Has anyone used the compiler in CS5? I have a client that wants several Flash sites to play on Apple's iPhone/iPad. I'm doing some research now but wanted to see if anyone could add insight before I purchase the upgrade to CS5.
There are some classes that were taken out of the 4.0 flex sdk and I would like to know how to configure my compiler to use both sdk's, if it is even possible.
I have been assigned to work on a Java/Flash/BlazeDS project. When I pull down the project code, I need to run an Ant script as part of the setup. This script eventually compiles the Flash code, as seen below.[code]...
I'm making an animation in Flash CS4 and I have absolutely no actionscript in my project. At some point I added a new layer called "actions" and typed a simple piece of code in a keyframe (stop) but then I changed my mind and deleted it. But even though now there is no code in my project I still get a very annoying compiler errors window, every time I test my movie. What should I do to get rid of it?
I've read through this section of Adobe's excellent 10.1 optimization tips. I found the statement below to be very helpful. Is there anything else to look out for? Is the dumbed-down difference just: use the GPU for raster and CPU for vector graphics?
The GPU is only effective for bitmaps, solid shapes, and display objects that have the cacheAsBitmap and cacheAsBitmapMatrix set. When the GPUis used in tandem for other display objects and this generally results in poor rendering performance.
Just upgraded from CS5 to CS5.5Code that worked in CS5 now gives compiler errors:Symbol 'VideoPlayerMC', Layer 'Layer 2', Frame 1, Line 211119: Access of possibly undefined property state through a reference with static type flash.events:VideoEvent.Symbol 'VideoPlayerMC', Layer 'Layer 2', Frame 1, Line 421119: Access of possibly undefined property PLAYHEAD_UPDATE through a reference with static type Class.
I have been given an SWF to edit a link in the AS code. The fact is the SWF uses some XML that is generated (actually retrieved) by PHP code from a database. menuXML.load("/sub/page/dynamic.php?genre=" + genre); so the point is we can use the same SWF 'mainfraim' and fill them with different animations/sources based on the link provided in dynamic.php?genre=### Now, I've used Flash Decompiler Gold to extract all files in the SWF and can open it again in Adobe Flash to edit it. When done I enter CTRL+ENTER and there are immediately 4 compiler errors!! Errors:
1x < Unexpected 'if' encountered > 2x < Statement block must be terminated by '}' > 1x < Ecpected a field name after '.' operator. >
How can these errors be present, when the original SWF works perfectly??! If I don't manage to solve this, I'll have to find out how to create an .php file the SWF tries to use which can select the proper resources (from a database I guess) to show them (using ?genre=###)
So, I've formally logged a bug against this with Adobe as I've been beating my head against a wall trying to understand why this won't work, but I'm hoping that it's perhaps something within the Flash IDE that I'm setting incorrectly (or not setting at all) that is causing the issue that I'm encountering: I've created a container .fla that uses classes that are defined in an externally loaded swc, child.swc. I've added the .swc in the container's library path (Publish Settings > AS 3.0 Settings > Library Path) and have set its "Link Type" as "Exernal". According to Adobe's docs:
I am using Flash Professional CS5 with ActionScript 3.0. The problem is, When I am trying to use fscommand2 function, Flash Compiler throwing an error saying: Scene 1, Layer 'Layer 1', Frame 1, Line 7 1180: Call to a possibly undefined method fscommand2.But, I am able to use fscommand. But, it is for different purpose, so will not fulfill my requirement to get Device(Mobile) properties like DeviceID etc.
I'm trying to write a compiler argument for FDT to force the inclusion of one of my SWCs. It looks kind of like this (App name changed, but the real one also contains mixed case and a space): -include-libraries "C:WorkspacesMy Applibssite.swc" Problem is that the compiler claims it is unable to open this file. Is there a problem maybe with using a full path like this? Ideally I would prefer to use a token to represent the project folder, something like -include-libraries "${project}/libs/site.swc", but I don't seem able to find a token list in the docs.
It can be seen from this that Flash VM can set attribute to built-in Class, but compiler prohibits that. Is this a bug or a characteristic in Flash VM?
I would add a scrollbar to a TLFTextField, I know that should be possible because in the official documentation scrollTarget is DisplayObject.When I try to do that, Flash CS5 gets compiler error telling me that scrollTarget only accepts standard TextField.
Code: var txt:TLFTextField=new TLFTextField(); var scrollBar:UIScrollBar=new UIScrollBar(); scrollBar.scrollTarget=txt; //error
i have built a custom class, which i call from a frame script. the custom class takes only one parameter, which is a string URL of an XML file. SUDDENLY, when i move all the files off of my desktop into a different folder, i receive compiler errors, stating it can not find my custom class .as file, even though it's in the same folder! why is this happening? here's my entire frame script:
After changing the Flex SDK to 3.6 (from 4.5.1) so as to target Flash player 9.0.124, the project no longer compiles, producing spurious errors such as XML does not have matching begin and end tags leading me to believe that the compilation process is 'borked'.
This is a pure AS project, and so should have no dependency on the Flex SDK, howver, it seeems to be inextricably linked to the Flex 4.x SDK and Flash Player 10+. I have tried swf-version and -target-player-version in the compiler arguments, but there is still something I am missing to get this to compile for Flash player 9.
