Chrome and Safari, same behaviour with all of them).It looks that the preloader is become part of the site and that there is an invisibile preloader.The setting in: Publish settings -> Flash -> Script Settings -> Library Path -> Default Linkageis set to "Merged into code"the same happen if I set "Runtime Shared Library" and "Custom Preloader Loop".
My portfolio is a combination of elements from Kirupa's gallery and my own.The portfolio works fine but the loader just doesn't work correctly. It can be tested at URL...In Firefox the loadbar flashes once(which it shouldn't do) and the dynamic text box displays a NaN% and then 100% so something isn't being defined correctly. In IE 6.5 however there is no NaN% displayed, the preload bar flashes once and then works fine. I don't know why there would be a difference between browsers.Please take a look at the code below and let me know why the files being loaded into the picture container aren't correctly preloading. It's been a week of working on this endless portfolio and I just want it to be over.[code]
View 3 Repliesmy site is comprised of several images loaded dynamically and added to the display list. i declare a bunch of loaders on the first frame, and add a preloader progress listener to the largest image to have one preloader for all the assets. I then added a COMPLETE listener to the same image, and add that image, along with all the others in the onComplete function. i have two issue. the preloader doesnt work in Safari. but works fine in Firefox? and i'm totally stumped on what it could be? another compatibility issue that seems to be arising is that one of the galleries of my site which corresponds to the "drawn" link. also does not seem to be working in Safari, but works in Firefox. its a fairly simple xml based image gallery, which loads thumbs on to the stage, and then loads a larger version of each, when the corresponding thumbnail is clicked. the other galleries of the site work fine in safari, and are basically the same code wise.heres my code for the loading and preloader in the first frame
Code:
import caurina.transitions.*;
stop();

Discovered yesterday that the preloader I've been working with (loads external SWFs into levels based on this tutorial) which works fine on a local preview and IE, is having some major issues in Firefox. I thought this was a little bizarre at first but have since discovered that it could be something to do with 4 bytes that IE ignores but Firefox has a problem with. I've been searching for a solution that I can use pretty much constantly since then, and I'm stumped. Here's a link if you want to see it in (in)action: link
In IE, everything is good. Page loads, preloader starts at the bottom of the progress bar and progress is acurate. In Firefox, page loads, external swfs DO preload but progress bar doesn't display. When swfs are 100% loaded, the full progress bar appears with my "click to enter" link. But people will definitely have left the page thinking nothing is happening by then.

Why doesn't my preloader work in IE8?The preview looks fine in my Flash CS4.
How can I attach my files? It kept saying the upload is failed.
Trying to recode map program to utilise modest map rather than original hand made map routines. Finished up yesterday and had squashed bugs pretty much(annoying flicker issue but that didn't appear on another web browser I figure it's flash/browser related issue). Then I realised I need to try this in IE as well. And it doesn't work. Map loads up so modest map code is working. What is NOT working is everything else. It's supposed to track locations and draw arrows to their positions.
It doesn't go to where it's supposed to initially. No arrows are drawn. No control buttons from HTML side work. Nothing. Zip. I have suspicion it could be the ExternalInterface which works differently on firefox and IE. Could that be reason? If so how does one go detecting what browser I am using and how does one need to take that into account? Or is there something else that's different between IE and firefox I need to take into account?
IE itself only gives rather mystified error message.

Funny thing is both php file and output html file is 37 lines long...
This movie is supposed to start on a random frame, but the code seems to get ignored in Firefox. I also have some weird behavior when i test it locally, but it works fine in IE8, Safari, and Chrome: [URL]
Here is the code:
i = Math.floor(Math.random()*3385);
gotoAndPlay(i);
//trace("Current Frame: "+this._currentframe);
The .fla can be downloaded here: [URL]
This is the code I use to run a swf that makes zoom on images:
<body>
<center>
<OBJECT classid="clsid27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"
codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash

This code works properly in IE7 but in Firefox I have discovered that the images are loaded after than the swf. This swf file needs some parameters to work with the images, but if the images are not loaded previously then the swf does not work properly. In firefox, a page refresh is needed if the images are not yet loaded in the cache.
I have resolved the problem partially preloading the images in the previous page link using: <img src="imagebig.jpg" style="display:none;" alt="" width="781" height="1051"/> With this solution, the images are loaded prior to the swf loading.
I have a box ("bg_box") that I resize and move up and down using the tween class based on what button you select. Once it is resized the text ("textBox") for that box fades on. It works fine on all the other buttons except for one! I added in a scrollpane with a strip of photos ("gross_scroll") on the button that doesn't seem to want to work. It is just a basic _alpha tween so I am not sure why that would cause a problem.
The weirdest thing is that it only has an issue the first time the button is clicked. It skips the tween and just jumps right to the size and position it should be. Once you click on another button and click on the troublemaker again, it works just fine.
Here is my code:
Code:
easeType = mx.transitions.easing.Strong.easeOut;
var box_start = bg_box._yscale;
var box_end = 100;