I have made multiple movies compiled in flash player 6.0 with AS 1.0. Now the problem is that when i compile the movie with the new compiler for Flash 7 under AS 1.0, there are a lot of runtime errors. There are no error messages, just screw ups during runtime. But if played with Flash Player 7, it works.
For example kirupa's volume control with slider doesn't work. So I am just wondering what script changes i need to make. I have tried declaring my variables and making them case sensitive. But there are still problems. I just need some generalizations on what I should do. For me compiling under 7.0 is enticing becuase of the speed enhancements for the 30% of ppl who do have the new player.
I have a project that I need to develop some Java code for. The project is using Flash and BlazeDS. For the initial build of the project, an Ant script is run that eventually runs what I believe is the Flex compiler (the sdk attribute points to a FlashBuilder 4 sdk/4.1.0 directory).
Why do I need to do add extra namespace declarations (below) in a Flex 4.1 "MX only component set" project to get it to compile within Flash Builder? (It says mx:LineChart cannot be resolved when a chart is added via Design View, and datavisualization.swc is referenced.)
Is there a way I can get this to compile without adding these special xmlns:charts, xmlns:series and chartClasses to the declaration? (If I just leave the default namespaces and use mx:SomeChartComponent, it doesn't compile.)
I am trying to load an external variable text file into a movie but it is returning compiler errors. Please suggest a solution. The source code is ......
var myTextLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); myTextLoader.DataFormat=URLLoaderDataFormat.VARIAB LES; myTextLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onLoaded);
[code]....
The external file is "gxcvrt.txt" while name, slogan, rep, button1-7 are the variables to be loaded.The compiler returns the following errors (highlighted in red)
Line 4 '{' expected Source = function onLoaded(e:Event) :void {
I am following a code example in a book and have the final fla and as files, so I know the project works when fully coded.In the book, it tells me I can test the movie to make sure that it is working so far. When I do that, I get the error 1120: Access of undefined property.
The "property" is a component instance. If I take the example completed code and remove everything up to the point I am at, I receive the same errors, so I know it's not a spelling/syntax mistake.I have a feeling it is the Compiler in Strict Mode. But, when I change it to Standard Mode, then I get error 5001: The name of package 'com.foundastionAS3.ch12' does not reflect the location of this file. etc.
note:: attached is a file of the compiler when it gives me multiple 1120s.
I have seen a few blog entries on this and have had a discussion or two with my team mates but I would like to see what the stack overflow community thinks.
So why does the Adobe Alchemy Tool create so much faster running flash byte code than the flex compiler?
Also, when will the flex compiler be able to make similar performance gains? Will it require programmer specific use of special Array's or something of that nature to get the same performance?
Does MXML get compiled down to as3 and then converted to flash bytecode? Also, is there a significant performance penalty to compiling mxml vs compiling as3?
I've embedded a MovieClip symbol with the [Embed] syntax into my AS3 project, which I'm compiling with the Flex 3 SDK. That MovieClip has instances of other clips within it that are placed on stage with instance names. I can't just access them by instance name like I would if I were compiling with the Flash IDE. How can I reference them?
the same class is passed to the mxmlc compiler in SWF library as a symbol linkage class and again in a source-path. But the compiler uses the definition from the source-path so creating new instance of that class won't create new instance of the library symbol. How do I tell the compiler to prefer the definition linked to the symbol (the one dfrom SWC)?
I have my design assets in an FLA file and they are linked to classes (e.g. [URL]. Then I export those assets to a SWC library and pass it to the compiler. Now when I create an instance of the class (new MyAsset();) it will be a new instance of the library object.
But there are other classes too in the source folder (e.g. "com.myproject.model.*" so I need to pass the source folder to the compiler too. And that is the problem, now the compiler will use the MyAsset.as definition from the source path, not from the SWC where it is assigned to the library object so if I create new instance of MyAsset now it won't duplicate the library object.
Our Flash web-based applications play lots of audio for narration and sound-effects. Some of our customers have firewall rules that block downloading of MP3 and other audio files. So, we need to wrap those MP3 files in SWFs. In the past, I've written JSFL scripts that automate the Flash IDE and walk through a complicated, fragile set of steps to embed MP3 files into FLAs and then publish those to SWFs. Now, Flex SDK provides the mxmlc compiler. I've mixed ANT into our workflow, and command-line and automated builds have been a joy. So, I want to make transcoding or wrapping of MP3s part of our build process. I've found Embedding Asset at Compile time in Pure AS3, but this will require that I write a script to generate a wrapper class AS file. Is there a cleaner way to wrap or transcode MP3 files into SWFs?
In my current flash project I keep getting this error in my output panel: Code:TypeError: Error #1010: A term is undefined and has no properties.at main_flash_fla::Acoustic_1/moveImage()at main_flash_fla::Acoustic_1/on2() However, It does not seem to effect the movie when I test it. All it has really accomplished is to annoy me by always popping up in my output panel.
Heres my question: Why does it choose to show up in my output as an error rather than my compiler error panel? Also, what then is the difference between an error in output vs compiler?