I have a presentation with two set of buttons.Clicking on the set which is on the Frame (2) Should redirect to the set of buttons Frame (3),(4),(5),(6),(7)As you can see in the image, the (2) gives the order to go to the next (3) and it works.But when it goes from (2) to (5) or (6) or (7) then the second set of buttons don't work anymore.[URL]
View 3 RepliesI prepared a footer for a website and have the following issue:There are two buttons on footer bar that interests us. One is fullscreen - clicked activates fscommand function. But fscommand works only when I debug my fla. Otherwise, nothing happens. There's an additional variable that shows if fullscreen is active - nothing happens.There's also a "coder" info. I wanted to use navigateToURL function for "mailto:..." adress, but nothing happens, even if if changed it to [URL] adress. Also debugger doesn't activate it.I tested it in browser, completely nothing happens. There's the code, works without any "addons":

works perfect on my macbook pro (safari, firefox, and opera) but when I view the site on Vmare Fusion Windows XP and use IE and FireFox the pages don't load... I don't know what to make of this. Has anyone hear or seen anything like this happen before? BTW the website was created in Adobe Flash CS4/ AS 3.0 and published using Flash Player 10.
View 2 Repliestrying to create a character selection screen type thing works fine on my computer but when i load it to internet characters dont load up dont understand why characters and profile images are external image files so i think that reason why its not working is because the swf is trying to display the image before its properly loaded up
so im thinking perhaps if i add some sort of bytes total/bytes loaded script where its trying to load up and display the image it will check if the image is fully loaded before it tries to display the image think that will work ... if that's what the issue is
but not certain.
I've tried to create a preloader in frame 1 which shows a small animation while the site loades. But it doesn't work as it actually loads the entire site before showing frame 1 which kinda takes the idea out of the preloader.
This is my code:
stop();
addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, loading);
[code]....
I've made a preloader. When i load the SWF within flash, or play it from my harddisk, everything works fine. But when it's uploaded to my server, the preloader doesn't respond.
this is my preloader code:
ActionScript Code:
//Import the required assets
import flash.display.*;

I've just made a 2'nd version of my portfolio: [Code]... with xml used to read the content & i have several problems that i can't fix.
1: The site works well only in InternetExplorer. In all other browsers, jpg files are not loading correctly - they should fade in when the button is rolling & fade out when the button is rolling up, but they doesn't. Thare are also preloaders for each artwork & they doesn't appear (excepts IE). 2. The main preloader doesn't work correctly (even in IE) It appears, when about 80% of the site is loaded :S I don't know what to fix to the site to work correctly in all browsers.
I created a preloader. When I test it in Flash CS4, it works fine. When I upload the swf files to my server, the preloader doesn't work. I put both swf files in the same folder.
View 1 RepliesI have a preloader which loads an external swf. When I test locally, everything works fine, but when I test remotely: Preloader runs.External swf doesn't load into preloader. I am using the contentPath to load my external swf, and the only as2 I am using is: on (complete) { this._parent.loaderPB._visible = false; this._parent.mcbgdloader.visible = false;} to hide the progress bar and graphic used in the preloader.
I hope I provided enough info. The preloader is a regular fla and the external uses screens.
I have a splash page.
I had a preloader which worked great before I added the sound (a WAV file) and I used attachSound.
Now the preloader doesn't work anymore!
I have tried putting the attachSound action on the main timeline, in the movieclip, in its own movie clip, EVERYWHERE! All to no avail.

View 14 RepliesI have a menu which attach movie clips from the library, when I first probed the preloader there were not any linked movie clips, neither png files (because each button in the menu attach a picture which is inside the movie clip) now that I have put the movie clips in the library the preloader doesn't work and I don't know why.
View 4 RepliesI made a swf file and embed it in my website.It displays properly in the mozilla firefox but not in my google chrome.Is this problem related to the browser or the way that I embeded my swf file.
View 1 RepliesThese issues only appear on Safari and Firefox on Mac.I tested with Opera and Chrome and Windows (inc. IE), but they work fine.
Mac OS 10.6.8
Firefox 5.0.1
Safari 5.1
Flash CS5.5
1 Hiding the original black arrow cursor (Firefox only)When cursor rollovers to an Invisible button (oneBtn), I want to show custom cursor (newCursor) and hide mouse. But Firefox shows the custom cursor as well as the black arrow...
2. Mouse.show doesn't work only on Safari, Mac.When rollout to the invisible button (oneBtn), the custom cursor (newCursor) hides but the mouse doesn't appear. This happens only on Safari.
stop();
Mouse.show();
newCursor._visible = false;

I tryed to do this several times, and it didn't worked. The main problem is that if I test simulate the movie (56Kb) the preloader doesn't work. First it loads the entire file, then it loads the preloader which is not needed then, and the 2nd scene after that.
View 6 RepliesI've made a file in photoshop with layer. I brought it into flash. I created the movie and it plays but when I want to use the "test movie" feat. it does nothing. The graphics come up but no movement. I exported it as an .swf file but still no luck.
View 8 RepliesI'm working with flash CS4, with an adobe air file with as3, doing a desktop application to use in Windows , I google about information, but only find answers for web.I'm using a flvplayback, and when at source property add a local path as C:folderVideomyvideo.mp4 ,everything works fine, but when source is a server path from other computer as therpcfolderVideomyVideo.mp4 , doesn´t works. I'm not if a flvplayback bug.I have always the possibility to make a map folder, but this application is for a client, and if I can solve if add new map folder, it's better to me.
View 6 RepliesThe latest versions of firefox and Safari both cannot display email links. For some reason they don't parse ou the "mailto:".
View 5 RepliesI've made a simple preloader to load a movie. This is the preloader code
[Code]...
I see the loading progress percentage correctly run, at the end rotator_mc and counter_txt are removed from the stage, but the loaded movieclip is not added to the stage, or at least I can't see it.
Adobe Flash playaer 10 works with Chrome but when I try to use it in Internet Explorer it says I do not have it installed but I do.
